Factotum with a pet?

I'm planning to play a Factotum and i was wandering, what's the best way to get some sort of animal companion for him?

A monkey or raccoon familiar with a pearl of speech: those little nimble hands can aid you at a number of things, and the pearl can let them UMD. Or a beguiler cohort: cute, intelligent, and has class levels

Feat would be acquire familiar or leadership
