Google-fu fail help finding a spell

There is a spell, I think is 3rd edition, from a dragon magazine I think, that turned an animal into a drakken beast, or darken beast. This beast would die if exposed to sunlight if I remember correctly.

Does anyone know what this spell is and if there is a link to it anywhere

I couldn't find it using darken beast - who knew you had to put them together.

i have a fondness for that spell, we recently got transported to modern day England, and turned an entire industrial size chicken coop into darkenbeasts, and released them onto London for fun

I can't think of a better use of that spell!
(having lived in modern London for a time)

and I agree with you, i like the spell, but it's a bit high level, also I've always liked getting Deeper Darkness cast on them too...
