Where does the name of the spell Geas/Quest spell come from? How is it actually pronounced. I know it is incorporated into a title of an Anime but outside of D&D and Code Geass I can't find the source of the word online.

In Irish mythology and folklore, a geis is an idiosyncratic taboo, whether of obligation or prohibition, similar to being under a vow or spell. The Scottish Gaelic spelling "geas" is also common. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geis)
And according to that wikipedia page, the pronunciation is "gesh" (hard 'g', rhymes with "mesh") or something like "gyesh" (voiced palatal stop, which isn't in English, but sounds something like a hard 'g' and a 'y' squished together and said very fast).
