View Full Version : DM Help Creating Magicians from Bartimaeus Trilogy

Recently, I was wondering if it was possible to make anything along the lines of the Magicians from the Bartimaeus Trilogy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bartimaeus_Sequence) in D&D 3.5.

Essentially, the Magician's power comes exclusively from summoning Demons/Spirits and binding them to their will (think of something along the lines of a Planar Blinding spell), and from magical artefacts.


So, are there any classes/prestige-classes along these lines?

(I fully expect I'll have to make up some stuff, so any suggestions would be appreciated - even if they don't fit the theme perfectly).

Also, are there any spells along the lines of the 'Planar Binding' spells, but lower level?

Any other thoughts/suggestions are welcome. :smallsmile:

There's also the Fiendbinder and Malconvoker. #rd party also includes the Demonologist, and I think there was a Genie Binder class somewhere

Yeah, I was just looking at that.

Might substitute Planar Blinding for Planar Ally though (since I feel arcane casting is a better fit than divine).


There's also the Fiendbinder and Malconvoker. #rd party also includes the Demonologist, and I think there was a Genie Binder class somewhere

Convert pathfinders Summoner over, and have it Be the shaitan binder varient. Just a thought.

That's a great idea for a core class, but what's the "shaitan binder" variant?

I can't seem to find it. :smallconfused:

Also, take a look at Binder from ToM. One of my favorite classes and almost exactly what you're looking for, I think.
