Lets say something has 4 natural attacks 2 claws, bite and tail
How would it trip? By giving up one of the attacks? Or by giving em all up?

Trips are made in the place of attacks. If you use natural attacks you may trip in place of them.

Many monsters that trip do so in addition to their full natural attack routine.

Well thing is, afaik when you trip with iteratives, you just give up one of em for a trip.
But when you have natural weapons, you attack with all of them at your max BAB (with penalties for secondary attacks).
But is the mechanic the same? Would something with 5 natural attacks be able to make 5 trip (or other) attempts per full attack?

Yes, because you don't give up an "iterative" to make a trip attempt: you give up an attack.
