A selection of small magic items designed not so much for adventuring but rather as a pleasant means of diversion. Apologies to Dr Weird, whose names I have borrowed for the purposes of atmosphere.

Music Box: This delicate mahogany box hides an intricate clockwork mechanism that, when wound up, plays a single, repeating tune. Such boxes come in a range of styles, a common variation being that of a ballerina that pops up and twirls when the top of the box is opened. If a suitable tune is used and the performer is accustomed to the tune, this can provide a +2 circumstance bonus to oral Perform checks by reason of suitable accompaniment. This item qualifies as masterwork. Music boxes can be made with additional tunes, but the base price rises by an additional 50gp for each tune added (as a separate piece of clockwork must be made). This has no effect on the mechanical skill bonus.
Mundane Item. Market Price: 100gp+. (Craft [clockwork])

Play Box, mechanical: This delicate teak box hides a series of tiny clockwork figures and props within that, when the correct comand word is spoken, animate and perform a predetermined show such as a play, ballet or swordfight. The box produces appropriate sound to accompany the show such as music, voices and miscellaneous noises. If this is used as an accompaniment to a story being told (provided the story is the one being performed), this item provides a +2 circumstance bonus to oral Perform checks. Most often the command word is the name of the show to be performed, although conceivably one could use different words for hidden performances. Additional shows can be programmed, but the base price rises by an additional 900gp for each new show. This has no effect on the mechanical skill bonus. The figures themselves, although clockwork, cannot be wound up by mundane means. They are animated by the magic of the box.
Market Price: 1900gp+. Creation: 900gp in materials + 72xp + a set of clockwork figures worth 100gp, ghost sound, mage hand or prestidigitation.

Play Box, minor: This delicate white oak box inlaid with copper detailing unfolds into a charming depiction of a stage. When the correct command word is spoken several illusory players, props and a background form upon the stage and enact a predetermined show such as a play, dance or swordfight. An improved version of the box includes sound such as music, voices and miscellaneous noises. If this is used as an accompaniment to a story being told (provided that story is the one being performed), this item provides a +2 circumstance bonus to oral Perform checks. Most often the command word is the name of the show to be performed, although conceivably one could use different words for hidden performances. Additional shows can be programmed, but the base price rises by an additional 900gp for each new show, or 1350gp for improved shows. This has no effect on the skill bonus conferred.
Market Price: 2200gp+ for the basic version, 3100gp+ for the improved version. Creation (basic): 1100gp in materials + 88xp, silent image. Creation (improved): 1550gp in materials + 124xp, silent image and ghost sound.

Play Box, standard: This distinctive pink maple box inlaid with silver detailing unfolds into a charming model of a stage. When the correct command word is spoken several illusory players, props and a background form upon the stage and enact a predetermined show such as a play, dance or swordfight. These are accompanied by sounds such as music, voices and miscellaneous noises. If this is used as an accompaniment to a story being told (provided the story is the one being performed), this item provides a +4 circumstance bonus to oral Perform checks. Most often the command word is the name of the show to be performed, although conceivably one could use different words for hidden performances. Additional shows can be programmed, but the base price rises by an additional 5400gp for each new show. This has no effect on the skill bonus conferred.
Market Price: 12400gp+. Creation: 6200gp in materials + 496xp, minor image.

Play Box, royal: This distinctive walnut box inlaid with gold detailing was commissioned by the royal court of Ongbar for the young Prince Regent as a distraction for between his studies. Since its development, numerous copies and variations have been made for various noble houses and performance artists. The box unfolds into a delicately detailed model of a stage. When the correct command word is spoken several illusory players, props and a background form upon the stage and enact a predetermined show such as a play, ballet or swordfight. Suitable sounds such as music, voices and ambient noise accompany the illusion, as well as the impression of heat suitable for the setting and the distinctive smells of the setting. If this is used as an accompaniment to a story being told (the one being performed), this item provides a +6 circumstance bonus to oral Perform checks. Most often the command word is the name of the show to be performed, although conceivably one could use different words for hidden performances. Additional shows can be programmed, but the base price rises by an additional 13,500gp for each new show. This has no effect on the skill bonus conferred.
Market Price: 30600gp+. Creation: 15300gp in materials + 1224xp, major image.

Play Box, assassin: A number of these boxes were used by the assassin's guild of Cruut to eliminate several political enemies. Decorated in the style of standard Play Boxes, these devices unfold into a charming model of a stage. When the command word is spoken, several illusory players, props and a background form upon the stage and enact a predetermined show, accompanied by suitable music, voice acting and other sounds. Part way through the performance the device makes contact with the mind of the person closest to the device who is watching the show and learns their worst fears. The performance then changes into a depiction of that person's worst fears for all to see and the victim is forced to first make a Will save (DC 16) to disbelieve what he is seeing and on a failed save to make a Fortitude save (DC 16) or die. On a successful save, the victim still takes 3d6 points of damage from the shock. Generally, there are no repeat showings.
Market Price: 2000gp. Creation: 1000gp in materials + 80xp, major image and phantasmal killer.

You realize you've created a dungeons and dragons power point presentation, right?

Assassin box. Best assassination tool ever. I was expecting something like "all the players come to life and kill the victim!" but no, a music box that plays phantasmal killer. Include that in a kid's movie if you want to traumatize every child in the world.

There's no end of pointless fun to be had from illusions. Take the item from which these things were based on:

Moving Picture: This masterpiece painting depicts an extraordinarily well-painted scene, likely the work of the old master Nystul the Illusionist, who was famed for producing a vast quantity of such works to support his magical research. If one watches for a little while, one realises that the lovingly rendered characters are actually moving as if alive, carrying out small tasks or playing games suited to the picture. An occasional wind rustles leaves upon trees or brings ripples to the surface of a pond. Some of Nystul's later works included ambient sounds such as wind, the sea or the faint laughter of children, designed to comfort and relax the viewer.
Market Price: around 3200gp (around 4100gp with sound). Creation: 900gp in materials, 72xp, one masterpiece painting (approx 1400gp). With sound, additional 450gp materials + 36xp.

-amused beyond all belief-

And to add on top, one of them is lethal (although, not by boredom as is normal for power point...ha)

Haley could have used one of these things when she was making her wealth-by-level argument to the bandits...
