I don't mean useful and full of fluff. I mean useful in a fluffy way. Also disregard price.

The Sextant of the Planes (Planar Handbook), for example, can tell you planar characteristics. This item is pretty useful in a fluffy way. I can imagine wizards would be carrying them around.

Deck of Many Things.

Owning one upholds your chaotic credentials, and you can even threaten to allow people to draw from it.

Nolzur's marvelous pigments. Forget something before you entered the dungeon? Just paint a picture of it, and now you have one!

Unguent of timelessness. 150 gp and preserves organic material for years. I mainly use it on special tasty food.

Phylactery of faithfulness. 1000 gp to ask if an action goes against your alignment whenever you want. The cornerstone of a paladin I had that liked to be on the edge.
