Greetings fellow playgrounders. This thread is for instances of OOTS characters that remind you of characters in other stories. Intentional references (Example: Tarquin/Darth Vader) are not allowed. My personal one: Redcloak reminds me a lot of Morrowseer from the Wings of Fire book series. They're both antagonists who are in a deal with another antagonist. (Xykno/Redcloak Morrowseer/Blister) They both have tragic, family death related backstories. (Redcloak's family was killed by the Sapphire Guard, Morrowseer's family starved to death) and most of all, they both have been chosen by their respective species (Redcloak/Goblins Morrowseer/NightWings) to improve their lot in life. So, what can you guys think of?

The relationship between Roy and Elan really reminds me of the relationship between Church and Caboose from Red vs Blue

A lot of the hobgoblins in Redcloak's army look like hobgoblins I've seen in a webcomic. Coincidence?

The goblins, characters, and other features seem to be very similar to something that could result in a roleplaying game called "Dungeons & Dragons". Probably a coincidence though :D

I'm pretty sure the entire strip is a rip-off on The Order of the Stick.

Say what you will about which game came first, but they all use the basic calculation methods from Functions and Fractions. Quite the rage among maths students. If you haven't heard of it, you're just a noob. So, you should pretend you know it:smallwink:

Julio Scoundrel reminds me Inigo Montoya. I don't know, probably it's the bold attitude. :smallwink:

He reminds me of a bunch of Antonio Banderas characters.

But more importantly, Xykon reminds me of Skeletor.

Roys father reminds me of Minnesota Jones from Irregular webcomic. Fter thinking, they are not that similar. The only shared trait: Constantly nagging their sons:smallbiggrin:

Remember the comic strip Yamara that ran inb Dragon magazine way back when. (Referenced in SS&DT)

Here's a strip from 1989 (http://yamara.com/comics/check-on-ebay-first/).

Tarquin reminds me of Don Quixote due to their reliance on genre conventions. Jacinda kind of reminds me of Neferpitou from HxH due to the whole realistic catgirl thing

Elan reminds me a little of London Tipton from Disney's 'Sweet Life of Zack and Cody' and 'Sweet Life on Deck', mainly the whole "Yeah Me" and moments of brilliance hidden in tons of 3/4 empty airhead.

Those black-hooded creatures look totally choppy and unrealistic! Their eyes are all the same color! How are you suppose to tell which one is Lawful, which is Neutral, and which is Chaotic?
