so looking for a class that works with my doppelgangers natural abilities to shape shift while keeping the ability to use my swords as a samurai

Chameleon? It is the iconic class for a doppelganger. It works out really well if you take the divine focus and use your spells to steal from the paladin list with a spattering of cleric spells to boost your melee ability. Divine power is great.

A warshaper dip isn't a bad idea also. +4 str and con, immunity to crits and sneak attack, fast healing... It works as a nice little boost to a melee fighter.
