Equipping a Wizard

I like to play wizards, and I'm sure most of you can relate. However, I can never decide on what equipment to buy for them, particularly before level 10. Do you guys have any ideas?

Headband of intellect
Aureon Spellshard
Lotsa bought spells

Spells are expensive if you want a wide selection. Metamagic rods rock.
