Ok so I've seen two terms "gish" and "gestalt" yet I have no clue what one is. Also If I remember correctly, new to dnd and pen and paper rpgs, 4 legged creatures such as my animal companion should get a bonus against tripping attacks. I can't seem to find the rule though.

Gish: Can use both Swordfighting and Spellcasting in combat

Gestalt: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/gestaltCharacters.htm
Basically taking the best of 2 classes each level.

Trip (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/combat/specialAttacks.htm):

The defender gets a +4 bonus on his check if he has more than two legs or is otherwise more stable than a normal humanoid. Same goes for Bullrush and Overrun.

Here is the link for gestalt (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/gestaltCharacters.htm)

Also, a gish is generally used to describe a fighter/wizard (or replacements of either archetype) hybrid. I'm pretty sure the name has something to do with the githyanki.

This contains info about tripping creatures with more than two legs. (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/combat/specialAttacks.htm#trip)

edit: ninja'd

Funnily enough, that means that Gelatinous Cubes can still be tripped, albeit with a penalty on the trip attempt. Yeah...

True enough by the core rules, but the rules compendium states that, "You can’t trip a... creature that doesn't rely on limbs for locomotion," on page 145.

Btw eggynack since you popped in for a little chat I wanted to say thanks. You and so many others have really helped me to develop my character and really bring out the "cat" if you will. I'm a tibbet and having a lot of fun. The DM who was so hard pressed on me going planar shepherd really liked my ideas and changed his tune. he thought it was very creative. I really can't thank this forum enough. I'm having a blast.

edit:

he actually is letting me use some of the stuff from here

He thought it was hilarious and gave me the feats for free.

Being a cat owner myself my wife and I both loved that link. My wife so wants to play a tibbet in her next campaign.
