its probably a dumb question but can a character with Stand still give up AoO's from thicket of blades to trigger stand still's effect?

Yes, the two can be combined. Stand Still doesn't care how you got your AoO, just that you have one to use.

I disagree. Look at the feat text below...


When a foe's movement out of a square you threaten grants you an attack of opportunity[...]
Thus, by RAW, it is only on some AoO (as stated above).

Which still means the answer to the OP is "yes." Thicket of Blades just adds 5' steps to the list of movements that will provoke AOOs from you when they move out of a threatened square.

Having reread thicket of blades, I must admit you are right. That line of text seems not to matter.

I have only seen Thicket of blades used in one game I was in, and having read the text now we probably used it way wrong.
