So, I need help picking powers and feats. The character is currently level 9, Psion(Shaper) 5/ Anarchic Initiate 4.
The feats I've given him are Psicrystal Affinity, Improved Initiative, Extend Power, Boost Construct, Overchannel, and Leadership.
His race is Synad, just because having three minds sounded awesome, plus Abberation. Oh, and his INT is 22.

What powers and such should I be giving him? And are there any problems with my feats? I've mainly looking to just summon things to stop enemies from getting close to me.

Never played one, so I'm not much help... but I believe since Anarchic Initiate requires Overchannel OR the wild surge class feature, and gives you wild surge at third level if you don't already have it, you can then retrain/Psychic Reformation/DCS Overchannel out for another feat and continue to advance in the class.

EDIT: If you want to put more energy into Astral Construct, it's a very solid power. This thread (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?179726-3-5-Best-Astral-Construct-setup) contains links to handy materials for improving it.

Warforged is actually a better choice of race for a Shaper, since Psionic Repair Damage is so much more efficient than Body Adjustment and can be shared with the psicrystal, and Psionic Minor Creation to cover yourself in Black Lotus Extract (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/specialAbilities.htm#poison) and similar is a bit unfair. A Dragonborn (https://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/iw/20060105b&page=1) Warforged is still a Construct [Living Construct] and keeps all the traits associated with that type and subtype, plus you can still get Warforged-only feats like Adamantine/Mithril Body and Psiforged Body. The Wings aspect of Dragonborn allows you to fly with Adamantine Body since it doesn't encumber you and armor doesn't inhibit the flight gained from the wings aspect.

Every time you gain a level starting at 7th level, you can pick Psychic Reformation (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/psychicReformation.htm) as your new power known and immediately manifest it to repick whatever you want, including swapping out Psychic Reformation for a different power. Since you already have Anarchic Initiate 3+, its own Wild Surge meets its own prerequisite, and you can use Psychic Reformation to swap out Overchannel for a different feat. I'd get Quick Recovery in LoM, so your Psychic Enervation only costs you a move-action when it happens (the DC for Psychic Enervation is 10 + AA level + your Cha mod).

Per the last line of the Wild Surge class feature: "In all cases, the wild surge effectively pays the extra power point cost that is normally required to augment the power; only the unaugmented power point cost is subtracted from the wilder’s power point reserve." Ask your DM if this means that all augmentation costs of a power with Wild Surge are free, i.e. at 9th level, with Wild Surge +1, an Energy Ray for 10d6 costs 1 pp, 'only the unaugmented power point cost' is paid, or if only the Wild Surge portion (1 pp in that example) is free.

Since you have Boost Construct, you should get the Personal Construct ACF (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20070411a) instead of your Psion 5 bonus feat. Being able to manifest a fully augmented Astral Construct as a swift action is better than getting a bonus psionic feat, even if it has to have the same abilities each time you manifest it. Note that per Complete Psionic, you can only have one Astral Construct active at once, unless your group house rules it. Even with this limit, see if using a Dorje of Astral Construct will allow you to make an additional one, and if so get Dorje Mastery so it's augmented. That's actually a spectacular feat to get anyway.

Consider taking two flaws (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20070411a) (more here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?258440-The-quot-Best-quot-Flaws#30)) to get two extra feats. You're missing Psionic Meditation, you really really need to have this feat, and Psicrystal Containment isn't a bad choice either. Some other feats may be worth considering depending on whether magic/psionics transparency allows you to use them with psionic powers as though they were spells, such as Mobile Spell-Casting.

With Personal Construct you should have five feats, or seven with flaws. Note that flaws must be taken when creating a character but not necessarily at 1st level if you're beginning play at a higher level. I'd definitely get Psicrystal Affinity, Extend Power, Boost Construct, and Overchannel Psionic Meditation. If you go Dragonborn Warforged, consider Adamantine Body, Improved Flight, and Flyby Attack. Also consider Craft Dorje and Dorje Mastery, for obvious reason. I'd also recommend Expanded Knowledge for Energy Missile, which can destroy an opponent's spell component pouch, divine focus, weapon, armor, shield, belt (pants fall down around their ankles), etc. all in a single use, despite the slight nerf in Complete Psionic. If you have MoI, Midnight Augmentation and one other feat that gives you a point of essentia (Midnight Dodge to qualify for Psionic Dodge, Soulforged Body (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?39584-Soulforged-Feat-Race), etc.) plus Bestow Power (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/bestowPower.htm) makes it so when you spend five or more power points on Bestow Power you can give yourself back more points than you spent, allowing you to recharge between encounters and after using long duration buffs. Persistent Power from the 3.0 Psionics Handbook is officially still valid for use like all 3.0 material that doesn't appear in a 3.5 book (you can find it here (http://www.wizards.com/d20/files/msrd/ArcanaOccupationsandFeats.rtf)), which later on is amazing with the above Bestow Power recharge trick.

Definitely get Share Pain as a power known. Keep it active on your Psicrystal so you take half damage from all sources. The Psicrystal's Hardness 8 reduces every instance of damage it takes from Share Pain by that much regardless of the original attack's type. Keep the Psicrystal in a compartment on your person so opponents will never have line of sight/effect to it and cannot target it directly or hit it with area effects. Give the Psicrystal a Healing Belt (MIC) and it can use that to heal you during combat when needed. You can share beneficial powers with it such as Vigor and Body Adjustment (or Psionic Repair Damage).

This Psion Handbook (http://www.brilliantgameologists.com/boards/?topic=10238.0) has a good rating system for all the psionic powers, including discipline powers. Any purple-quality discipline powers are even worth taking Expanded Knowledge or doing independent research to gain access to.
