Not sure if any of your players wanted to dig into Netherese magic or not, but it does make an interesting idea for 3.5. Couple of questions regarding the Netheril though...

1) Is there a spell book or spell of Netherese magic?

2) Could you create a Mythallar using 3.5?

3) If using multiple wizards to cast/create Netherese magic or Mythallars, how would that reduce spellcraft DC checks? For every wizard decreases the check by 10? 100 DC spell would take 10 wizards taking 10?

This thread (http://forum.candlekeep.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6093) might have some info (though I didn't take the time to read it myself, so it could be useless).

Also, "mythallars," not "mythallar's." Nothing belongs to the mythallar in question.

Yes. One can create Mythals in 3.5
Lost Empires of Faerun pages 45-46 detail the process
Spoiler: It needs an epic spell

Weird, LEoF seems to be very.... customizable? Creating a Mythallar to float a city would be up to the DM? The cost would be pretty high though, I'm going to take a look at those tables in the epic level handbook....

Yes, "obtain DM approval" would be step 7; right before the Profit step
It would prolly be a Major Prevalent Power, making the city floating.
I would check the Stronghold Builder's Handbook for that. After all a castle can easily be a city (we call them arcologies nowadays)
