I'm a brand new player running my first 3.5 dnd campaign. I'm playing a druid. I have a question regarding wild shape. when I shape do I take the base attack bonus of the monster, mine, or which ever is higher?

You use your Base Attack Bonus, but you use the monsters ability scores to calculate your bonus to hit(usually strength). If a level 6 druid(BAB 4) wildshapes into a black bear your BAB is still 4 but your str score becomes 19, so your to-hit with your claw attacks would be +8.

As a side note none of the types you can wildshape into have more than 3/4 BAB and the forms HD can't exceed yours, so wildshaping would never improve your BAB even if you acquired the creatures BAB. You don't, to be clear.
