So how would it be ruled if someone were to shape a wall of stone into a spike when they are making it shoot out of the ground at an enemy?

it gives a reflex save to avoid entrapment normally. so i would assume they would get a reflex save to avoid damage. but how much damage would it do? also is it possible to shape wall of stone into a spike and do this? because it says "almost any shape"

also please post some creative and effective uses for wall of stone

thanks =D

The wall cannot be conjured so that it occupies the same space as a creature or another object.Unfortunately this means you can't impale people with wall of stone (note that Stone Shape doesn't have the same restriction if you have a very lenient DM).

There are many ways (albeit not necessarily all that creative) to effectively keep people in certain areas without "entrapping" them with Wall of Stone. For instance, if you wall off all directions except through the big stupid fighter's square, technically your foe is not entrapped, but unless he's good at tumbling or breaking down walls he's stuck there. Also, depending on DM interpretation it may not count as entrapment if you leave a labyrinthine small-sized hole that the subject could squeeze through over the course of several rounds in order to escape.

You're also not entrapping enemies by merely blocking their quick entrance into a battle, so long as they have other exits; for instance, in a dungeon, the barbarian got a little loud and alerted other local sentients. Before they swarm you, you can Wall of Stone the entryway some were using. Deal with some now, and the rest have to go around or spend time knocking it down, but they're certainly not entrapped.

This doesn't work with wall of stone, because, "The wall cannot be conjured so that it occupies the same space as a creature or another object." You'd probably be better off trying to find creative uses for something like stone shape, which moves less stone, but does so in a broader variety of ways. I'm somewhat doubtful that you'd be able to just stone shape some stone into someone, because there's no implication that the stone moves forcefully, but you'd likely get some offensive abilities out of it. After all, sending a spike into someone is a lot like creating a pit of spikes beneath that person, and letting gravity do the work.
