Fiendish resilience allows the warlock to recover hit points by entering a trance for up to two minutes.
It's a free action.
My question is, does it work also when the character is unconscious, or when he hits negative hitpoints?

The warlock cannot enter it while unconscious as although it takes a Free Action to enter, it still takes the conscious decision.

If already in the state of Fiendish Resilience then it will continue for the full duration unless you die, so being knocked unconscious will not stop it working.

Edit: since it is a free action one cane enter the state on someone else's turn. So one can definitely enter it when an opponent swings at you - but it is DM's call whether you can enter it once they successfully hit or you find out how much damage you just took (i.e. as you pass out). Personally I would rule "yes".

that sounds like a definite maybe, lol

except from when he's unconscious, that I sorta figured would be a no go.
