I need a name for a martial artist sub-class. The other two sub-classes are Brawler and Ninja. The third class, which I am trying to name, is essentially the opposite of the Brawler. To get an idea of what this class is like, look at Spike (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spike_Spiegel) from Cowboy Bebop. I'd like to avoid an explicitly Asian/eastern name. I'd also like to avoid "_____ fist." This (http://thesaurus.com/browse/fluent) might help.

Been working on this for a couple of weeks, so please help me.

So, a sort of Precisionist? Or a War/Battle Dancer? Or Willow-style Adept?

What about Sophisticate? It gives the feel of a graceful, deliberate fighter while being fairly un-used as far as I've seen.

Acrobat? Skirmisher?

Thanks for the replies everyone.

I'm liking this. Don't know if it's quite there yet.

Duelist? Blademaster? Pugilist?

Duelist is one of the Rogue subclasses. All of the Martial Artists are able to choose a fighting style (striking, grappling, or weapons) and Pugilist and Blademaster both carry their own "weapon" connotations.

A pugilist is a boxer, so it really only implies punching things.
There's also "Prize Fighter," but that doesn't sound like what you want.
Maybe "Walloper?" Or anything from this page (http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxing_styles_and_technique)?

Mechanically spike is just a monk fix or an exact approximation for eclipse phase or shadowrun.
The monk fix in question is a low level full BAB monk before magic, maybe with some luck feats and good wis. He could however be a redesigned rogue-monk hybrid, drawing from pathfinder and using rogue tricks rather than ki (ect).

Brawler is already a well designed class. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?204494-The-Brawler-%283-5-Base-Class-PEACH%29)

Sophisticate sounds like the first recent sherlock holmes movie during the boxing scene.

Sounds like you want an intuition/internal martial artist, drawing from JKD, bagua, aikido and tai chi chuan.

Problem with these sorts of things are that they're usually abstracted into numbers, wisdom and wuxia in dnd, the solution i've found is either stick to fluff and existing concepts or make your own wuxia.
