IS Necrocarnate anything special without the essentia abuse? hmm?

Not really. Ignoring their ability to harvest essentia, you are better off staying in Incarnate for the most part. The only other perks the class gives is a potential boost to saves, and the ability to have 2 zombies.

That being said, I have yet to find an efficient way for a PC to abuse Necrocarnate reliably. Best I came up with was a wand of Halaster's Fetch Spell #1. It's a 4th level spell that functions as summon monster 1, except that it actually brings the creature there, and it stays there uncontrolled after the duration ends. The problem is that it's kind of a rare spell fluff wise, and using it will add up over time gold wise unless you can find a way to not burn charges.

Yes. The one other advantage of Necrocarnate is if you have levels in both Totemist and Incarnate. Because of the way the rules are, if you were a Totemist 1/Incarnate 19, you would have access to all the totemist melds, but you would be unable to bind any of them. If you take Necrocarnate, it gives you 7 chakra binds which you can use to bind melds from either class list.
