Essentially, in order to keep my job, I have to buy an air filter for my workstation, as my company seems unaware that books produce a lot of dust and thus refuse to do anything to reduce said dust. I just need something that won't cost too much to operate (in terms of replacement filters and such), and is easy to clean (particularly if I go for the electric plate model.) Any suggestions?

You can cut vacuum cleaner filter pads and place them over your fans, or pantyhose works fairly well too.

The biggest thing is you'll need to make sure to chance either out regularly, as too much dust will cause the fans to over-work themselves; they're not too good with dealing with back pressure.
