Jack Kepler awoke in the University hospital. He rose from bed and stumbled out of his room.Outside the door, he saw his charts said he was being treated for exposure to an obscure chemical compound. He felt strange. He rested his hand next to a patient with a large gash in his side, unintentionally touching him, and the patient was healed. He decided to call himself Doctor Blue. It was then he heard a man screaming outside. Doctor Blue went to the rescue!

I know this is a crappy first post, but it was my best for 5 minutes.

Seventeen thousand four hundred and ninety-six, whispers Hannah Moritz, who hates it when people use that name sits in a room. At least, officially it is a room, the actual characterestics of it have more in common with a cell. There are no windows, and the only light comes from a single bulb on the high ceiling. There is no furniture or decoration, only the thick white padding on the walls and floors. This is not where she normally stays, but for some reason she was moved here several weeks ago. She suspects that it is caused by the failure of her latest scheme to gain more freedom, the girl threatened to hit her head repeatedly, and would then accuse the staff. Unfortunately they simply threw her into this room. In retrospect it might not have been the best idea. At least she is alone, but she hears things, flards of voices and other sounds. She shouts at the top of her lungs: "Shut up!" but nothing happens.

Seventeen thousand four hundred and ninety-sevenThey tell her that those sounds aren't there, that there is something wrong with her, that she is ill. But all that is a lie. A huge, terrible lie because they hate her. There must be more to what she hears, and they try to hide it. Yes, that must be it. From the ceiling she hears a voice: "Hannah, go to the corner."

The first time she was in such a room, years and years ago, the girl decided to resist. They had put her there because a boy had taken a toy, she doesn't remember what it was anymore, but she does know that she had almost succeeded in clawing out his eyes. Anyways, she just stayed in her place, sitting in front of the door. They told her repeatedly that she had to move, but she kept refusing. Eventually they gave up and Nightshade had won. But when she was asleep they seized her and put her in a straitjacket. She learned her lesson. She has to be nice, otherwise they will never let her out again. So she stands up and does what she is told. She stops her counting, she doesn't know what she was counting, but the endless succession of numbers helps her pass the time. She however has to remember where she was, last night she fell asleep and this morning she had to start over again.

Two nurses lead their patient to a bathroom, there are no sanitary facilities in the padded room. This is her first visit of the day, and afterwards she is given a short shower. The water is cold, and Nightshade drinks from the stream as it washes over her face, she is thirsty. After the shower she is fed, her arms tied behind a chair. They are careful while doing it, the girl has tried to bite people before. She never eats much, but today she eats even less as she starts to feel unwell.

Raina Alexandrova

Spring break. While not necessarily her favorite time of the year, it was one she enjoyed. It was 'her' week, a chance to get away from both her school responsibilities and those of her volunteer work at the local asylum. Often, she traveled. This year, she planned to spend much of the week catching up on some reading. A new Stephen King novel, the latest Dresden Files, Crime and Punishment-- in the original Russian, of course, a favorite classic-- and several psychological journals, keeping her abreast of the newest discoveries in her field, were all on her list for the week. Of, course, that was before the 'incident'. A stop at the nearest coffee shop for a chai latte, a walk along the Bay Park path, paying more attention to the book she read while she walked than the beach path in front of her. Walking through several puddles where the tide had receded, and deposited a slurry of toxic chemicals along the trail, the water splashing up onto her legs and absorbing into her skin. It didn't take long for the chemicals, once in her bloodstream, to work their way into her brain, rewiring her neural pathways, pushing her from intelligent, empathetic, and with an eidetic memory to telepathic, empathic, and with perfect recall. Once it started, her hurried trip back home against the onslaught of random thoughts coming from everywhere around her all at once was disconcerting, and at times, physically painful. Once in the relatively safety of her campus-housing apartment, populated only by her cat, and the few residents who had not left town for the break, she was able to start to come to grips with what had occurred, and how to deal with it. Even then, it had taken her nearly the whole week to learn a few defenses against the 'noise' all around, and the time she had planned to spend relaxing was instead spent learning how to cope. She'd taken it well, somewhat surprising herself, but it appeared to her, that, since she was already geared into a field that involved listening to people and learning to read what they didn't want to say, that this ability was simply an extension of that training. The telekinesis was a real shock when she discovered that, but it also didn't disrupt her equanimity. At least she wasn't covered in scales or sprouting extra limbs. She was special, better than she was before.

Now it's Saturday, and she feels ready to try her hand (and her head) at greater exposure, being out in public. She leaves her apartment, and makes her way back to her favorite coffee shop, making her usual order of a chai latte. She finds she's not only able to keep out the 'voices' she doesn't want to hear, but able to select specific thoughts to listen to without all her defenses falling apart on her. What is, perhaps, the hardest moment is hiding her revulsion when she picks up on the stray thoughts of the freshman in a secluded corner of the coffee shop surfing for porn. Disgusted, she takes her chai and leaves the shop, and strolls down the street. She nearly dropped her drink in surprise when she say a man step into the shade of a building, vanish, and reappear down the street about a half block. It didn't take her long to catch up to the man and, as she walked casually past him say, "Well, it's not often one sees a trick light that. How did you accomplish it?" with her slightly accented English.

Erik was watching the tourists, looking for potential marks when he decided to move areas after taking a few bills from well of seeming people. They didn't need it and he needed to eat, they surely wouldn't miss a couple tens each, maybe he took a little much. Oh well. After lifting the money he stayed around the beach, watching the other College kids, admiring all the shirtless bodies while sitting on the beach wall. He feels his belly growl. He looks down. Guess its time to eat.

"but whathat to eat, what to eat...." Erik mutters to himself while looking around for a place to eat. He spots a food stand, about half a block up. Suprisingly, he's never eaten there before. I wonder what all they have. Erik glanced around for a nice and shaded spot. He sauntered over to it before shooting a look over his shoulder, he checked to see if anyone was watching. It doesn't seem like anyone is, so he focus a moment and causes the shadows from the umbrella to envelope him before he steps out down the block, near the stand of food. Good job, No one noticed. I'm getting good at this. he thinks, proud of himself.

He buys his food and begins to chow down on the hot dog. It was decent. Not the best, but still good enough. "Well, it's not often one sees a trick light(like?) that. How did you accomplish it?" A woman said to him in an accent. An icy chill ran through his body. She , sounded russian, or some other eastern european. F@#$. he swears in his head. "I have no idea what you are talking about lady" He grins and laughs nervously. He was never that great a liar when he knew he was caught, but hey, he still had to try.

Ashton sat on the toilet seat at work...somehow he had managed to walk all the way down from his second story apartment room and across the street to work without spontaneously combusting. So far, so good.
Damn...what the hell is this? He asks himself, glaring at the single flicker of black fire dancing on his fingertip. Why? What point does this serve? How the **** is this even possible? For serious...how am I gonna work like this? He blows out the flame on his hand and tries to recall everything that had happened the past few days...
Let's see.
I went to work the day before yesterday...went home and watched TV...
Then yesterday I went to catch a movie with the last of my paycheck, decided to bring some of my old circus gear to the bay afterwards...got pushed in to the water by some ******* while swallowing fire. That little ****.
I could've died.
He didn't notice anything different at first. Even after he dragged himself out of the water, choking on chemicals he didn't even know he had swallowed...
Once he got home he took a cold shower, somehow missing the fact that he was steaming...
And now Ashton was at the Universal Cafe, sitting on the pot before driving up the nerve to clock on.
Now he's a freak...more fit to be in a circus then he was before the incident.
What to do, what to do?
**** it. I'm working. I'm not burning other than the occasional burger. He stands up and straightens out his uniform before washing his hands and starting his five hour shift.
It could be worse...
He could have died...
That kid could die...
Now there's a thought.

"Liar," she says, bluntly, although without malice. She didn't even need her newly discovered telepathy to pick up on that one. "You were there," she points with one brown-tinged finger at the spot where Erik vanished. "Then you were there," she points with her other hand down the block where he reappeared. "Without covering the ground in-between. Not that, I believe, this is a crime. I would call it an oddity. And I'm curious how you managed it. I've recently developed an interest in such things." She can tell that he's still hungry despite the hot dog, so she adds. "Perhaps, you would be willing to discuss this over a meal, yes? 'My treat' as you Americans say."

Waking up in his personal built temple with farm ground in the underground lair built under the main headquarters of Turbo Tech Inc. Starts the morning by gathering vegetables from the garden with fresh laid chicken eggs for food in the morning so he to being his morning meal by cracking a match to light the wood in the wood stove that made a CRACKLE waking up Ron a human which help him develop his gear. Ron walks in the room to sit on the one of the two chairs sits down on while Harald cooks to say him "Why don't you just let me make you a advanced kitchen now Harald it better then this mid 1800's kitchen" only to look again and Harald gone with his breakfast in front of him. Few minutes before Harald had took the new battle suit with grappling hooks he requested the day before while getting dressed and getting ready.

Harald had been looking through files on his computerized glasses on a street corner next to the bank which was about to be robbed of 10 million dollars he had set-up to catch some crooks who had stolen from several other banks he owned. Runs behind into to activate the suit that covered his whole body in black body armor then quickly runs to a mirror to see it looks nice on him and back to the street corner not a minute to late. The thieves had driven 10 ft before the car went fly into air by Harald one pull of the wire grappling hook by the hook stuck the back seat of the car. Hits the call button on the suit "Hey Ron play the commercial for the new Hero Recruitment Agency and very sorry about breakfast will have it in the modern kitchen tomorrow..... when I am done here". While balancing it in the air with both hands landing it gently to ask for all the money back " hey can I get all the money back?".

This was shaping up to be a very strange day indeed. People yelled at him for a while, he had a bit of bad luck, he had become practically invisible, and now he could talk to ghosts. Well, ghosts could yell at him. Now that he thought about it, things hadn't changed that much at all. But he had changed, and now he needed to figure out who else had. After all, how else could he avoid them? If someone else had a similar ability, where would they be?

He headed off to the mental asylum.
Excuse me, I need to see the records."
"I'm sorry, you need authorization for that kind of..."
"Here." He interrupted, and waved his hand around for a second "There, now I need to know about any patients who claimed to see things, hear things, even smell things that weren't there. If you know anything about them that would help too"
A few minutes later, he was walking through the asylum. Every now and then one of the spirits he had convinced to do him a favor would come up to him, and he would cross a name and number off a list. Eventually he arrives to the door of one "Hannah Moritz".

He gets them to let him in fairly easily. To her, he seems foggy. She can't place any details of his appearance. But she also can't hear him the way she normally can. His "voice" sounds like he is mumbling three sentences just a little too quietly.
In comparison his voice is clear.
"You be Miss Moritz?" He asks. "I hear you can do something unusual."

Professor Quentin Foxx
Dr. Foxx's Laboratory, Heropolis Univeristy

The elderly academician sits at his desk and removes his wire framed spectacles. He rubs his nose where the glasses sit as if to relieve a tension headache. Only Professor Foxx's head does not hurt. In fact, mentally he feels better than he did more than forty years ago when he was only twenty. No, it was more confusion. Only, the confusion did not last long. He was able to quantify and calculate his feelings and almost immediately determine why he felt the way he did. Things that before would have taken hours for him to wrap his head around were now swirling through his mind constantly. He even had a full understanding of what E=MC^2 meant and was beginning to fully understand the fourth and fifth dimensions.

To be honest, he thought he was going crazy. Maybe this is what dementia feels like? He checked his numbers with colleagues and their jaws dropped. They asked how long he had been working on these numbers. When he said about 3 minutes, they asked if he needed to see a doctor. That's why Professor Quentin Foxx has been locked in his university laboratory for the last few hours. Watching the news he realizes he is far from the first to be affected. From what he had seen, most of the others were affected in a more physical manner, but they were still changed.

That is when the first vision of precognition hit him. People were going to bad things with there powers. Many would be hurt, many would be killed. Unless he and the others did something to change that. But, how to get their attention.

"Uuuh, well, I just kinda did it. I don't really know how, I just know I can." He really doesn't want it getting out that he can manipulate shadows. Out of some of the other superpowers he's heard of the heroes or villains having, not many scream possible villain like his. I mean, what do people fear more than darkness and the unknown? I can't trust her, not yet. "I think I'll have to pass for now, Rain check?" He says as he slowly is backing up into some usable shade, hoping to make a swift getaway from the Russian lady who knows too much.

Raina doesn't move as he backs away. Instead, she displays a little of her own ability. {No, you probably don't have a reason to trust me, but perhaps this will change your mind.} When he hears her voice in his head, it's clearly hers, but there's no trace of an accent. She quirks one corner of her mouth upwards in a sardonic half-smile.

The door opens, so soon again and without the warning to move away from it. That alone is strange. Someone enters, and the already increasing shouting reaches an even higher volume. It has become disastrous, they simply wouldn’t shut up but only spoke louder. But it is not only sound, but the normal flashes of other things are now constantly with her. And they no longer are flashes, but they remain. She also feels things, but doesn’t feel them at the same time, not the brief sensations of the past but they are fully present. But each of the sensations comes with other things, sounds, sights, smells and even tastes.

But it all is so very much, far too much. She knows what it is, it is the truth. She now knows what the fragments were, and what now is far more than a fragment. She knew it from the moment that one of the many looked in a mirror, and showed one of the nurses, but younger. She knows it, she experiences what others think, just like she always suspected. But it almost overwhelms her, there is too much. She lies curled up in the middle of the cell when the door opens. She looks up, her hair wild and face wet with tears. She looks up with her red-veined eyes, answering in a soft voice: ”Do not call me by that name. Hannah is dead! They killed her. But you were not here before, who are you and what do you want?”

She rises to sit on her knees, looking up at the strange man. She seems tired, tired and confused. Not only because of her visitor. But there also is something else, an intellect hidden behind the obvious instability.

Out of nowhere a new ad comes up ad on tv & radi0: You see a man that blurry saying this "I am of no of importance. Just here to ask all those who have powers please call my personal satellite phone that is untraceable here the number 789-6789 to be apart of a team that helps the world from danger thank you for listening to my massage now back to your regular programing".
Flyer boys start putting up ads with the same massage said over the radio and tv.

Harald returns to the underground facility telling Ron " Now shot me with the hollow point bullet to test this suit durability out" so Ron waste the whole mag on the suit leaving no dent on it Ron says"Good to know that military technology is at great standards now " as Harald smiled back knowing others would be safe using it. After that Ron went back to work.

After that he turned on the tv to see the shock in on the news about what he had done while taking off the suit with the hooks to give back to Ron to make improved versions for later on use. Harald just took his satellite phone then practice jump techniques in his training room while his work papers where being brought down by his secretary so he can file them.

Marcus knocks on the door to Professor Quentin Foxx's office. He opens it and sticks his head into the room.

Excuse me professor. A moment of your time?

The professor looks up from his desk.

What can I do for you Mr?....hmmm, not a student are you? Ah yes, Mr White with our security department yes? I knew you'd be coming to see me. Please come in.

Marcus walks into the room, closes the door and takes a seat.

Professor, you're one of the smartest guys here right? And everyone says you know everything there is to know about chemicals. Especially the effects of chemicals on living things?

Foxx knods.

Is it possible that, look let's just say hypothetically right? Let's just say someone hypothetically drank something they shouldn't have, could it change you?

Marcus pauses for a second before dropping his head.

Screw it professor, I won't BS you. That disturbance last night at the physics lab? The report says that some of the thieves let off an explosive before escaping and leaving their mates behind. But that's not what happened. It was me. I can do things now. Things I couldn't do before. Make sounds out of nothing, or make everything quiet. I set off a sonic shockwave in that building strong enough to crack concrete and I didn't even get a ringing in my ears. What's happening? Can you tell me? Do you know?

The professor smiles at Marcus. "Son, I can only tell you what you already know. Things have changed. We are different now. Even I am different. It seems that everyone is experiencing different things. The effects the people are experiencing appear to be random, though I doubt it is so. It will require more studying but that is not what is important now. What is important is figuring out how to control your abilities, and deciding how you will use them. I will help you with that, I just ask one thing. That you not hurt any innocents."

Leon didn’t so much as wince as he tossed another shot of vodka down his throat. Other students from the university crowded around him, anticipating his reaction. This was his eighth shot in the last thirty minutes. He hadn’t eaten anything in the past two or three hours, and yet he did not feel the effects of the alcohol in the slightest. By a few strokes of luck and next-to-no intuition , Leon was fairly quick to figure out that whatever chemicals had been spilled in the bay had made him resistant to a variety of things. Alcohol was one, and pot was another. This caused him some grief when he initially found it out, causing him to seek out some stronger . Getting shot would not be considered “lucky” for anyone else, but when he’d contacted his usual supplier in Deville, he’d said something he shouldn’t have, and he was shot square in the chest.

He was fine. A little stunned, and very confused as to why he wasn’t dead, but Leon wasn’t one to look a gift horse in the mouth. The dealer ran, like any sane person would from a bulletproof man with reason to be angry at you. The surrounding students, most of them inebriated, were daring and paying Leon to continue drinking, past the point that would cause the average joe to vomit. He didn’t enjoy it like he used to, but it was an easy way to make cash. Illegal since he was technically below legal drinking age, true, but he didn’t really care. Legality wasn’t important to him.

====

The following day, while all his friends were hung over from the previous night, Leon took his easily-earned winnings and sat down at a decent restaurant in town. He leaned back in his chair, wondering how else he could use his powers to make some scratch. Maybe he could take up boxing...

It was then that Jack had an idea. When morning came, he would speak to Professor Foxx at the university. He was famous for his skills in biology and chemistry, and surely he could know what was going on. Perhaps Jack could even find others who shared his condition.
But this evening, seeing how the last few hours in the warehouse had pushed out the thoughts of others, he would try to eat at a restaurant.

I am here, I have been for over a decade, but I see every place, every moment. And they, they hate me. They lock me away from the world. They lock me away from myself with their medications, their words and their therapies. Every last one of them is involved. But I know it, and they will never take me away from myself. They killed Hannah for it, her own parents brought her here to die. She will be avenged.”

The girl stops for a moment, smiling: ”But that is not what you ask, man of fog. You wish to know what I do. What can I do? I can sit, I can talk, I can eat, I can drink. Sometimes I wake, sometimes I sleep. When they let me I read, but when I can’t I count the moments and the memories. I can think, but not always, they drown my mind in senselessness. I know fears, not my own, but those of everyone. I know, and it can’t be stopped. It always is there, surrounding me, circling my mind. I am more than they can ever hope to be. And yet they say that there is something wrong with me. Do you see or are you blind? There is something that I want. I want to leave this place, leave it in ashes. Can you do that for me? Let me hear their screams.”

"I can see a little, and I am a little blind. Even you are. And as to your question... no. But also a little yes. I cannot help you hear their screams, or leave this place in ashes, but if you can promise that you won't go around killing people I can help you leave." Admittedly, he is beginning to feel a little doubtful about this plan. "Let me explain. When you kill someone, their voice doesn't disappear, even if you can't hear it. It comes to me, I deliver it to you and it will never let you go. At least the living do not walk through walls, no?

Those always come.”, but she does want to leave, and this man might help with that. She has made promises many times before, and usually she breaks them. He smiles slightly. "Then we have a deal. All we have to do... is walk out of this place. Easy, no?" He knocks on the door, which opens again, and beckons her to follow.
"I'm sorry sir," the guard says, "She can't leave."
"I showed you the transfer papers before I came, remember?" He says.
"Ah, yes. Of course." The man stands aside.

Nightshade stands up to follow the man, he is very, very interesting. She smiles, walking across the hallway on her bare feet. It is strange for her to walk unattended, they always were afraid of her, even before today she could taste it. She doesn't look back, but passing the guard makes her uncomfortable, his unpleasant thoughts come awfully close. Then her thoughts turn to this stranger. It is obvious that he wants something from her. All this could be a trap, to lure her to another place, to get her to betray her secrets, but that could also have been achieved in another way. She will have to question this man, and if there is a hint of trouble, she can always escape. She wonders what it will be like, away from here. There only are vague memories, the walled garded and of course the view from her old room. She could see trees from there, and sometimes a car. She still remembers the last time that she was in one of those, her mother was driving and her father talked to her. They said that this was for her own good, that she needed help. They were so wrong. But still, every time they visit they stand by what they did. The visits have become less common over the years, perhaps they are ashamed of what they did to their little girl. She remembers the last visit, her parents didn't even come, but David, her oldest brother came. It was the first time she saw him in over a decade. He said that he had finished his studies and was about to get married. He promised to send her pictures. Of course, he never did, no one ever sent her anything, all her letters always go unanswered.

"Sir, where are you taking miss Moritz?", a nurse asks the stranger, she continues in a softer voice, so Nightshade cannot her her speak. But she can hear the thoughts behind it. "It is not safe to have her free to move, she has violent tendencies."

The girl looks at her, she won't let her waste this opportunity. She feels her thoughts, and pushes at them, they change, how peculiar. Nightshade starts to smile, understanding what she can do. The woman takes out a syringe and injects herself with a calming cocktail. The girl smiles. "She won't bother us anymore."

"Dr. Raina Alexandrova," Raina says by way of introduction, taking the proffered hand. "Pick your restaurant. Seems only fair, since I'll be picking your brain-- metaphorically, of course." She adds the last as an afterthought, realizing belatedly that a telepath should probably be more careful with her idioms. "I'd like to find out how you feel about your, ah, unique abilities."

"Anywhere is fine, Ms Raina. What I feel about them? I love them. Really handy in what i do. getting into places I'm not supposed too. hiding in plain sight, stuff like that. What are yours, if you don't mind me asking?" It was odd talking about his powers like this, yet weirdly relieving. Ashton listens to the monotony of privileged people demanding simple orders in the most complicated ways as he stands behind a register, struggling to control his desire to yawn.
After about an hour or two he's finally allowed to go on break, so he rings up a meal and takes it into the dinner, happening to end up in the booth beside the two supers chatting so amicably about their abilities.

He was sorely mistaken, and had ended up failing the course. He would need to take it again next semester, and even when not under the influence, he wasn't sure he would be able to prevent himself from falling asleep during the world's most boring course.

Leon sunk down in his booth as he continued to shove fries in his mouth. They were talking about... super-something or others. He wasn't really paying attention. He took a sip of his root beer to wash it down. "Mpph..." *GULP* "The tastiest way to slowly kill yourself." He said quietly.

"Uuuh... maybe?" Erik says as he thinks. Can he? "I've never tried before. Never occurred to me to, but I'll give it a shot, I guess." He closes his eyes as he focuses on the hand shaped shadow. In his mind's eye he moves the shadow under the ketchup and tries to raise it up. At first the shadow only dims the light around the base of the bottle, but as he tries to do it the shadow darkens and becomes more substantial. It darkens until no one can see the very bottom of the bottle, as if there isn't any light there and it lifts the bottle slightly. "Is anything happening?" Erik asks with is eyes closed, but the question distracts him and the shadow wavers and drops the bottle down the inch it was raised.

Officer Duncan James patrolled the slums of Devile like clockwork. The kids practically set their watches by him. He was so predictable that he hadn't busted anyone on patrol in ages. Probably why he was so eager to start a shootout the month before: killing a big-time gang leader probably did wonders for his career.

Didn't matter now. His time was up.

It was easy: Alex had put on a trashy-looking hoodie with the sleeves cut off, sagged his pants, and stuffed trash in his pockets to make suspicious-looking bulges. He'd borrowed one of Maggie's cigs and lit up in as surreptitious a manner as he could just as he rounded a corner and came into Officer James' line of sight. The results had been predictable. Alex didn't bother suppressing his smirk while Officer James had stopped and frisked him. He acted as obnoxious as possible, and was awarded some unnecessary roughness and several minutes of being uncomfortably pinned, pushed, and prodded for his efforts.

He found himself meeting the eyes of Officer James' partner several times as James patted him down. Hey man, I'm about to do you a hell of a favor, he thought. Wherever James brushed up against his skin, the tingles and burns told Alex that his power was working, establishing a stronger and deeper link.

The cops left after a few minutes, leaving Alex ruffled but very much unperturbed. Maggie, the slim Asian girl who'd been sticking with him since their gang got destroyed, slips out of a nearby alley as the cops drive off. She sidles up to Alex, lighting a cigarette as she does.

Officer James had been in the driver's seat. Perfect.

"Did you do it?"

Alex nods. "He did all the work for me." He feels for the mental muscle that controls his power and clenches it slightly. A slight trickle flows in and he devotes it to mathematics. 7th and Blind is the edge of his patrol area. With average speed of 20 mph, he'll reach Main in... 59 seconds. 17 already passed - 18. 41 left. He'll have to turn left in one block after that, so... He carefully siphons off a bit more brainpower. ...12 seconds, about. 52 left. Do it when he's turning, make sure he's likely to hit another car rather than pedestrians. 49 seconds.

"But you didn't actually do it. He left." Maggie's disappointed. Unamused. With some surprise, Alex realizes she never thought he was going to go through with it. He holds up a hand and shakes his head.

"Thirty seconds." She raises an eyebrow and looks at her watch, silently counting. I wonder if we'll be able to hear it from here? No. 24 seconds left. But closest hospital is at Evergreen and 9th. Fastest route from hospital takes 9th and Blind. 13 seconds left.

Time. He clenches with his mind, siphoning off so much brainpower that the flow abruptly stops within a second. The world lights up around him. This is the biggest rush he's ever gotten with his power.

"It's been thirty seconds." Estimated time till 911 called, accounting for James' partner - 3.240 seconds. Response issued in average of 4.991 seconds afterwards. Time from hospital to 9th and Blind, for ambulance - 7.160 seconds. He doesn't say anything, just nods.

About fifteen seconds later, they hear a siren. Looking down the street, the two of them see an ambulance, lights on, rushing towards Main. Maggie looks at him, silently.

He smiles, though it's more of a grimace. "Rest in peace, big brother, he mutters. More loudly, he says to Maggie, "Told you I'm a superhero."

He shows her how to exit the car, and then follows slightly behind her.

Nightshade doesn't like the man following her, but for now it will be hard to do something about that. She walks slowly, trying to orient herself. Many things have changed, but the basic things remain the same. The houses are still white, and the grass perfectly mowed. What has changed is that the trees are taller than they used to be. And thicker, far thicker. It takes her some moments to orient herself, she always recognized the house by the nicely-colored curtains, but she can't see them anymore. In several houses people look outof their windows, suspicious of the strange girl in their perfectly ordinary neighborhood. This is not the kind of place where people go into the street, barefoot and dressed in a nightshirt. This is where civilized, normal people live.

The girl looks at the numbers and turns to a house which looks perfectly like all the others. She stops in front of the door, looking at it. She places her hand on the glass, as though she expects it to open. She looks around and tries the round knob, but it doesn't move. Then she notices a button, perhaps that will do the trick? She vaguely remembers her mother pushing those things. She presses it and hears a ringing sound from the house. She keeps her finger in place until the door is opened.

A specacled man stands in the opening. He has short black hair which is starting to turn grey. He appears to be wearing leasure clothes, although that is a concept that Nightshade doesn't understand. He looks stunned and his face loses its color. Hannah begins to speak, almost at a whisper: "Why are you afraid? There is nothing that I will do to you that you haven't done to Hannah. And don't even consider calling the police, despite what you think they cannot help you, nobody can help you. And don't shout, there shouldn't be a disturbance. Not on your birthday."

He tries to reply, but Nightshade stops him. He looks desperate, pleading even. After several such moments his face becomes blank and he says, more like an automaton than like a person: "Please sir, leave these premises, this is a family affair."

It's a Saturday, but Alex doesn't have the day off. He's doing paperwork in the back room of some overly-trending store that opened up recently. The job pays better than any other legitimate work in Devile, and besides that Alex takes some satisfaction in knowing that he's doing his part to shut down the flow of upper-middle-class gentry into Devile.

Thanks to him, everyone else working in this shop is walking around in a perpetual daze. It won't be long before this place shuts down due to their incompetence, and when it does the locals won't have to worry about overpriced stores replacing the affordable shops anymore. Gentrification denied.

And the constant flow of extra brainpower is fantastic. Alex is flying through the paperwork he's assigned and finding plenty of time to read textbooks besides. He pushes through the boredom of reading dry scientific and political texts by experimenting with his power, testing to see how much he has to drain to be able to do calculus in his head or how much brainpower he has to steal from a coworker to make them start drooling.

It's his own personal kingdom, and none of the subjects know it. All it takes is a few handshakes, a few pats on the back, and a high five or two every couple of hours.

He gets off work soon. Before long, he'll be out roaming Devile, bumping into people as he does. It's like his protection tax, making sure that others are contributing to his efforts to keep the community in their hands.

Crossing the short distance between them, he loops his arms around the mugger, trying to pin him. There's a struggle, the mugger elbowing and kicking Alex with all he's got, but the mugger's clearly in no shape for it - he gets visibly more tired and distressed with every hit he lands on Alex. Before long, Alex knocks the switchblade out of his hand and sends the man reeling over to the side, stumbling into the wall.

"Get out of here," Alex tells him, eying the costumed girl. "Unless you think the police will go so easy on you."

Before anyone can say anything, he brings his left hand close to his chest and snaps his fingers. A single black flame appears on his thumb, the darklight flickering oddly as he glances around to make sure no one else can see. What the **** is this?

Nightshade stands in the living room, this is not exactly how she had it in mind, but it seems like a suitable punishment. At first she didn't know what to do, but her mind, her precious, special mind showed her the way. They were incapable of resisting and all of them were firmly bound, one of the things that she has some experience with. But how should she have followed? She asked herself and told them all the answer, which she later wrote on the white wall, in blood of course. "You took a girl, and stopped her from seeing.
You took Hannah, and stopped her from hearing
You made me, and stopped me from speaking
I found you, and stopped you from it all."

There however was one complication, David's little daughter. She was innocent, unlike her parents, her brothers and their wifes. The path was clear, and fortune favored her by giving them all into her hands. Nightshade is untying them all, telling them in their minds: "I will give each of you a knife in your hand, you will have the choice that you never gave. You may live like this, or you may die now."

She looks at her work, and smiles. In front of her she has a bowl, where the treats for this party were. Now it is filled with eyeballs, ears and tongues. Now there are two who can see in the room, Nightshade and her niece, Carla. She wonders what will happen, will they live or will they die? She feels their thoughts and it is wonderful, so much fear, so much pain. And still, they hate her. Of course they do, but they will live, she did make a promise to this man. She walks to the kitchen, hearing the moaning. Luckily Nightshade found out how the fireplace worked, the red hot metal was more than suitable to prevent her family from drowning in blood. She looks for knives, the one that she used so far was the largest sharp one, but others will also do it, if they want it enough.

When she returns Carla is still crying, and Nightshade kneels in front of the girl: "Don't cry, auntie Nightshade won't hurt you, not like they would have done to you. Soon I will let you go, and then, then you can call the police. You are a big girl you know, you can use a telephone. When I was your age I couldn't do that. So, everything will be perfectly fine, and on monday you will be right back at school."

She gives each of them a knife, and sighs when they merely try to hurt her. She simply walks upstairs, looking for her old room. She opens the door and finds, she finds a desk, and none of her things. A tear falls from her eyes, running over the bloody face. She will have to wash herself. Luckily she remembers how the bath works and lets it run full with water. It is nice, the hot water around her turning red as the blood no longer sticks to herself. She almost dozes off, no longer paying attention to the thoughts.

Then, suddenly, sirens. She is hearing sirens, and they are nearby. They come closer. Could they be coming for her? She lets her mind wander through her victims, and the answer is yes. Her mother had reached a telephone and made a call. But, that should be impossible, phonecalls require talking. Or maybe the moaning has caused something? She steps outof the bath and starts to dry herself when she hears the sirens stopping in front of the house, and she feels new thoughts, thoughts of puzzlement.

He had no trouble getting inside, though in his rush, had found himself with time to spare. He sighed, meandering over to the television in the hall that was used to watch the news. It had been turned off during spring break, but it was easy for him to find the remote.

"Breaking News!" The anchorwoman reported, "Police have arrived at a residential home in response to a 9-1-1 call. We will report more on this story as it progresses..."

Leon watched intently as the events unfolded, becoming absolutely mortified at the mention of the eyeless, earless victims. "Good lord..." he muttered in a mixture of pity and disgust.

Nightshade steps outof the red-bubbled bath. The thoughts are becoming clearer, they are policemen and they have seen her family. They are still in shock, but she has little in the way of time. She walks away, towards her parent's bedroom, she will have to get dressed and her shirt got all wet when she was playing in the bath. The waves she made were so much fun. She is silent, her bare feet make no sound on the soft and fluffy surface. Her path however is easy to trace, marked by the wet spots.

She feels cold, maybe she should have looked for a blanket first? There is no going back now, soon the policemen will be coming upstairs, when they get Carla to talk. It strikes her, she can complicate that. She forces her way into the child's head, and the girl says, through her tearless crying: "'She went through the back door." There is some resistance, but thatis easily broken, and with a part of her mind Nightshade stops her from further words. It is disorienting, looking through two sets of eyes at the same time, but the girl's mind always was frayed, she can cope with this.

In the bedroom she opens the closet, her mother is about as tall as she is, but twice as heavy. That complicates things, but those clothes will be the closest match. There are many different things, including many without apparent purpose, or way they could work. She picks a black dress, which is too narrow for her mother. Those are simple. It fits her like a bag, but at least she understands how to wear it. And she will need shoes, her feet already hurt from the street. It is hard, many of them have shoelaces and Hannah never learned how to tie them. Others have high heels. Nightshade tries one set but when she tries to take a step she falls over. The fall breaks her concentration and the sound of the fall is easily audible. Carla shouts: "She is up!"

Nightshade throws the shoes at a mirror, breaking it. Stupid things, who would ever wear something like that? She has no time left, several of the policemen are coming towards her. They seem anxious, there is fear in them, but also a desire to hurt her. They don't know who she is. She steps back into the hallway. This will be amusing.

She faces a quartet of policemen, aiming pistols at her. Four at the same time is hard. One shouts: "Hands to the wall! Don't move!"

Nightshade takes a step forwards as she says: "No one tells me what to do.", shots ring out and she smiles. The rearmost policeman is the only one left standing, still pulling the trigger on his gun. It only makes clicking sounds. The other three are on the ground, bleeding and screaming. One is dead. She lets the man go, smiling: "Run, little man."

But he doesn't run. At least, not away. He runs at her, even going as far as trying to hit her. Nightshade sidesteps, she knows what he thinks, she knows what he will do. Another of the policemen picks up his gun, trying to shoot at her. She enters his mind, and he shoots once. He at least will not do so again. The distraction is enough for her assailant to hit her, but that is over as well when he bites his tongue and blood fills his mouth. He falls, coughing. Nightshade takes the pistols, but she doesn't shoot. She made a promise.

She has to leave, there are more people downstairs, two policemen and those who came in an ambulance. Outside there are even more, she hears the sirens. The police are good to her, they open the door just as she is at the bottom of the stairs. They are afraid, truly afraid. And that is just how she likes it. Fear gives structure to the mind, no more of those confused thoughts. But still, they are a danger. She screams into their minds, and that gives her time. She shoots. It is harder than she thought it would be. The pistols jump up into the air and she almost drops one. To make things even worse, she only hits one of them, and he doesn't even fall. Nightshade tightens her grip and runs closer, pulling the triggers again. A few moments later the weapons stop working for some reason and she lets them fall. There are hardly any thoughts left in those two. Only pain.

She looks into the living room and smiles. "I will be going now, goodbye!", she thinks into their heads. But she does need a way to leave, a faster way than walking. Another siren stops outside, a wonderful opportunity. Nightshade steps through the open front door, still smiling.

Shun Ryota, "Counter" - Day by the Lake (Flashback)

The crash had felt like end of the world.

The side of his mobile prison had bended and his world had been sent spinning with no warning whatsoever, the cuffs and leg irons preventing him from controlling his trajectory in the interior of the vehicle even slightly and causing him to be flung against the walls of the vehicle more than once as a result. The impacts drove the breath from his lungs and made his entire body ache, the only relief arriving after several painful seconds of ricocheting off the walls as the transport finally hit the lake and was stopped as a result. The sole blessing of the situation that Shun could count was that he had still remained alive.

In that, he had been luckier than the driver and guard at the front.

The situation did not seem very lucky to him nevertheless, however, as water began flooding inside front rents and broken doors of the vehicle, the heavy thing sinking quickly and taking him down with itself. At first the water actually felt like a blessing to him, giving him some clarify of mind, but all too soon he noticed the rather unpleasant sting it left behind on his skin.

So that was how he was going to die. Car crash, drowning AND acid bath all at once? Perhaps Karma was indeed a real concept.

Any further thoughts were knocked away from his head with another explosion rocking the rapidly submerging transport and giving him light concussion as he continued sinking into the lake with the doomed vehicle, what little struggling he could muster seeming pathetic in face of certain oblivion. It was not quite how he had imagined his end to be like.

However, the stinging pain of heavily chemically polluted water against his skin and eyes in particular was beginning to slowly lessen, even as his lungs began to ache in need for fresh air. At first, Shun wondered whenever or not he was indeed living especially vivid near-death experience, but soon enough he realized that the event in question was something altogether different.

He understood.

It was like a stiff lightswitch had suddenly been pushed. One moment his vision was murky and imprecise in midst of the dark water, his mind panicking... And next, everything was clear. Things suddenly made sense. He could see the components making up the water surrounding him, how the currents flowed around him. The explosion at the surface of the water had been slowed to crawl as well, his mind helpfully painting exact vectors and force of the explosion in signs even one-year old could have understood with perfect clarity.

He forced himself to swim back to the surface, achieving the feat with unnatural ease as he made use of the currents instead of fighting against them. The cuffs on his arms and legs came off with ease, his power helpfully pointing out the stress points in the mechanism and telling him exactly which direction to tug, how much force to use.

And suddenly Shun felt powerful. Even in midst of being left to die in a lake and hunted by both sides... He felt ready to take on the world. It was a new beginning. Beginning of something new and most definitely exciting.

Shun Ryota, "Counter" - Highway Robbery (Current, Open scene)

Snapping himself out of his thoughts, the recently empowered metahuman affixes his metal mask to his face and pulls up hood connected to his gray longcoat before exiting the alleyway he has been hiding in, calmly striding in middle of busy street. The traffic is heavy and motorists all around begin to honk their horns as the armored figure they initially take for stray pedestrian wanders onto the driving lane, but Counter does not care: his movements are perfectly timed, every car missing him, at times with barely millimeters to spare.

Well, they will get out of his way soon enough.

Stopping in middle of busy lane, Counter turns his gaze towards the incoming traffic and pulls a pistol from his belt, taking aim at an armored car currently speeding forward on the same lane, it's driver just beginning to realize that something is not quite right. Well, the recently empowered supervillain mercenary has absolutely no intention of allowing the man to circle around or otherwise escape: this is his first job done as publicly as this, after all, and he wants to pull it through with style and maximum efficiency.

Adjusting his aim ever so slightly as the vectors and calculations of force dance across his vision, Counter pulls the trigger once... And calmly takes exactly two steps to the side, allowing the suddenly swerving car to barely pass him by as it crashes to it's side and comes to rest against the wall of nearest building. Few would think that one gunshot could do things like accurately destroy a tire entirely with precisely planned ricochet, but he knows better. With his understanding of the world, it is very much possible.

Calmly discarding the firearm, the supervillain begins to stride towards the crashed armored car and it's valuable contents, ignoring the screaming and screeching of tires all around himself that the sudden and violent act has set into motion. Meaningless backround noise: it is time to get to work.

Having barely walked half the distance towards the upturned truck before being interrupted, Counter glances over his shoulder at the newly arrived figure, the relentless gears of his ability to discern patterns already turning in his head. From the landing to the fighting stance utilized by the recently arrived superhero, his abilities are picking up patterns. The more practiced his opponent is, the easier they are to predict... And even without that advantage, his remaining abilities will be quite enough to take care of the interruption should the need arise.

Not replying to Blastwave's challenge with word nor deed, Counter resumes walking towards the armoured vehicle in his steady pace, apparently discarding the hero from his mind. He does not have the time for nonsense the likes of which most superpowered individuals seem to relish in.

Although the shrieking noise that resonates inside his skull with painful intensity is enough to stop Counter for a brief moment, he nevertheless does not falter, nor cover his ears. It is a lucky thing for him that the enemy seems to need a moment to properly focus his talents: should the sound have hit him in focused manner from the start, he might have had real trouble remaining coherent for long enough to employ countermeasures. But thanks to such not being the case, he knows exactly what to do.

Turning back around to stare at Blastwave while barely avoiding retching from the rising nausea, Counter activates the talent that he has named himself after. Sound Manipulation he mentally specifies as the usual questioning nudge occurs in the back of his mind... And remains still and unbothered as the soundwaves are focused on him, the piercing racket dispersing immediately before hitting him and leaving him unbothered.

"This is your first and last warning: leave before you become a problem I will take care of" he says calmly, his tone disturbingly level and emotionless... And to punctuate his words, the mercenary draws a collapsible baton, the blunt weapon unfolding into it's full length in one smooth motion.

Shun Ryota, "Counter" - Highway Robbery (Current, Open scene)

Shun narrows his eyes as the superhero begins his charge, the bright, ever-changing vista of his vision pointing out the inconsistencies between the readied move and the power building around the appendage apparently meant to throw it. He can see the power rippling through the air around Blastwave's fist, how it displaces air and projects aggressive vectors outwards into the world. His eyes tell the speed and direction of his opponent, allow him to see details down to air resistance. He can practically write an essay about split second of their fight, missing no detail.

That is his gift, after all... One that has served him well in what little fighting he has done before this. And it is time to show his foe just why that is the case.

As Blastwave's fist strikes the street and makes it rumble, Counter...flows. There is no other word for it: the movement of the villain is frankly inhumanly graceful as he spins and pivots like a dervish, the rumbling earth beneath his footfalls revealing the secrets of traversing it unhindered many fractions of a second before his boots move again, just enough force exerted to right direction to negate the shifting earth and make him practically glide over fissures that emerge so slowly to his eyes that they are practically pencil strokes on sheet of paper. Rocks are sent flying from sudden quake, but the spinning motions of the villain are economic and precise, the whirling sleeves and long tails of his coat nudging the debris just enough to cause it to avoid collision with him, during those occasions he even needs to bother with it instead of dodging.

And with every flowing step he is rapidly closing the distance between himself and the hero, the collapsible baton whirling in his hand to confuse his enemy as he calmly picks the target to strike at, deciding to strike at the collarbone of his enemy. Bruises first, and if that will prove insufficient, full emergency wing treatment.

Hannah Moritz, "Nightshade" - Nightshade's first blossoms (current, open scene)

A newcomer, his mind is different, focused. Structured even. That means that it is unreliable, minds aren’t structured, aren’t calm. There is caring, caring about her family and surprise about what happened. But the calm, that is wrong. It must be like a mask, hiding his true thoughts. This is a trap, Nightshade knows it. She isn’t stupid, she won’t fall for such a simple trick.

But other things come first, the new policemen. The pair is afraid, insecure and violent. Unfortunately she doesn’t know how a car works, otherwise it would be a nice little toy. She projects herself into the one who is not driving, she already has her weapon ready. That is good. He shoots, twice. The shock of the other is amusing, as is the struggle of her mind against Nightshade’s intrusion.

”You want to talk? And yet, you say that I am not a normal person. You come here, someone told you that I was here. Why do you come, stranger? Why do you visit Nightshade? It is because of them, isn’t it? You want to save them. There is no need for that, I made changes to them, permanent changes. They needed them, they deserved them, they earned them. They did it to her, and now Nightshade visited them. And I, I like to hear words spoken, not merely thought. Let them fill the air, and the blossoms will listen. There is little time, they come for my blossoms, and I must take their screams.”

Well, Ashton just so happened to be on the freeway when this fiasco started. At first, he was just going to let the robber be and move on, but then some man showed up and decided to play the hero.
I could help either one. I might get some cash if I help the martial artist, or I could do the "right" thing.
There's a brief pause where an ear-shattering noise pierces his thoughts, and that settles everything. At least this villain hadn't caused collateral damage yet...no. Damnit...

The car explodes in black fire, shrapnel flying away from it at high velocity as a figure steps out from the wreckage. And by figure, I mean a humanoid entirely composed of fire. To add to that frightening visage, he has a small, uncontrolled aura of fear around him that automatically strengthens in proportion to the amount of fire he's using.
Zane moves into an Iron Man position, propelling himself away from the car and towards the duel between supers with a steady torrent of fire. He remains about 20-30 feet away before working on a fireball, forming it between his hands like a potter with clay. Hero, move aside or risk injury! He calls out, already having blown his chance at a sneak attack.

Raina

Raina arrives a few minutes behind the others, unlocks her office and lets the assembled supers inside. There are a few chairs, but some people will have to stand or sit on her desk. She opts to stand, herself, pacing slightly as she talks, in much the same manner as when she teaches a class. "I gather that many of you have recently stumbled into abilities outside the norm. My brief conversation with Erik, here," she gestures to the shadow-manipulator, "leads me to assume that none of us really know the extent of our abilities as yet, and it seems prudent to learn the full scope, and how to use them to best effect. I'm willing to devote time to help train some or all of you, but I'm open to other suggestions as well. Anyone wish to contribute other suggestions or comments at this time?" she pauses, waiting to see the reactions of those assembled.

" Stop the shooting now" pops up a black gloves that look armored knocking out both police officers while he caught the bullets then looks back to Nightshade " They might have done something cruel to you now may I ask who they are now and maybe you might reconsider my previous offer. That allows me to tell you my story and tell your me story in a safe place where people who are different can live freely if don't do anymore harm" proceed by taking the officer gun and shoots a bullet to her head now. In a split second he caught the bullet in front of her face " See I am different too now you can trust me" dropping the crushed bullet in her hand " Now do you want to join me for dinner Nightshade your already dressed for it?" standing right in front of Nightshade.

“How may I separate my healing power from my electric shock, and how do I stop hearing other's thoughts?

Leon scratched the back of his head. "I'm immune to booze, broken glass bottles and bullets. Probably some other stuff, too. Is there any training you can give me for that?"

It is amusing, his plans playing around in the head, the attempt to make an impression. Little does he know that she has experienced far more frightening things than being shot at. Nevertheless, games can be fun. "That certainly is impressive, but I have a tiny little question. Do you know what it is like? Have you seen? Have you heard? Have you tasted? Do you know the truth? It is everywhere but so few, so very few see it. Silence, yes silence. That is what is needed. Will you bring silence? Will you stop them? Will you bring ashes?"

More police cars and ambulances come to a halt. Someone shouts: "Miss, lie down on the ground and don't move. If you fail to comply you will be shot!"

This is disturbing, there are many of them and this man, this, Harald, that is his name, he almost wears it on his face. He is distracting her. And now escape will be hard. There even is one of those flying things, a helicopter overhead. And they are at a distance, which makes it harder to reach them. She will need a better plan, and this quick man might just be the way. She thinks into his head: "Very well then what is your plan?"

" Hey guys she coming with me now not with anyone else now because you miss treat others when you take them in especially her due to what she has done so I won't let you".

Police men shouts " Sir I will ask you to step back for your own safely now" putting up their guns ready to fire at Harald and Nightshade " Well now you think guns will work against me or her now you're wrong because somehow she made the other officers shot themselves and I can catch your bullets so stop this now". Hearing words that were being screamed now by the police " You guys are monsters, freaks even you don't deserve anything accept to be killed " static over the radio " All units stand down you're not allowed to either shot or take in either of them because of top brass getting orders to let them go free" respond back to Harald " How important of a person are you sir because we were told to back off". " Well now very important to the world think of me as a protector who can't undo damage done". Every vehicle beings to leave the area accept the one that called them freaks watching with a angry look.

Picks up Nightshade onto his shoulders running off with her just talking " So my parents have made sure since I was a child that they were to always leave me near death locked away in a dark to room with a plate of food and sunlight once every six months for 10 years not including the beating they give with anything possible" moves the clothes & body armor showing her burn marks and 10 stab wounds with other marks on his left shoulder "That just a small part of my body they stuff like that all over my so I know the truth about who people really are like. Greedy selfless people who think they can always get what they want like that cop back at the house. I do know hell because death came many times so it made me stop fearing it completely yet you do still fear death Nightshade?".

[ooc: Harald feels like his ftear and anger is completely gone accepting the fact he can die anytime and be fine with it completely only sadness mixed with a calm side remains deep down.]

They think that he is important, he makes a fine hostage then. He is strong as well, that makes him even more useful. It is a strange way to be transported, it is better than being dragged by her arms. This way she doesn’t hurt her legs. Especially the old tiles used to be really unpleasant. They caused those shallow cuts, she really hates those. When he tells his tale she feels jealous, especially because it is true. It would be so nice to just be alone. Nobody around, nobody talking, nobody thinking. That almost sounds enticing. But not anymore, she has a better way to gain silence now. It will take time, but not too much. And everyone will be punished.

He however seems to not think like that, maybe he didn’t like the darkness? Nightshade doesn’t dig deep, she wants him friendly for now. And to be friendly she has to indulge. She replies: “Death is not something to fear, it is something to embrace. I have experienced it, I have felt every little part of it, to the very end. There are many ways, but the end always is exactly the same. There is marvelous pain. Some say that there is a calm, but that is a lie. Did you know that? Even in their sleep they become the same, no matter how nice and calm they were. In the end there always is a fear. A deep fear, a terror, so nice and tasty. I like it, I love it. And I don’t fear it, all death does is end. This world, there is only one fate for it. I want to watch it burn. But you had nice parents, really nice ones. Did you take their eyes? Did you eat them? No, you didn’t. You don’t do that. You don’t burn hearts. But will you do it? Will you bring ashes?”

Erik sits at a desk near the door, still in the circle, but on the outside of it. He doesn't know these people, and can't trust their discretion. He listens to them as they speak, not electing to speak up to add any information. This many supers in one spot puts him on edge, especially not knowing what they all can do, but he stays. It's better to know what they all can do and be here than not know at all.

"They made me realize the pain and now it has made me stronger because in training with the monks over the years they taught me to face my fears using them as a source to channel it. Now I use the my fears as weapon even those the fear is stuck in mind forever". Stares ahead quickly knowing he almost at place " The darkness is my weapon of choice for I know my safety and fear is in that darkness, we will arrive soon" looks to her face and stops quickly see envy and jealousy on her facial expressions " You love the fact I lived in the darkness alone without words, now it a place I always long for everyday". Starts off again quickly as possible because he running out of time and already tired out from all this running today.

Raina smirks slightly at Leon's comment, "Immunity to alcohol might make you a better student, Leon, which would be a plus. Still, I think there are things that I could help you with. To discover the extent of your powers, for instance. Moreover, just because you're bulletproof doesn't mean that you could take down an opponent. You could learn how to do that as well." To the other one who asked a question and whose name she doesn't yet know she says, "I could definitely help you learn how to block out others' thoughts, but at the moment, I don't know if it's possible to separate your shock and heal ability. This is all just as new to me as it is to the rest of you. I would find it fascinating to be involved, however."

He disapproves of killing, strange, every even slightly special person she meets is opposed to it. Perhaps that is why they slink around in the shadows, why they don’t crush any who oppose them. They are weak, and they justify it to themselves. When it comes down to it, they will never be able to stop her because of that weakness. He tries to lie, just like everyone, the whole world always lies. And that is because of the secret they even hide in their minds, from their own minds. There is a conspiracy, a plan. Everyone is jealous of her, because of her perfection. That has to be it. They don’t understand, they don’t understand the way life works. They don’t understand her greatness, they don’t understand that she should be allowed to do everything she wants to. Her desires, those are everything. Nothing else matters. Nothing.

She looks at her surroundings, a forest, that was a long time ago. She remembers dancing through the leaves. It was autumn, and it was beautiful. Leaves were falling, like bodies. Yes, like bodies tumbling through the air. Just like Julia used to dream, she always screamed when she did so. There were just flashes at first, but this morning she saw it all. It was beautiful. She wants to see that again, but with her own eyes. ”You fight then. Do you fight often? Do you break bones? Do you rend flesh? No, you don’t. You don’t like to bring pain, you don’t see the joy in suffering. But that is irrelevant. What is relevant is what your plans are. I would appreciate it if you would tell me in words, not in thoughts. Words have that nice sound, they fill the air. Thoughts have their own beauty, but this air, it must be filled. The emptiness has to go away. It is numbing and the animals. The animals are noisy. Can you feel them? They are so different. I don’t like animals, they must die, they must be silenced. Their presence is painful.”
