What is the most expensive magical item in 3.0, 3.5, and Pathfinder edition?

I wanted to build a class feature that could make craft into a main class feature, allowing them to quickly create magical items for a short duration out of nothing, but they are only quasi-real.

Rod of epic might (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/epic/magicItems/rods.htm#epicMight)? 4,293,432 gold per.

Err, there 2 items in the epic SRD that cost more than that - an Everwhirling Chain (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/epic/magicItems/weapons.htm#everwhirlingChain) is the more expensive one.

Would you count weapon enhancements? Because a +20 weapon is 8 million gp.
And above +20 the price is bonus2x20,000gp, so 8,820,000gp for a +21 weapon.

Given the purpose I went with the rod, but what was the other one?

I dont think enhancement bonuses should go above +10. I thought that was a rule. I'm not familiar with much epic rules, since the rules are pretty vague and sometimes broken.

Furthermore, since this is to deal with a non-epic class, i dont think epic items should be included. I shouldv'e established that before hand.

+10, with +20 total of misc modifiers, I'm not sure about +21 or greater. However if it can go on forever, then the most expensive item is a +infinity sword, which costs infinite gp.

Well, no, because infinity is not a number.

Outside of epic there is the greater rod of chaining, which is 243,000 gold. Not sure if that's the most expensive but it'll up there, though that's only in 3.5.

Seems I can't count:

Holy devastator 4,620,315 gp
Unholy despoiler 4,620,315 gp
Bracers of relentless might 4,384,000 gp

if your not going to help him don't post! we don't care how much your compensating for something by finding expensive epic items. he doesn't want epic

to the op. i can't find anything better then the 243k rod of chaining but i thought i would help with this post to the people ignoring you.

Does an airship count? Because the Halruaan Skyship, from Shining South (pp. 56-57), is a Wondrous Item with a cost of 400,000. To my knowledge, that's the most expensive item that doesn't require Epic crafting feats.

"Kanto's Lament" from Arms and Equipment Guide (p. 59) is a special airship, and is listed at 450,000gp.

There's probably something horrendously expensive in the Stronghold Builders' Guide, too, but I don't have access to that at the moment.

Aside from the stronghold itself (which can be as expensive as money as available real estate allows, not to mention the crazy augments, such as 50k per space for a teleporting stronghold), the most expensive items are the platform of telekinesis, greater (100k) and the one-way and two-way portals (100k and 150k respectively).

An elvencraft bow, with both ends of the quarterstaff and also the bow being enhanced to +10, would be 600K and a bit. There's probably some static weapon enhancements you could stick onto there to increase the price even further.

Edit: After a few minutes looking, I've got Blindsighted (+30K), Blurring (+50K), Greater Dispelling (all three, +237K), Doomwarding (all three, +115K), Finder (+5K), Flying (the OA one, all three, +48K).
So that's over a million gp already, and I'm sure there's a number of other properties to add, plus special materials.

Assuming we are not dissembling pre-existing weapons? Spellsword is good.

Without touching the Greater Metamagic rod of Intensify Spell (which i believe is 9m to craft), Elvencraft Dragonbone Bows with all bonuses are probably the most expensive, being the only item pre-epic you can force to 100% wbl thanks to the horrible cost scaling on magic items

How about a cold iron double sword?

Elvencraft bow is definitely more in 3.5 - 600K vs 404K base. In 3.0, I think it was 2x the cost instead of +2K, so that would be an 800K base, and if the flat-cost special abilities are also doubled, it would be more overall. If the flat-cost abilities aren't doubled, it would be very close.

Also, I looked up some more flat cost enhancements, and I think it may be possible to hit 2 million on the elvencraft bow.

How about a cold iron double sword?

you make the quarterstaff ends cold iron on the bow. i think if we go find the Pimp my longbow guides we can probably bump the base price of the bow upto 15000g.

of course, then someone would need to draw the bow.

barring Lesser bane in pathfinder, Fixed cost is way cheaper then cost of weapon.

Looking in the back of the Magic Item Compendium, the most expensive pre-epic item* seems to be the Staff of Power at 211,000. Everything else listed there is 200,000 or below.

*Disregarding cold iron or double weapons
