Welcome to The Stick Awards II: Second Edition!

The Stick Awards are handed out to the best strips of all time as chosen by our fellow Playgrounders.

Over the next few days, we're taking a bit of a break and finishing up The Best of the Hundred Tournament for Comics #301 - #400 as we take the time to decide which of the strips really are the best of best.

For full details about the Stick Awards, and any questions about them, please check out the main thread here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=283609).

To read more about the original Stick Awards, created by Nazzo, the 102nd, please read his thread here. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34791)

To vote in this thread, simply state which comic of the five listed is your favorite. Bolding the number of the comic (Like this) helps it stand out.

Voting, which only lasts five days during the Best of the Hundred Tournament will close on May 7th, 4pm EST. Any votes made after that will NOT count toward the totals.

The winner of this Best of the Hundred final will go on to the Best of the Thousand tournament if and when we reach Comic Number 1000.

In the second semi-final, :elan: 367 - Innocent Man (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0367.html)'s unequaled eloquence proved to be too much for any other entrant, causing it to saunter into the finals with ease.

Meanwhile, http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i294/trytoguess/Shojo.png 379 - Perform IS on the Aristocrat's Skill List (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0379.html) own unique brand of reminding people of thier responsibilities was enough to secure its place in the finals as well.

Finally, :durkon: 344 - A Walk in the Park (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0344.html) ran around the stage in a blind panic, ranting and raving about conifers come to life. Its actions proved to be amusing enough to let it be the last entrant into the finals

What was once one hundred, is now but four. But as is well known, there can be only one. Which strip will win this gathering? You tell us by voting in.....

:thog: thog think thog and not-nale in 367 nailed it, not nale in 337.

Phew! With 301 eliminated, I was worried I wouldn't be able to pick just one.

It's gotta be 344 for me. As amusing as Nale's/Thog's/Shojo's antics are, the interplay between Durkon and Vaarsuvius has a quality to it that the others just can't match. Possibly because it is an interplay, whereas the others are mostly one-sided affairs.

I have the feeling that 367 will take the crown - and I'm fine with that (though I would only it as my third choice of the four strips :smallwink:).

I really like the Shojo in 379, but the shenanigans in 337 - Brief and to the Point are just too good to pass on it.

I've got to go with #344.

Wow, some tough decisions here. I don't think I'd vote for 337 or 379, since I haven't voted for them at all in the Awards. They are good strips (as shown by the fact that they got this far), I just don't like them as much. So, down to 344 and 367. As much as I like Thog's antics in 367, I like the conversation between Vaarsuvius and Durkon more. So, #344 it is! :smallcool:

367: Innocent Man remains the funniest OOTS strip of all time, in my book. So, that.

337 and 367 are good but for me 379 is still the best of the bunch.

Uugh, I hate finals, too many good strips to choose from ... I'll go with 367.

367 is automatic here. The others are not hopeless, but by comparison...

367 (in my opinion this hundred had much better strips, but they did not pass through the selection sigh)

I'll support #337 this time around, it seems (although I really like #367 as well). :smalltongue:

367 is quite possibly my favorite strip of the entire series. Not a hard choice at all for me, although 344 has some nice dialogue too.

Tough, real tough. I'm going to go with 337: Brief and to the Point.
Shojo's puppetry was good, but it doesn't stick in my mind years later like the other three do. Thog and not-nale are funny, but thog is, well, not-Roy:smalltongue:

As for 344? I loved it, but I didn't laugh nearly as hard as I did at 337. Tough choice.

344. The twist on "any sufficiently sophisticated technology looks like magic" clenches it for me. That and Durkon's panic over the trees.

Well, it looks like Thog's real name is Who, given that 367 is in First and what it parodies.

379 is the most memorable of the comics to me.

Why is 367 so popular? Do people really like wordplay that much, or is there some other reason why they one gets so many votes? Because Elan realised what Haley means to him?

Anyway, it's between 337 and 379 for me, and I think I'll go with 379, though it's tough.

#379 for me. Morbid though it may be, I lose it at "Sure thing, Lord Shojo. TELEPORT!!" every time.

Although they are all awesome, I say this
367 without question:
not nale. not-nale. thog help nail not-nale, not nale. and thog knot not-nale while nale nail not-nale. nale, not not-nale, now nail not-nale by leaving not-nale, not nale, in jail.

Translation from Thogspeak to English:
He is not Nale, he is Elan. I helped beat Elan, not Nale. I bound Elan while Nale gave him his goatee. Nail screwed Elan by leaving Elan, not Nale, in jail.

Hmmmm. Well, the strip I wanted to vote for didn't make the finals (watcha gonna do?), so it's time for second or third best for me. 344 is nice, but not really worthy of the Best of the Best, IMO. 379 has a great level of snark in it, but it's just a bit under the cut for me. So between 367 and 337 for me.

I've said before that 367 is a worthy winner, but for me 337 is a hair better. As I said last time, I can sympathize with the frustration that Nale undergoes there as he rails against the arbitrary nature of the universe. So I'll go ahead and throw my vote to it.

And with that....

VOTING IS NOW CLOSED!

:elan: 367 - Innocent Man (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0367.html) is the winner of this Best of the Hundred tournament. It now moves on to the Best of the Thousand tournament.
