Anyway, what I'm looking for is a Knight (or heavily-armored humanoid, at any rate; european-style knight is what I'd expect, but other cultures are fine) using some sort of polearm and riding a large flightless bird. The full context if you're willing to try to help with the specifics is in the spoiler, but I expect I can photomanipulate or simply go without the rest of it if I have to.

The Saenzot (singular: Saenz) of Glazfell are elite cavalry who ride the Great Skarnakan Birds of Sympolemou. These terrifying mounts resemble Secretary Birds (http://photos.zoochat.com/large/p10808611-162844.jpg) roughly the size of an Ostrich, but they are even more dangerous than that implies: These birds dine heavily on Iron throughout their lives, and somehow produce bladed feathers as sharp and tough as any knife. While Skarnakan cannot fly due to their natural armor and armament, they are capable of speeds comparable to that of an armored horse and are adept at seriously injuring both animals and humans with well-placed kicks and sharp wing-strikes.

If it helps, the Skarnak birds strongly resemble Skarmory (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Skarmory_(Pok%C3%A9mon)), of Pokemon fame, in terms of coloration and capabilities.

i sense some of these might NOT be what you were looking for. non the less...

That said, the two that are still in the quote above can work with some modification, I think. The latter rider in particular actually strongly resembles the King of Glazfell (who is a woman; succession laws are weird), so there's that. Thanks! :smallsmile:

Hey guys. So, I figure I've paid enough unsolicited tax to be worth a free picture request, at this point. here goes.

I need a young-ish crippled king, who doesn't look like a conniving a*s.
He'd be about forty, but he's world weary enough that you could probably get away with making him a bit older. I need him to be filled out enough that he looks like he could have once been a great warrior, without being a Robert Barathion (http://afondo.elnortedecastilla.es/sites/afondo.elnortedecastilla.es/files/images/juego-de-tronos/personajes/robert.jpg) (he was a great military commander before he was injured, but he hasn't even touched a sword for 20 years. This means no having him with weapons or armour.) A beard would be good too.

The injury doesn't need to be super obvious. It's supposed to be a bum leg, but anything else that doesn't scream 'bad guy' works.

For sake of reference, this guy would be perfect if he had the courtesy to be a crippled non-combatant.

That's Duncan from Dragon Age: Origins, and since you can only see his head and shoulders I'm not sure why he doesn't work out, especially if you're fine with saying his injury is a bad leg. The sword blade could be cropped out pretty easily.

the armour and bloodsplatters are the main problem. he hasn't fought or worn armour in 20 years, so those make no sense for him to be wearing at present.

EDIT: that said, knowing his name now, i might be able to find a good enough pic on my own.

The circle behind the head didn't really survive the background removal very well, and my hand with the lasso isn't steady enough to maintain a perfect ellipsoid like that. I did my best to fix it with the blur and smudge tools, though. It looks fine so long as you don't Zoom too much or look at it too hard, I think.

Don't forget to rehost! :smallsmile:

EDIT: Now that I take another look at it, I realize that I forgot to go over the rest of her outline with the Blur tool to get rid of that jagged edge. Crap.

i just did a quick google image search of "jack the ripper art" and "victorian serial killer art" there was a ton there, and about 90% were holding kitchen knives. the only issue is if you have a problem with black long coats, because about 99% of them have that as well.

i wont post pics right now because my computer is running really slow, but it should be easy to find what you want with those searches.

Here's a new one. Does anyone perchance have a pic of an attractive androgynous girl in boyish clothing? It's important that she could be easily mistaken for a boy due to her appearance, but still be recognizable as a girl if you know she is one or if you're very perceptive. She's a warrior type.

Setting the right tone via a text message can be very difficult. I am unable to post image links from my current location. You should try searching Ragnarok Online and Bushido Miniatures for an image that works for you. You can also try searching Deviantart and Elfwood for "Bishonen".

My main problem with those that weren't (and 99% of all similar pics on the web) is the clothes. Clothing of fantasy and sci-fi females has a tendency to be nonfunctional and skimpy to the point of silliness. And that annoys me to no end...

Bah, the quivers are irrelevant. The real problem is the last one's bow. I'm not sure about the second one's, and the first one's is obviously magic, but the third is so unrealistic. :smalltongue:

Gotta say, I like this one! Sort of a nice "tired, battered underdog" feel, without seeming weak, defeated, or otherwise incapable.

Also, aside from the obviously battered greaves and longsword (and of course the fact that apparently somebody forgot to knot the straps holding the plates on), there's nothing egregiously wrong with the armor, which is always nice to see.

(Seriously though, she's going to trip over her shinguard if she tries to lunge or charge)

Oh, I'm fairly sure that's supposed to be the case. But the straps don't look sheared or snapped, so it gives the impression that whomever helped her don it just didn't know their knots. :smallwink:

We're just steps away from the brink of a recursive fractal self referential bottomless pit of madness.
Only now have I even noticed the true darkness. Whatever that amber orb is lurking between the trees on the left of this shot at about neck level...
Combined with what at first appeared to be a bush at his knee also on the left of the shot, what we may have here is a mad voodoo shartmage whose familiar is some land walking arboreal anglerfish.

Could I have female Japanese spellcasters and fantasy warriors? Pictures with swords are good, but I really like naginatas, yari, yumi, tetsubo, and various other weapons, so pictures with those weapons are much appreciated. I'm more interested in variety than a specific type. If something fits the descriptor of a demon hunter or looks steampunkish or Eberronish, that's a bonus.

Cropping to Figure III alone could pass for female just fine, especially if the character has a tomboyish sense of style. (Unless the character needs to be busty or something, I guess.)

EDIT: Figure II alone could also work if the requester doesn't mind the image being faceless.

um... your emphasis on the word breast confuses me. without it i would have assumed you were asking for a woman wearing a shirt with unusually deep pockets (extremely difficult, given that muscular female art is already unusual.) but the emphesis makes me think you want a woman who has kangaroo style pouches of holding built into her breasts :smallconfused:. or maybe you want her digging through her immense cleavage (funnily enough, probably the easiest to find)?

Silverbrow humans are from Dragon Magic. Appearance wise, they just seem to be humans with a silver streak in their hair.

Over time, the overt draconic physical characteristics faded. leaving human-looking children with silver dragon bloodlines. Eventually, the dragons themselves departed these communities, leaving behind a strong draconic heritage in mostly human descendants. Because they exhibit one of the more common physical signs of draconic heritage—a silver streak or highlights in the hair—they came to be known as silverbrow humans.

ummm... i could post you some pictures here, but there are hundreds of thousands probably millions of pictures online of black winged male angels, and i frankly don't know what to give you. i will suggest some phrases to google search, though.

dark angel
black angel
fallen angel
evil angel
black wings
dark wings
D.N.Angel (manga with lead character that matches. his name is "Dark" if you need more specifics.)
"raven man" yielded some results
winged man drawing
dark winged man
black winged man

you can also add "sketch", "drawing", "speed paint", "male", possibly "anime" or "manga"(since this theme seems to pop up a lot in that genre), and maybe "colour" in as well, to cast a tighter net. of corse if you do this you'll restrict your pool of options, and maybe accidentally disqualify perfect candidates, so be weary of wordy searches. you also might want to toss "clothed" in there too, since 90% are shirtless.

I'm trying to build a selection of character portraits for my players to draw from. There's an ethnicity of humans in my setting that corresponds to African people, and wouldn't you know it, there are almost no black people depicted in fantasy images. The ones that are are almost all female, and almost all casters. So here are some things I'd like.

All true, on the other hand people have been using farm implements as make shift weapons since they came up with farming. Bill hooks and nunchuks are prime examples.
