Hey, it hasn't been long since Lord Shojo's death. Hopefully someone will get around to it. Although I have the feeling that Mr. Scruffy will remain out of sight for the time being, only to play a crucial part in foiling Xykon at an opportune moment - this is at least somewhat likely given the law of cute animals in fiction and the presence of the gate in the throne room.

I think that Xykon will kill Mr. Sruffy, and Belkar will kill him in a bloody rage like Roy did in the first battle with Xykon, shouting "YOU KILLED THAT FUNNY CAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I saw belkar running around with a cat on his head earlier. Belkar taking the cat as an animal companion actually dosnt seem incredibly unlikely to me, though he wont feed it or clean up after it. Still, I think it will just become Hinjo's cat or disapear altogether.

Don't you see? Shojo's senility was an act, and Mr. Scruffy was his accomplice. Mr. Scruffy is really an intelligent, capable and conniving figure, just like Shojo. He'll go off on his own, taking care of himself, and continue Shojo's noble mission of protecting the city from the shadows.

Given how close he came to getting cleft, I suspect Mr. Scruffy is currently in his litter box, attempting to bury a pile of "poopsies" as big as he is. He should be occupied for some time before anyone needs to take responsibility for him.

Cats don't need someone to care for them 24 hours a day. The cooks know whose cat he was, food will be provided. The output will end up in sandboxes, litter boxes and slippers all over the tower. A cat may look at the king, after all.
