Thanks for the tip, I was looking through the forum to see if anyone else picked up the style change and if there was a reaction to it. (and if there was, what was it?)

Nobody except Rich can tell you whether it's a permanent change or just an experiment.

Reactions are mixed, but mostly positive, with most of the praise going to the backgrounds, details, and perspective and most of what wigginess there is revolving around the limbs.

Tweet at or PM the Giant; he's the only one who can actually answer your question. Personally, I think the changes made to the art style will not be reversed, though they will probably be modified. You might get a dozen or more other predictions. But all of them will mean absolutely nothing.
