You and your squad sit aboard the stromtrooper transport Delta 1, en route to the star destroyer Invincible. Freshly out of boot camp, you are in your brand new jet black imperial uniforms. Your armor, weapons, gear and personal belongings are stored under your seats in grey spacers chests. The seats line the sides of the small craft.

You can see into the cockpit of the ship and you see the heads of the pilot and co-pilot, two soldiers also wearing the black uniform of stormtroopers, you also see the glowing blue tunnel of hyperspace, it spins clockwise as the ship barrels along its trajectory.

“We’re approaching the Dellalt system, prepare to cut to sub light engines.” The pilot says over the intercom, as he flips on the red light, indicating everyone should sit down and buckle up.

The small ship shutters as it reverts back to real space. Moments later you feel the ship lurch as the pilots begin manipulating controls and the ship swings around and faces something amazing.

“Hey corporal, you may want to take a look at this” the copilot calls back to Corporal Beltane.

Marr had been sitting most of this time anyways watching the other members of his squad. They hadn't had much time to socialize which suited him perfectly. Reaching up he smoothed back his hair with his cybernetic hand, then the pilots spoke up and he had to buckle up in his seat. These shuttle rides always got a little rough coming out of Hyperspace. They spoke again, this time to the Squad's commander a noble born named Beltrare. Marr stayed silent waiting to see what happened next.

Corporal Beltane Dhurka looks between the men and then rises, pulling down the edges of the top of his uniform, straightening it crisply. His last glance was reserved for the highly polished protocol droid that sat at his side. Vaiken, knowledgeable in as many forms of military procedure as there were stars in the sky sat there, as valuable to Beltane as he was motionless. He walked forward, towards the cockpit of the craft, looking down to avoid tripping over the bulkhead as he passes the doorway into the cockpit. "Yes, pilot? What is wrong?", he said, in a noticeably formally accented voice, a testament to his heritage and family. He stood to his full height, hands clasped behind his back once he had entered the cockpit, looking at whatever it was the co-pilot felt he should see.

Kenth Daruss is jerked out of a shallow sleep as the ship reverts to realspace, the buzz of the intercom, and dull pull of acceleration rousing him fully. He nudges the trooper next to him gesturing up to the exiting Corporal and the cockpit. "I know its against regulations, but should we check it out?" He rolls his shoulders a bit, stretching his lanky frame as best he can in the acceleration couch.

“Oh there’s nothing wrong at all.” The copilot says with a big grin on his face, and a touch of humor in his voice.

Looking out the windscreen you see a magnificent sight, the pride of the imperial fleet, an imperial class star destroyer hanging there in space. Its sharp aggressive lines cut through the darkness of the void, as light from the system’s sun shows off its stark white hull.

The transport is positioned “above” and to the star destroyer’s port side, giving you a truly magnificent view of the colossal warship.

“We have you on our screens now, please identify.” A board sounding voice comes through the ship’s tiny speakers.

The pilot responds by giving the ships ID number while the copilot transmits the ships’ ID codes and security pass code. Once the security clearance is authorized, the storm trooper transport begins to head towards the ventral landing bays of the star destroyer, you can’t help but notice that a tie fighter lazily flies close to your craft, it’s probably just picking up a visual ID of the little transport craft. The tie looks absolutely microscopic next to the titanic warship that will be your new home.
The ship flies “down” and underneath the huge ship as it makes its way to the main landing bay located in the ventral portion of the ship. After a few moments of flight, the transport touches down expertly on the deck of the shuttle bay.

Beltane draws in a deep breath, looking at the sight of Imperial engineering at its best, the pride of an entire system's worth of production. It's sleek lines were what would plunge into the hearts of the enemies of the Empire. After a few moments, breaking himself of this rapture, he walks back, pausing for a moment just after the bulkhead and looking over the gathered soldiers in the ship. "Let's look sharp. We've almost arrived." He walked to his seat, removing the locker from it and carrying it. He could have handed it to the droid, but this time he would not.

The back door hisses open and down, forming a ramp and you pile out taking your gear with you. Once outside you collectively form up in a line, with the corporal at the head, and come to attention as per standard operating procedure.

Four officers approach the line, three are storm troopers (distinguished by their black uniforms) and one navy officer. As they get closer, you notice something peculiar about one of the officers, something about the way she walks. Then it hits you, she. One of them is a woman, women officers in any branch of the imperial military machine are rare, rarest of all are female storm troopers, or femtroopers as they’re commonly referred to (although not to their faces).

Kenth snaps to attention as the officers approach, holding a carefully precise salute, trying to keep his concern off his face. Yes, he graduated from the academy, and as a Stormtrooper, but unless some bureaucrat had been lazy or merciful that was still on his file, and the trouble would likely start up all over again.

Beltane executes a crisp salute, holding his tongue until the officers speak, silently taking the measure of each of them.

As they approach you see one is a captain, the femtrooper a lieutenant and a sergeant; the navy officer is a lieutenant as well. When they arrive, as a group you immediately throw a salute and it’s returned by the Capitan smartly.

Corporal Beltane notices that the captain is Captain Rhyka, himself. It’s unusual for a company commander to see to replacement troops himself (that’s usually left to the platoon commander), but Rhyka has a reputation as being dedicated to the effectiveness of his unit.

Trooper Chak notices that the navy lieutenant seems a little unsure of himself, maybe it’s being in the presence of a fem-trooper, maybe its dealing with corps protocol. Since the Storm Trooper Corps is a separate entity from the Navy, they don’t share the exact same protocols. So it’s easy to see how a navy officer would be hesitant in exactly how to proceed.

You stand at attention and wait for several minutes while the officers conduct the troop transfer procedure. While the officers conduct their business the sergeant conducts his, giving your new squad a solid initial inspection.

Captain Rhyka is a tall man, lean with a short flattop haircut, and blond hair. He has a hard blue eye and a deep scar on the left side of his face. The scar runs vertically from his hair line down to the middle of his jaw, a black leather eye patch has been literally bolted to his face, the eye patch has a silver emblem, a stylized storm trooper helmet (resembling a skull even more than usual) with two blaster rifles crossed directly underneath it.

The lieutenant is of proper height for a storm trooper if not slightly under weight. She’s pail skinned and wears her strait black hair earlobe short and slicked back. She has an average chest, not too voluptuous but not flat-chested either. All in all she cuts a magnificent image in the all black uniform. If there was ever a poster-child for women in the military she would be it. In armor she would be indistinguishable from the typical storm trooper. The sergeant is dark skinned with a high and tight hair cut and a pock marked face. The navy lieutenant is fairly nondescript, the sort that's easily lost in the background.

2014-05-05, 08:54 PM
The admiration with which Beltane looks upon Rhyka is obvious even under the veneer of military discipline and propriety. The naval officer doesn't even truly seem to register to him - a different world, so separate as to be alien, and of course the alien was best for service only. The woman was something of a curiosity, and he did have to catch himself letting his gaze linger a bit longer upon her, especially as he doubted the explanation he would offer - looking given that she was something of an oddity in his experience - would sound any better than what she might assume.

"It is an honour to be here, Captain Rhyka," he said at the first opportunity to speak.

Rergun woke up from his deep nap in time to follow the others down the ramp with his kit and crate. He fell in at the end of the line dropping his kit to the left of his feet as he snapped a salute on reflex at the approaching site of officers. One's a schuta, damn gonna be interesting...

The recently shaved head under his patrol cap showed the faded ink of old tribal tattoos, skin bleaching and laser etching in basic had worn them away to nothing almost. The shadow of his tats were hidden by the patrol cap just barely.

Marr snaps to attention and salutes as the officers approach. He notices the Female trooper, but doesn't react. He withheld judgement of other soldiers till he fought with them, It was unusual. But then that spoke to her skill and resolve didn't it? Captain Rhyka looked threatening and tough, as any commander should. His spacer chest was sitting next to his ram-rod straight frame, short black hair slicked back ice-blue eyes sharp and rested.

A thought occurred to marr about what the Captain was doing here, but he didn't give voice it wasn't his place to speak out of turn.

Kenth keeps his expression carefully blank and paying no undue attention to any of his superiors. Once the fighting started, there would be plenty of time to take their measure. He was not unduly surprised by the presence of a female trooper, it has hardly normal but with the shear size of the imperial military, such things happened far more often then most traditionally minded officers likely thought.

Finding everything in order, the navy lieutenant throws a crips salute, turns on his heal and trots off, trying to not look like he’s too eager to depart. Meanwhile the sergeant finishes up his inspection, and apparently finds nothing to gripe about too much. He turns to the captain and nods.

“Duly noted Corporal,” The captain says in response to Beltane’s adulation. He cranks his head to look at the whole squad out of his good eye, “At ease" he says, and everyone relaxes a bit.

I’m Captain Tyrlis Rhyka, 827th legion, first regiment, 2nd battalion, 4th company. This is Lieutenant Rose, your lieutenant and Sergeant Tucker your sergeant.” He says, with confidence and authority in his voice. “I only have one rule, everyone fights, No-one quits. If you don’t do your job, I’ll shoot you myself. Welcome to the roughnecks.”

Without hesitation the sergeant yells out “Rhyka’s Roughnecks!” and you find yourselves responding with a proper military “Oorah” war cry in response. A proud smile tries to creep its way onto the captain’s face, but he forces it back down.

Turning to the lieutenant he says “Lieutenant, carry on”. The two exchange salutes and he turns and walks across the hangar.

“Sergeant, let’s get these men billeted.” The lieutenant says also with authority and confidence.
The sergeant immediately kicks into gear.

“Grab your gear and get on that trolley, double time it! Move Move Move!” he says pointing across the landing bay to an awaiting ground car with an open back and bench seating.

Beltane climbs onto the trolley after stowing his gear, followed closely by Vaiken. It was good to have put names to faces, as he now knew the command structure that would be over them all during their time here. The place was not unlike where they had trained - the same level of regimentation abounded - but this was different and he knew it. This was "real". There were no training exercises here, no fake munitions. He watched out the side of the open trolley, musing on what his fate would be here in this place.

Once everyone is aboard and situated the trolley, the driver punches it into gear and it speeds off out of the hangar and down the corridor towards a massive cargo lift lined with yellow and black “danger” stripes.

Lt. Rose, sitting up front, twists around in her seat to address the group. She starts giving a basic breakdown of the 827th.
“The 827th is fortunate, the entire legion is stationed onboard the Invincible. This makes logistics inside the legion easy. However because we're not spread out across multiple ships or planets, squad for squad, we don’t see as much combat as some of the other legions do. However command has compensated by keeping us on a combat rotation schedule, in theory this keeps every regiment combat ready. Additionally, our regimental officers demand a strict training schedule, guaranteeing we’re ready for action when it comes. Make no mistake, the roughnecks is combat company, expect to be in fights. If that’s not your thing, get over it or I’ll transfer you to a logistics unit before you become a problem. But be warned, the captain meant it when he said he’d shoot you for not doing your job. ”

The vehicle stops inside the cargo lift and it begins moving up, taking you into the bowels of the warship. And the lieutenant continues.
“I expect all of you to learn your way around the Invincible. It’s a big ship and easy for new troopers and crew to get lost in. I do not want you getting caught wandering into restricted areas. That embarrasses the captain, something I will not stand for, and it gives me an unwanted headache, trying to explain your idiocy.”

Lt. Rose continues on for a while talking about the history of the company, how it got it’s start in the clone wars, and how Captain Rhyka rebuilt the company after the cloning program was shut down. She explains how the company got its name as the backbone of the regiment and the hardest working company in the entire legion. A reputation Captain Rhyka and his officers are diligent in keeping relevant.

Eventually the vehicle comes to a stop in front of a large set of double doors.

‘This is where we get off ” Sgt. Tucker says.
Everyone piles out of the trolley.
“Sergeant Tucker, I’ll leave you to handle things from here,” Lt. Rose says.
The sergeant gives the lieutenant a salute, which she returns and then climbs back into the vehicle and is off. Once the lieutenant is out of sight, the sergeant pulls out a thick cigar and lights it up.

When they are off the trolley and at ease for a moment, Beltane turns to Vaiken, speaking softly but not inaudibly. "Transfer a complete map of the Invincible to my datapad. Include all relevant areas, especially marking those that are off-limits. Take scrupulously care that we know where those are, too." He turned back to watch the flame ignite the Sergeant's cigar. He was determined that he would make a good impression here, and if that meant studying maps of the starship to avoid areas that were forbidden, that is how he would spend his time.

“ Since we're in first regement, we're near the top of the list, actually sort of near the bottom of the top, if that makes any sense. I'll make a training schedule avalible to you...Now I’ll show you to your bunks.” He says after taking a long drag on his cigar.

He opens the door and you step into a fairly narrow but long corridor. Evenly spaced down the corridor are hexagonal shaped alcoves. The walls are slate grey, but the floor is red grating and there are plenty of light panels in the ceiling, making the corridor well lit. Peering in one of the alcoves, you see two sets of bunk beds set against the side walls and four lockers set into the far wall, facing the corridor. Storm troopers are everywhere, some are in armor, some are dressed down in more casual wear, some are even wearing nothing but a towel rapped around their waist. You know, the customary sights, sounds and smells of a military barracks.

A storm trooper, in armor with his helmet tucked under his arm squeezes by you and says, “Fresh blood eh Sarg?”
“ Don't you know it,” the sergeant responds.

The trooper pulls his helmet on and heads out the door, not even stopping to throw a salute.
You continue down the corridor until you reach two empty alcoves.

“Here we are, let’s see… SJ-521, SJ-961, SJ-728. He says indicating one of the empty alcoves. " And over here we have SJ-408, SJ-782, SJ-314 and SJ-372.” He says, reading designation numbers off a data pad.
“Now I’ll leave you to get acquainted with the rest of the unit. Since I've got better work to do around here than to babysit new troopers.

The sergeant turns and heads back the way you came, not even waiting for you to throw a salute or anything.

Zor will claim a locker and a bunk and link up to the ship's computer to get a map of the ship and a location(s) for everywhere restricted for the map so he could avoid going to those places. (Zor is getting a map and marking down what is restricted so he won't get lost and won't end up anywhere he isn't supposed to be; you can ignore this if our corporal has his droid give us the information)

Zor will then check to determine meal times, then get back to his reading before going to meal or needing to do a job. He will place the spacer's chest into the locker, remove gear and sort it out if need be before he settles down to read. He will observe the rest of the barracks, to see how much attention the newbies are getting and will speak to anyone that comes up to him politely.

Plenty of time to muddy it up later, after stowing his things he looks around at the others he'll be bunking with after a moment he walks away from them unsure of what to do now. He removes his toolkit from his gear, and peels the top of his uniform off, fully revealing the Cyber prosthetic that had replaced his left arm and the scarred torso on which it rested.

The arm was mostly black except for the shoulder which was white with the Imperial Seal stamped in black upon it. Removing a few tools he began some routine checks on his arm, he didn't think anything was wrong but he needed something to do and it had been a while. Any important maintenance would have to be done by someone more familiar with medical operations but basic things he could do himself.

Zor finds a simple map of the star destroyer. The map contains the basic layout of the ship, where the crew quarters are, where the bridge is, where the landing bay is, engineering and the weapons bays (for the capital scale weapons) are located. Storm troopers of your rank do not have access to the bridge, engineering or the weapons bays.

However, the map Vaiken downloads is much more detailed. It gives the layout of the corridors in the star destroyer, showing you where the locations of the mess hall, the brig, officers quarters, briefing rooms, smaller engineering bays (which you do have access to), and a handful of other places. It even details who is billeted in which parts of the crew portion of the ship.

As you unpack your gear, a trooper steps up to you; standing in the middle of the hall way. He has black buzzed hair and is wearing a white tank top and black PT shorts. He has a tattoo on his right deltoid; a stylized storm trooper helmet, again bearing closer resemblance to a skull, and two crossed blaster rifles underneath it. It’s the same symbol on the captain’s eye patch.

“Replacement troops eh. I’m Hicks, NJ-458,” he says, rattling off his designation mechanically. “I’m sorta the unofficial welcoming party around here.”
“Let me introduce you to the guys.” He says waiving his hand for you to follow. He heads down the corridor, and nods to a dark skinned trooper lying on his bunk in his undershorts and a white tank top. He’s reading a letter written on a piece of actual paper.

“That’s Loverboy, he’s got a girl in every port.”
“Lies, unsubstantiated rumors,” he says, looking up from his letter, “It’s from my girl. She promises she’ll save herself for me.” He says, indicating the letter in a self satisfied voice.

“Yeah, too bad he never promised her that, hahah!” Comes a humorous voice, and another face pops into the conversation.
Loverboy grabs a knickknack from somewhere and throws it at the new face, who takes it in stride with a chuckle.

“This is Mouth,” Hicks says with a sigh. “We call him that because he’s got a big mouth”
“That’s me, the academy on Cardia sits five centimeters lower than it was before I got there, and they still couldn’t shut me up!”

Turning to the group Hicks says “ What’d I tell you, never shuts up.”

As his regimen neared its completion, he looked back to Vaiken. "See to it that the entire squad receives a copy of this map. Also, begin querying the ship's records. I want to know if there is anything in particular I should know that will assist in our function here. Make yourself at home and absorb all information you can."

His instructions given to Vaiken, he turned to follow Hicks as he continued his 'tour'. This gave him an opportunity to observe his fellow squadmates as well. A curious lot, but everyone in his experience had a story. His job, he knew, when he did become an officer, would be to help those stories work towards the greater good. He nodded hearing Rergun's suggestion. "I feel as though I could use much the same, Rergun. My name is Beltane, Beltane Dhurka. SJ-521." He gestured back over towards the black droid. There’s the rec-room down the hall. Aside from there, there’s the usual. Hicks says shruging.

Continuing on down the corridor, you come to a cross section. One direction leads to a large communal refresher area, mostly showers and toilet stalls. Directly opposite from the refresher station is a large rec-room. There is a big screen vid screen set into the far wall; it’s playing a pod race, no one is watching it. There are several large tables, two holographic game tables one is being used by a pair of troopers and even a bar, though there is no bartender and it seems to be devoid of liquor. althought a few troopers sit at the bar chitchatting. There’s a group of troopers playing cards at one of the tables.

“That one with the big pile of credits is Gambit, says he joined up to get away from some debtors.”
Gambit seems to ignore the introduction and instead lays his cards down and says “Sabacc!” loudly and two of the troopers throw their cards down in dismay.

Stepping past the intersection, Hicks points at a gruff looking storm trooper, he’s also wearing a white tank top, a folding table is taking up most of the alcove space and there is a stripped down light repeating blaster covering the table. The trooper is cleaning the weapon.

“This is sergeant Stone, it’s not his real name we just call him that because he’s a stone cold killer!”
The sergeant looks up from his work and shoots Hicks an icy glare. He turns to you and says “New blood eh? Just do what you’re told and stay out of my line of fire and we’ll get along,”

“You’re cold man, ice cold” Hicks says, but the only reply is another icy stare and a metallic click as he slides a part of his weapon into place.

“This is Blastproof,” Hicks says, indicating the alcove across the hallway, “We call him that because he keeps getting shot and just won’t die. How many times you been shot man?”

“Five times” blastproof says, as he sits on his bunk reading a dirty magazine.

“Six times, you forgot about the time you got shot in the ass”. Mouth interrupts again, this time squeezing by the group on his way down the hall.

“That was a slug thrower and doesn’t count; it just bounced off my armor.” Blastproof replies.

"Well I think that just about covers all the introductions. We mostly stick to the barracks when we're not on duty or training. The navy yo-yos don't like us getting in their way and most of us would rather not be in their way, so it all works out in the end."

The layout of the star destroyer isn’t as daunting to figure out as it may have initially seemed. So it’s not long before you’re able to get to the more commonly visited areas of the ship without a map. Those would be the galley, the shuttle bay, your barracks, the staging area and the training facilities, which mostly consist of an improvised gym and a shooting range, both of which are made out of a converted cargo bay that’s been cut in half and modified. The training regimen that Sgt Tucker gave you indicates that you’re not up for drilling for at least a month.

So next to learning your way around the ship, you start getting acquainted with the rest of the troopers and NCOs in the company. They’re a hearty bunch, confident in their abilities but with no doubts in their minds about their own mortality. 3rd squad; sgt. Stone, Hicks, Loverboy, Mouth, Gambit, and Blastproof seem to stand out the most out of the group of soldiers. The whole company seems to be a little lax on the regulations, Stone says that the captain lets his officers and NCOs play fairly fast and loose with the reg. He doesn’t want his troopers so wound up with duty they can’t perform when the blasters start firing.

One day, Stone and Mouth corner Corporal Dhurka. Mouth, as per usual, starts the conversation.
“So Dhurka, what’s with that protocol droid? You some sorta blue blood?” he asks, completely ignoring the corporal's rank.

Before you get a chance to respond, a claxon blares and little red strobe lights drop down from the ceiling in the barracks and star flashing slowly.
“We’re being scrambled, get your gear and get to the staging area!” Stone says, glancing up.
He and Mouth then disappear down the corridor to their bunks to start donning their armor.

after getting into your armor and getting the rest of you gear; you arrive at the staging area and see nearly an entire company of troopers forming into platoons. Heading in you find your platoon and fall in. Everyone is here. Sgt. Stone and his squad is there, he’s modified his armor by taking two additional utility belts and attaching them to his, pulling them up and over his shoulders like suspenders, he’s toting his light repeating blaster. Blastproof is the easiest to spot, the chestpeice of his armor is pitted, marred and blackened from getting shot so many times. Hicks has a scatter gun rigged to his back, says its for "close encounters".

The far wall of the staging area is a heavy blast door, it’s been pulled open and you can see into the adjacent shuttle bay. Sitting on their pads are four sentinel landing craft, each more than capable of holding a full platoon of storm troopers. Their engines look like they are being warmed up, as they are glowing a dark blue.

Shortly Sgt. Tucker comes by, his helmet off and tucked under his arm and a cigar in his mouth. He starts an inspection. He stops in front of Zor and grabs his armor at the collar and gives it a tug. Seeing it not budge, he says “good!”

“This is what I like to see, A bunch of bad ass storm troopers ready to get some. Now get in that drop ship! Go Go Go Go Go!

You load into the ship and find your seat with your squad, the other troopers in your platoon do the same. Lastly the lieutenant steps aboard, in full armor sans helmet which is tucked under her arm.
She heads to the front of the ship and gives an impromptu briefing.
“Ok listen up; this one’s going to be rough.
Our mission is to assault a rebel stronghold. Intel says that this is a major rebel base, not some terrorist cell operating out of someone’s garage, so we’re hitting it hard. The roughnecks have been given the task of kicking their door down. The whole company is going in on this one.

Apparently, they’ve set up base in an abandoned mineral mine. We’ll be right in their back door, so expect heavy resistance, dirty fighting, booby traps, ambushes, hit and run fighting the works. Fighting will be close quarters, maybe even hand to hand. The mine is pretty extensive, our spies have not been able to get a detailed layout of the interior of the mine, but they did drag up some old maps of the mine via the holonet. I’ve no idea how accurate these maps are.

The mine is too deep to blast from orbit, so we have to pull off an old fashioned ground assault. The basic plan is to have some tie fighters strafe the LZ so we can make our drop, and fight our way into the base. Since we don’t have a precise layout of the opposition’s defenses we’re going in pretty much blind. We’re improvising a lot on this one.

First and second platoons will hit the front door, our job is to hit what we think is an emergency bolt hole, a backdoor if you will, while Fourth hits what we think is a star fighter bay. Fourth battalion provides support as usual. We hope to either cut them down as they flee, or catch them in a cross fire. Either way, we should have them pretty much surrounded. Intel wants prisoners so we're giving quarter on this one, take surrendered personnel or any wounded you come across prisoner, stun them if you have to.

The brass thinks they may be on to our spies so we’re hitting them hard and fast so they don’t scatter. We hit atmosphere in two minutes.”

She then sees to the door securing it and finds her place, buckles herself in and pulls her helmet over her head, instantly blending into the group of storm troopers. A moment later you feel the ship lurch as the star destroyer drops out of hyperspace. Seconds later the landing craft is airborne and cruising out of the docking bay at a totally unsafe speed. Moments later the ship starts rocking and jumping as it inters the planet’s atmosphere.
As the going gets rough, several of the guys from 3rd squad ( sgt. stone, Hicks, Loverboy and the others) take off their helmets and sit on them.

Watch out for grenades. Standard operations and we'll all be back in the barracks for dinner." The comforting sound of the warriors beginning their descent, and the slight humming up of weaponry surrounded him like a symphony. "Vaiken...monitor the area and provide me with tactical updates as the rebels reveal themselves."

You hear the screech of a tie fighter flying past the ship as the bumpy ride smoothes out and the ship flattens out. You hear the tie fighter’s guns open up, spitting death as it screeches on a head of the landing craft, clearing the way for your ship to make its landing.

You don’t wait long as the ship decelerates fast enough to tug at your restraints. Suddenly the ship drops straight down, Sgt. Stone and their squad put their helmets on and everyone begins unbuckling the restraints. Suddenly the ship stops with a rough bump and the assault ramp drops down.
Lieutenant Rose is the first out the door, followed closely by her squad (1st squad), the rest of you pile out in a semi-organized mess. You are in a clearing, there is a thin line of trees close by.

The platoon makes it to the trees without incident. Beyond that you see a cliff rising up, forming a mountain. At the base of this cliff there is a large hole dug into the side of the mountain, a primitive track way leads inside and disappears into darkness. Flanking the entrance to the mine there are two large fortifications build out of sand bags. They’re both about 6 feet long and approximately four feet tall. The fortifications are open topped. Sitting on tripods at the front of each of the two fortifications is an Eweb heavy repeating blaster. They are manned and haven’t noticed you; instead they are firing at the tie fighters that zip over head.

“Third squad, flank the bunker on our left, fourth squad, flank the bunker on our right. 1st and second squad will provide a diversion. Go!
Both squads head out. Rergun finds an easy path leading up and around the open field, heading up into a steep mountainous path. It seems like a game trail, but it brings you within striking distance of the fortifications and provides you with enough cover not to be noticed easily. Gage even finds himself a fallen log he can use to brace his repeating blaster. From your position you’re up a little higher than they are and can see down at an oblique angle into the bunker.

A few moments after you’re in place, you hear an audible “click” in your comm. Unit. The sergeant makes a double click back through his headset. And then you hear the lieutenant give a charge single.

Two squads of storm troopers charge out of the trees to your left, running up the field. A half a second later, the two E webs see them two, reposition their guns and open fire on the squad. A near constant stream of red blaster fire spews forth from the two tripod mounted guns as they try to rake the oncoming storm troopers. The group of imperial soldiers comes to an immediate halt, as they hit the deck in the grass and return fire.

The blaster fire is only accurate enough to keep the enemy’s heads down, probably intentional. However one of the rebels, a twi’lek manning the E-web, pushes a box against the sandbags with his foot and then hops up onto it. He then presses his crotch into the butt end of the e-web and continues firing laughing like a maniac as he does so.

Peeking around the corner, Regrun and Kenth sees a large cavern; centered in it is a cargo skiff partially loaded up with crates. Next to that there is an older model cargo load lifter, but it seems to be non operational as the side panel has been pulled off and a rebel tech is bent over it working on the mechanism.

Standing between the cargo skiff and you are several crates that look like they are waiting to be loaded up onto the cargo skiff. You spy two more rebel techs manually loading a black crate onto the cargo skiff; a brown furred wookiee is also helping load boxes onto the skiff, doing the work of two people. Clearly they are trying to evacuate the base. The cargo skiff is pointed towards a larger corridor that probably leads out.
Regun also sees about five rebel soldiers taking up position among the crates of cargo. It looks like they heard the shooting from the short fight with the sentry guns and must be acting as a rear guard.

Meanwhile Kenth senses the presence of ten entities on the other side of the rock wall (where Regrun is looking), even though there are only nine visible. Two of them are non-human. Marr’s sensor pack also picks up nine life forms other than your squad.
Beyond the loading area there is a series of windows and a door set into the stone wall.
The two sentry guns are wrecked, nothing seems salvageable.

Game rules information

Regrun and Kenth get improved cover (+10 reflex defense) because they’re peering around the corner (I imagine only two people can peek around a single corner at a time).
The rebel soldiers are using the crates as cover
The wookiee and two of the three soldiers spotted both Regrun and Kenth as they peaked around the bend.

Surprise round:
Only Regrun and kenth get to act because they are the only two in position to shoot or be shot at. The rest of the squad is not caught off guard, but there’s a rock wall between them and the bad guys as well so they can’t be attacked either.
But only two soldiers and the wookiee get to act.
Feel free to roll initiative and post actions, but only Regrun and kenth get to act this round. everyone else’s actions will take place in the next round.

Regrun opens fire with his weapon, spraying blaster fire into the area, he manages to catch two taking up positions too close to gether and they’re forced to keep their heads down. Meanwhile Kenth takes more precise aim and catches a rebel in the chest, blasting a nasty burning hole in his chest and putting him on his back. He doesn’t move. Return fire is sporadic at best and inaccurate, you see blaster bolts slam into the wall in front of you, leaving smoking holes and showering the area with some shrapnel.

Game rules information

Surprise round is over. Regrun wounded two rebel troopers with his autofire, failing to hit both of them, so they take half damage.
Meanwhile Kenth manages to straight up kill one.
Regrun and Kenth have improved cover, giving them +10 to their reflex defense (making them near impossible to hit) while the others have total concealment and cover because of a big rock wall In the way.

In order for everyone to get in the combat, someone’s going to have to move into the room. You can make the distance to the crates in one round. either that, or people make a move action to make way for another.

So we’re moving on to the first round. I’m keeping track of initiative. Regrun and Kenth are at the top of the round again, so i'll need another action from you two.

The rebels are hammered by a volley of blaster fire from Regrun as he sprays crimson death madly into the room. He hits a rebel soldier center mass and a technician near the cargo skiff, They both go down. A blaster bolt slams into the wall doing nothing. Gage's grenade lands amongst the rebels hiding behind the crates, you hear a trooper yell “grenade!”, but its too late, the device detonates in a deafening explosion, one trooper rag-dolls up and onto the crates and another is blown backwards into the center of the room. The remaining techs scramble for cover, shooting high as they go.

In the madness of someone chucking a grenade in an enclosed space, Beltane, and Sgt Tucker make a mad dash to the relative safety of the crates, firing shots as they go. Beltane is rewarded with a scream of pain as his shot finds its mark, the sergeant’s shot goes wide.
Suddenly a big brown furry thing appears in front of the two leading the charge, a heavy fist comes crashing into the side of the sergeant’s helmet and he goes flying into the wall with a sick crunch. The sarg slides to the floor and doesn't move.

But then the wookiee is lifted into the air and thrown against a large crate, head first. Then blaster fire lights him up, scorching his hair and severely injuring him.

Roaring in pain, the wookiee, faces Rergun and lets out a terrific wookiee battle roar, which seems to reinvigorate him, despite the blow to the head and the multiple blaster shots. He steps forward and takes a swing at Regrun, the guy with the vibro blade, roaring as he does so. Fortunately he manages to stay out of the reach of that deadly fist.

While the demolitions men set their charges, the rest of the stormtroopers begin an orderly withdraw from the area. You notice a platoon of scouts has been brought down to sweep the area in their speeder bikes, looking to clear the area of any outlying rebels that may have been missed.
The prisoners are bound properly and loaded up onto a Lambda shuttled that touched down near your awaiting sentinel landing craft. Marr is ordered to hand over the Intel to Captain Rhyka as he’s the ranking officer in the area.

Gage loses 3 explosive charges, but gains 1 missile launcher with a built in range finder:

Merr-Sonn Plx-1M portal missile launcher (standard missile launcher) (heavy weapon)
Damage, 6d6, stun --, ROF: 1 weight 10 kg, slashing,
Range increments: point blank 0-50, short 51-100, 101-250, 251-500

The missile launcher is an area effect weapon; it holds 4 missiles in a pre-loaded cartridge. Magazines cost 200 credits and weight 5kg. The weapon has one upgrade point (see Scum and villainy for details).
Additionally this weapon has a laser rangefinder attached to it. With the range finder, the user takes no penalties for firing at a target at short range. The benefits of this do not stack with a targeting scope, however it is an after-market kit and can easily be removed from the weapon. It takes up one upgrade point.

Marr also gains one encrypted data card.

Gage was smiling ear-to-ear under his helmet. His first mission had been a complete success. Even the bulk of his prize couldn't weigh his spirits down.

Marr handed the intel over as ordered then took his place among his companions awaiting orders. He did his best to keep the palmed Data-card hidden among his gear, he'd try to have a look at it later when everyone else was busy or ideally back on the ship. He'd probably need help cracking it's encryption but hey it was just rebel encryption. It's not like it was Imperial Intelligence or anything like that.

Kenth was in a somewhat somber mood as the platoon heads back to their transport. There was going to be some questions when they got back to the ship, no doubt about that. The best thing right now would just be to keep his head down and try to get through it all.

Eventually the demolitions squads return to the surface and everyone loads up back in the sentinel landing crafts and as a group the whole company of storm troopers blast off back into space, while air borne you feel and hear a deep explosion coming from the surface. It must have been the work of the demolitions that were set. Considering the sound and the shockwave, it’s pretty safe to assume that nobody’s going to be entering those mines again.

The flight back to the invincible in uneventful, although anyone looking out the window will see several other imperial ships in the vicinity, most are lighter warships, corvettes and frigates. However you do spy several assault transports approaching the planet. It looks like command has decided to leave a presence on the planet.

Once back on board the Invincible, the wounded and dead are taken to the ship’s medical facilities. Gage is stopped briefly because of his brand new missile launcher, but the junior navy officer lets him go with minimal fuss. You are debriefed quickly, afterwards you’re able to return back to the barracks for rest.

Zor will keep watch for an opportunity to confront Marr in private, so he can learn what Marr is planning to do with the datapad and whether Marr's plans will result in trouble for Zor. Zor will keep his blaster pistol handy and hidden if need be, just in case Marr tries anything violent.

When Marr returned to his quarters, and stowed his gear he would remove his Cybernetic arm. Sanisteam then reattach it. He took out the Data chip/pad and gave it a look over, to determine what it needed to be slotted in, in order to read it. If anyone approached him he'd quickly stow it in a pocket or slip it just inside his arm. Where it would look like a part of his prosthetic.

Zor discretely asks Marr about the datapad and why he took it, plus what he plans to do. Zor will keep his hand on his blaster pistol in case he needs to draw it for self defense.

Ok guys I’m sorry to do this but I’m going to have to officially end this game.

My life is nutz right now and I basically don’t have the time to DM. It looks like it’s going to be that way for the foreseeable future.
Thanks to everyone that’s stuck it out with me, I’m sorry to end on this note but I feel that I can’t really do the job of DMing justice right now. Hopefully things will settle down.

I posted this same message in the OOC thread, if you checked that first.
