Welcome to The Stick Awards II: Second Edition!

The Stick Awards are handed out to the best strips of all time as chosen by our fellow Playgrounders.

Over the next few days, we're continuing The Best of the Hundred Tournament for Comics #301 - #400 as we take the time to decide which of the strips really are the best of best.

For full details about the Stick Awards, and any questions about them, please check out the main thread here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=283609).

To read more about the original Stick Awards, created by Nazzo, the 102nd, please read his thread here. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34791)

To vote in this thread, simply state which comic of the five listed is your favorite. Bolding the number of the comic (Like this) helps it stand out.

Voting, which only lasts five days during the Best of the Hundred Tournament will close on May 2nd, 4pm EDT. Any votes made after that will NOT count toward the totals.

The winner of this semi-final will go on to the finals which will be held after this second semi-final is done. The two strips that get the most votes during the semis that DIDN'T win, will also reach the finals. So voting is extra special important this time around, as it will determine who the 'Wild Card' entrants are.

In the previous semi-final, :nale: 337 - Brief and to the Point (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0337.html) once again made its point in a clear and concise manner about why it should enter the finals. So it was spoken, thus it was done.

Meanwhile, :durkon: 344 A Walk in the Park (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0344.html) is currently holding down Wild Card spot #1 with six votes and :haley: 327 - The Test of the Mind (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0327.html) is currently holding down Wild Card spot #2 with five votes. Thus if another strip is to enter the finals without winning this semi, it must receive at least five votes.

These strips have faced many trials and tribulations to get this point. Well, if you consider standing in front of the crowds and seeking votes tribulations. But to move on to the finals, they'll have to brave the court of public opinion once more by taking part in.....

379, 385 and 393 are all really nice. But fortunately we can vote for Shojo right now, so I'm doing that: 379 - Perform IS on the Aristocrat's Skill List has my vote.

367 wins, there are no matches. (just a mention to 385 that deserves it, but still no contest in my opinion)

Most of these are pretty good. I'm noticing an interesting lack of votes for 393 so far. I will vote for #367

My vote is for 379 and the aristocrat's performance

Though I didn't vote for it last time and did vote for 379, 393 gets my pick this time.

393, for humor, drama, love, and strangely competent Elan.

367 is, for me, the first time Rich started getting really good at the mix of drama and humor that I love about this strip. So put that down for me.

Except for the first one, they are all big contenders.
...
after much pondering, #379 it is.

367 without question:
not nale. not-nale. thog help nail not-nale, not nale. and thog knot not-nale while nale nail not-nale. nale, not not-nale, now nail not-nale by leaving not-nale, not nale, in jail.

Translation from Thogspeak to English:
He is not Nale, he is Elan. I helped beat Elan, not Nale. I bound Elan while Nale gave him his goatee. Nail screwed Elan by leaving Elan, not Nale, in jail.

352 is nice, but 367 should easily win this round.

This was a tough one, both 379 and 393 are outstanding. I will vote for #379 this time.

First thought: all really good. But 379 takes the cake.

367, of course. It has a half-dozen lines which would each make a competitive strip on their own, put together it's got easily the best dialogue in the comic so far IMO.

I don't mind telling people this, but I am fairly shocked at the results of this contest. Not so much that 367 won, but in the strength of the opinion behind it. For me, 393 is clearly and easily above everything in this poll. Yes, 367 is hilarious, and deserving of reaching the finals. But 393 is a fantastic climax to a literally years long running plotline. It has humor. It has drama. It has angst. It has physical comedy. It has massive character development galore.

It really is, IMO, the standout star of this hundred.

And it won't even reach the finals. :smallfrown:

...

Aw well, maybe next time.

And with that.....

VOTING IS NOW CLOSED!

:elan: 367 - Innocent Man (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0367.html) is the winner of this semi-final! It now moves on to the finals for the Best of the Hundred tournament (301-400).

http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i294/trytoguess/Shojo.png 379 - Perform IS on the Aristocrat's Skill List (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0379.html) gets Wild Card spot #1 with 8 votes while :durkon: 344 A Walk in the Park (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0344.html) slides down to Wild Card spot #2 from the last semi-final.
