Tournament arc in our campaign. Hoping we can come out on top. We the PC and NPC are level 6. We know the wizard we are going to fight will use celerity. Artificer thinks he can win by using spell storing and use the spell Halt and Divine Might on his turn. http://dndtools.eu/spells/players-handbook-ii--80/halt--3017/ Then use his bow of sudden stunning on the artificers turnhttp://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?142764-%283-5%29-Sudden-Stunning to infinitely stun lock him into victory. If not he will most like one shot the artificer if he gets to go first. If this wouldnt work can someone help me out. If not the wizard most likly will one shot our artificer.

There are several problems with your friend's plan.

1. Halt uses an immediate action. Immediate actions consume your swift action for the following turn. Activating sudden stunning is a swift action. The combo is a no go from the get go.

2. Halt only prevents walking movement. If the wizard can fly, teleport, or kill you at range, it won't help you.

3. You can't use immediate actions while flat footed, so even if this worked you'd still be betting on winning initiative.

Beating him in initiative would be a good start. While the Wizard might well have Improved Initiative and Nerveskitter, making him somewhat difficult to beat to the punch, but if you can get your initiative higher, or roll well, you can get the first round of actions (remember, you cannot activate immediate actions if you have not yet acted. Nerveskitter is one of the only exceptions, supposedly). You could stun-lock the wizard, but unless he has been allowed to pre-buff themselves, he should be fairly easy to take out, especially if you have some heavy damage dealers. Even if you don't take him out in the first round, he now has to choose between dealing with the stunning effect of the artificer, or the heavy damage that will likely kill him in the next round. Even with Celerity, at your level the wizard won't be possible to neutralize the threatening damage dealers, the crowd-controllers, and buff himself in the same round, even with celerity. take advantage of this and kill him for it.
