Hi all, I'm about to start a Pathfinder campaign in the Shackles and one of my players asked if I was going to allow the variant spellcasting from deities that was just introduced with the Inner Sea Gods. I don't have that book yet, so I don't know anything about it other than the descriptions that are in Hero Lab. My question is, does the variant spellcasting replace anything? Or are they just additional boons to someone at sea who worships that deity? Any clarification on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all!

It does not replace anything, it simply adds new options to what divine casters can learn/prepare. For example, Besmara's clerics

may prepare lesser geas as a 4th-level
spell and curse of disgust as a 5th-level spell, but can only
use them to cause aversion to boats, ships, or open bodies
of water.

Cayden Cailean has the best variant spellcasting though. His clerics can create ale or wine with Create Water.
