View Full Version : Pathfinder A few questions for an encounter with a bone oracle and her minions

I have a few questions. I'm not that good with rules and options, so I would like your help. This is by using the PF rules only (No importing from 3.5):
1) Is there any feat or ability that enables a divine caster (Oracle 7, bone mystery) to perhaps create Juju zombies? how do they cost for the animate dead spell? Is a feat a worthy expenditure?

2) Is there a way to have a findish minotaur bodyguard be healed by negative energy? Without adding class levels? (And keeping it fiendish and not undead)

3) If the oracle above uses a bow, is there any enchantment of up to +2 that especially fits a necro themed or demon themed Oracle especially? Any specific spells (3rd and below) that could enhance the bow nicely for a fight?

Thanks! :smallwink:

I'm away from books at the moment, so this is off the cuff.

1) Not that I'm tracking; I'd justify as a feat with the same raising costs as a fast zombie. I can't remember the abilities of the Juju zombie.

2) I know there is a feat that has the requirement of CON 15 that gives that ability; I cannot remember the name of it though. I think it's Negative Energy Affinity or something like that.

3) Unholy seems an obvious answer; I'd also consider spell storing and using it to channel your Inflict Spells at your allies/enemies. The ranger spell "Gravity Bow" would boost damage, as well as "Aspect of the Falcon" for some awesome boosts. Since you are a charisma caster, it should be easy to get a few wands and UMD them.

You need Create Undead (https://sites.google.com/site/pathfinderogc/magic/all-spells/c/create-undead) to make Juju Zombies (https://sites.google.com/site/pathfinderogc/bestiary/monster-listings/templates/zombie-juju-cr-1). You could make up your own feat to alter Animate Dead for this purpose, but I wouldn't recommend it - Juju Zombies are surprisingly powerful, retain all class levels, and gain a number of nice immunities. Tacking that template onto someone with a 3rd-level spell is plenty easy to abuse.

Spell Storing (https://sites.google.com/site/pathfinderogc/magic-items/magic-weapons/magic-weapon-special-abilities/spell-storing) only works with melee weapons, but Conductive (https://sites.google.com/site/pathfinderogc/magic-items/magic-weapons/magic-weapon-special-abilities/conductive) would allow you to channel your Bone Mystery powers through your ranged attacks. Death's Touch for extra damage, for instance. I think your dude is too low level to use Soul Siphon twice per day, so you couldn't fire that through a Conductive bow yet, sadly.

Yeah... I just used the zombies last sessions but used the ones on the site. Checking up on it they ARE quite powerful! (Remind me to play a juju oracle next time! :smalltongue:) But I think I'll stay away from them. Burning and bloody skeletons, here I come!

2) I know there is a feat that has the requirement of CON 15 that gives that ability; I cannot remember the name of it though. I think it's Negative Energy Affinity or something like that. I found it! It's Necromatic affinity. Just what I'm looking for. Thanks!

Damn! A spell storing bow would have been perfect! She could shoot her inflict spells at the party... But I guess giving touch attacks a ranged quality so easily is too powerful? What if it costs more to put on a ranged weapon? Would it make it a +2 or is it just too much? Hmmm... Unholy sounds appropriate, but I'd like to have the weapon easily usable by the PCs as well...

BTW, she is 7th level, so she does have soul siphon, and the abundant revelations feat to use it twice. But... I'd like to use it twice, where conductive takes up two charges each time...:smallfrown:

Thanks for the advice!

DM fiat if needed; A ranged spellstoring effect takes up a +2 instead of a +1. Works wonders. :D
