A little ways away from Town, almost in the countryside, there is a small house with a sign out front, declaring it to be "RoseForge." This is the house of Verdandi.
Its humble, but well built. A very large section of it is devoted to Verdandi's forge. As of the moment, there is no sign that the forge is meant to be a shop, or caters to anyone for that matter.

Verdandi enters her new house and goes to the bedroom, placing her belongings inside. She then puts on her apron and goes into the forge and starts working with the few materials she had bought already from the OmniShop.

[AmberVael]

After a while, Verdandi has forged a few more roses and placed them decoratively about the forge. She frowns at her lack of funds and materials, then decides to see what she can do about it. She leaves after washing up a bit.[hr]
Verdandi comes back with haversack full of raw materials, which she then begins to shape into assorted items: weapons, armor, tools, artwork, anything that captures her interest.

[AmberVael]

After almost a day had passed, Verdandi was surrounded by metalwork and the tools of her trade, still not having paused for a break. She looks over at her sword and frowns, deciding it was no longer an accurate representation of her skill. She takes it and melts it down entirely, then begins reworking it from the beginning.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi finishes up her current project on her sword, which is still far past completion, and sets it aside while she goes off to Trog's for a drink.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi comes back in and goes to the living area, leaving the door open behind her.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian enters, and closes the door behind him before he follows Verdandi.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi sits down at a small table. What is on your mind?

[Kyrian]

Lillah and I wondered how you've been. We've been worried.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi looks down at the table and doesn't say anything.

[Kyrian]

I'm sorry...did I say something wrong?

[AmberVael]

I've been fine, Kyrian.

[Kyrian]

I know I'm probably some old broken record to you now with this, but I mean it Verdandi. I'll help you in any way you want.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi nods and continues to stare at her table.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian looks at her and gives a small sigh.

[AmberVael]

Maybe I should get back to my work...

[Kyrian]

If that's what you think...Kyrian sighs again. Verdandi...I'm sorry I'm not able to find the right words. I wish I could.

[AmberVael]

Sometimes there aren't any words to use, Kyrian. Verdandi gets up and walks towards the forge, though her posture indicates that she isn't dismissing Kyrian or ending the conversation.

[Kyrian]

If that's the case, then I'm sorry I seem unable to do the right thing... He follows her, leaning in the doorway to the forge.

[AmberVael]

Numerous roses made of varying metals decorate the forge, ranging from bronze to mithril in value, though all are unique and very finely crafted. Verdandi heads over to a worktable where there is a small sheet of adamantine waiting for her. She picks it up and goes to the forge. Its not your fault, Kyrian. Its Skuld's.

[Kyrian]

Verdandi...please keep calm.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi closes her eyes for a moment and takes a breath, then reopens them and begins heating up her forge.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian looks around at her workmanship. You've done really good with these.

[AmberVael]

Thank you. Verdandi begins to heat up the sheet of adamantine, moving her unfinished sword out of her way, nearby all of her finished tools, armor, and weaponry.

[Kyrian]

So what is it you're making now?

[AmberVael]

I'm going to work on my collection. I don't have an adamantine rose yet. Verdandi pulls back her hair and ties it safely back before returning to her adamantine sheet.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian quiets down and allows her to work. He continues looking at her collection, wondering why roses.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi finally finishes heating the metal and begins drawing it, then punches out a small piece for a petal.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian watches, intrigued.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi begins shaping the petal, repeatedly drawing it into the correct shape. The petal looks far too thin and large to be like any of her other roses though.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian raises an eyebrow at this, but doesn't want to break her concentration.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi shapes the petal in a very detailed manner, though it is still far too large. She then begins to bend the piece and then gently hammer it flat again.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian keeps watching.

[AmberVael]

Slowly Verdandi's movements grow faster, and the petal obviously condenses and shrinks into a petal of the same size as the others, but with most of the detail of the larger piece.

[Kyrian]

It looks lovely, like all the rest.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi concentrates and begins creating more petals, obviously used to this process. How much do you know about smithing?

[Kyrian]

Nothing really.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi gives a small sigh and shakes her head. Yet you use weaponry all the time. Knowing what is in your hand is a helpful thing, Kyrian.

[Kyrian]

Maybe you could teach me?

[AmberVael]

Probably. I'm not a very good teacher though... it'd probably take longer than if you learned it from someone else. Verdandi is already working on a third petal.

[Kyrian]

That's ok, I've heard I'm not a very good student. Kyrian is hoping for a good reaction as he says this in a joking manner.

[AmberVael]

Well then, I'll start us out with the hammers on the far wall. I don't like them as much, so when we throw them at each other and they end up breaking I won't mind. Verdandi finishes a fourth petal then begins making the stem quickly while the petals are still hot and malleable.

[Kyrian]

Sounds logical. Kyrian smiles.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi finishes the stem and keeps it heated while reheating the petals and starting on a fifth. Go and choose a hammer that fits your hand well enough, and if you feel inclined you can magic it to a more comfortable shape.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian looks through the hammers and chooses one.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi heats up the forge even more, then begins to draw and upset the pieces and weld them together, squinting through the intense heat as she does.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian holds the hammer, showing just how little he knows.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi forms a few more smaller petals for the center, and welds it all together. She lets it cool for a few moments on its own, then quenches it in oil while the forge dies back down to normal heat.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian....stands there.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi sets the rose aside and picks up a small bar of copper and beckons Kyrian over to the forge and anvil.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian steps over to the forge and anvil.

[AmberVael]

I don't think I'll actually teach you how to make anything just yet, I'll just show you the techniques. Verdandi puts the bar into the furnace and watches it heat. Or would you rather learn the techniques by making something?

[Kyrian]

Technique alone will be fine.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi nods and draws the bar back out from the forge. Probably the simplest of techniques is drawing. With it you flatten and expand the metal. There are a few ways you can do this.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian nods his understanding.

[AmberVael]

The first way- Verdandi places the bar on the anvil horn, handling the very hot metal with her bare hand without so much as blinking, is to simply place it here and shape it like this. She demonstrates how and where to hit it.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian continues to nod.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi motions for Kyrian to come up to the anvil and attempt it.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian's first swing brings the copper up off the anvil. Without thinking Kyrian catches it in his hand.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi doesn't react to this at all, too used to everyone she trained in smithing with being, at the least, resistant to fire. Not to mention resistant to smashing their fingers with hammers.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian sets the copper back down and tries again, doing a better job this time.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi watches him, taking mental notes.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian keeps going, getting better each time.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi gives his work a critical look as he keeps going.
You're doing well, but I think you don't have quite the right precision and understanding of the technique. Here.
Verdandi stands right behind him and puts a hand on top of his.
Its a little less of this-
She guides his hand through one motion.
And more of this-
She demonstrates another, again using his hand.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian tries again, just like Verdandi just showed him.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi nods and steps back. Thats better.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian nods as he continues the work.

[AmberVael]

The metal is very thin and wide by now.
I'd probably better teach you a little upsetting so you can make this a manageable piece.

[Kyrian]

Upsetting? Ok.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi takes the metal from him and waits for it to cool. Upsetting is a process that will do something akin to making the head of a nail to a nail without a head. You basically compress the metal onto itself.

[Kyrian]

Ah....ok. Kyrian nods, thinking he understands.

[AmberVael]

The metal mostly cools, and Verdandi heats one end of it only, then withdraws it and places the heated end face down on the anvil and strikes the opposite end of the metal where it is still cold.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian watches, making mental note of what she's doing so that he can try to do a good job on the first try.

[AmberVael]

The metal, as she said, compresses back on itself and shortens the metal while flattening out the heated tip. Verdandi holds it how it is and waits for Kyrian to take it.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian takes it from her. He looks a little confused, but begins doing what she had done.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi watches him again, once more taking notes.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian does a pretty nice job, though Verdandi's is obviously better.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi nods. Good.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian gives her a small smile.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi takes the metal back and tosses it into the forge again. Thats probably enough for a single lesson that you weren't expecting.

[Kyrian]

So should I expect the second or just let it come whenever?

[AmberVael]

You can come for it as you wish. Nothing else is occupying my time. Verdandi glances at her unfinished sword.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian tilts his head, trying to get her attention.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi looks back at Kyrian, then moves over to her forge again.

[Kyrian]

Thank you for the lesson.

[AmberVael]

It was no trouble, Kyrian. Verdandi looks down at the copper and begins shaping something out of it.

[Kyrian]

Well, hopefully the next one can be soon. Take care. Kyrian heads for the door.

Verdandi nods to him and keeps working.

There is a knock on the door. A rather upset Phoenixineohp is on the other side.

Verdandi barely hears Phoenixineohp from the other side, but goes and opens the door. Hello? Its quite obvious Verdandi has been working hard at her forge.

[phoenixineohp]

Phoenixineohp was looking down at her feet but now her eyes are darting up to Vera, around her body and then behind her.

"Umm.. Hi. How are you?" She crosses one of her arms, a obviously uncomfortable.

[AmberVael]

I'm keeping myself busy. I'm sorry, but do I know you? Verdandi frowns, obviously confused.

[phoenixineohp]

Phoenixineohp takes a bit of a breath.
"I'm sorry. My name is Phoenixineohp. I've seen you around with your partners and I know Aesa a bit."

She thinks for a moment.
"I think we may have exchanged pleasantries once or twice."

She smiles kindly, but still appears nervous.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi tenses, and tears faintly form in her eyes.
Oh... I see. Would you like to come in?
She moves out of the way of the door.

[phoenixineohp]

"Umm, no.. it's okay. Are... are you okay?"

[AmberVael]

Verdandi looks to one side.
I... no...
Tears glimmer more obviously as she turns back to Pxp.
Is there something you wanted?

[phoenixineohp]

She pauses and starts to frown. She looks at Vera and swallows, her concern starting to take over her nerves.
"I've been looking for someone who I can't seem to find... I'm guessing that may be connected to what's wrong."

[AmberVael]

Tears begin to fall from Vera's eyes, and she shakes her head.
If you're looking for... Iames and Aerin... you're not going to find them here...

[phoenixineohp]

"I was looking for Iames since... I have a few questions for him. But I couldn't even feel his presence in the town. Oh Vera..."
She looks very sad and lets down her arm.

"Do you know where they are? What happened? Pardon me asking... I just..." She tries to finish her sentence but can't.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi shakes her head, but when she focuses her eyes on Pxp she is still crying, but her eyes are furious and hard. My mother did this. And she will pay.

[phoenixineohp]

Phoenixineohp seems to nod in understanding.
"What happened? Did she take them? Can you feel them at all?"

[AmberVael]

She... she... Verdandi gives up on the first question and nods to the last one, crying.

[phoenixineohp]

Phoenixineohp looks around.
"I... I... If you want a hug..." She spreads her arms a little, showing that she is offering one.
"I'm so sorry." She shakes her head, obviously upset at the news... which is slightly ironic.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi clearly hesitates, then hugs Pxp and sobs.

[phoenixineohp]

Phoenixineohp gently holds her, letting her guide the motion. A warmth seems to come from her which feels almost calming and loving.

[AmberVael]

I miss them so much... Verdnadi squeezes her eyes shut.

[phoenixineohp]

Phoenixineohp nods slightly.
"How can you feel them? What do you feel?"

[AmberVael]

Iames still contacts me... its very faint- he can't even communicate words, and I can't... I can't even... Verdandi stifles a sob.

[phoenixineohp]

Phoenixineohp continues to gently hold her and the calming warmth keeps coming from her.
"Okay... I need to know if they are in a different location or if they are... let's say they are in something... like a binding spell. If they are in a different location, I might be able to help."

[AmberVael]

I don't know. It could be one, it could be both.

[phoenixineohp]

Phoenixineohp nods.
"Okay. Let's go inside and I'll try and track them, see what I can find. How does that sound?"

[AmberVael]

Verdandi nods, but doesn't pull away.

[phoenixineohp]

Phoeixineohp looks around into the house and sees a couch. She teleports them next to it and the door closes.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi lets go of Pxp and collapses on the couch.

[phoenixineohp]

Phoenixineohp sits next to her and gently and slowly reaches out a hand to place on her.
"I need to make a connection with you. Either your chest by your neck or the middle of your back works well. The forehead can work too, though it's a bit weaker."

[AmberVael]

Verdandi slowly nods, brushing away some of her tears.

[phoenixineohp]

Phoenixineohp tilts her head and retracts her arm. She corrects how she is sitting by turning to face Vera.
"So, front or back?" She smiles a bit.

[AmberVael]

I don't care... Verdandi doesn't move off fo the couch, but ruffles her wings a little.

[phoenixineohp]

"Okay."
Phoenixineohp gently and slowly reaches forward and places her arm under her wing, resting her hand in the top center of Vera's back. She then slowly and gently reaches with her left hand and places it high on her sternum, by her collar bones in the center of her chest.

"Now just try to contact him or think about the last time he contacted you. And just focus on that."

[AmberVael]

Verdandi takes a deep, shuddering breath before closing her eyes and trying to reach out to Iames, whispering his name just in case...

[phoenixineohp]

Phoenixineohp closes her eyes, bowing her head. Her hands heat up slightly as gently presses on Vera.

[AmberVael]

A small smile appears on Vera's face as she does make contact with Iames.

[phoenixineohp]

Phoenixineohp looks like she is going into REM. She grits her teeth slightly when she feels the connection for focuses on what she is doing. Her hands heat up more as the time goes on.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi gets slightly uncomfortable with the heat, but doesn't move.

[phoenixineohp]

A few minutes pass before Phoenixineohp's eyes pop open. She slowly removes her hands and shakes them out.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi is crying softly, a small smile on her face.

[phoenixineohp]

Phoenixineohp turns back to sit on the couch, leaning against it's back. She closes her eyes and in a moment goes a little limp.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi hugs herself, unaware of anything around her.

[phoenixineohp]

A great deal of time passes before Phoenixineohp opens her eyes. She sits up and looks over at Vera.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi smiling and crying all at once, happy and depressed.

[phoenixineohp]

Phoenixineohp smiles at her.
"I think I may be on to something, but I will need more time. As for now I think I should go."

[AmberVael]

Verdandi looks down and nods.
Okay then... thank you.

[phoenixineohp]

She smiles gently at Vera.
"Take care."

She vanishes.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi has gone back into her forge, and she continues working on her new sword. After a time she finishes creating the bar that she wishes to make it out of. The metal bar is strangely colored, a shining, very light greenish silver. Those who knew about the different metals involved would say that such a metal is impossible to make, but Verdandi is obviously proving them wrong.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi finally puts aside her nearly finished sword, wondering how much longer it will take.
Give it a day or so...
She wipes her brow and collapses in a chair.

[Kyrian]

There is a knock on the door.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi closes her eyes and heaves a sigh before getting back to her feet and going to the door. She opens it, looking terrible from her three days of constant work. Hello?

[Kyrian]

Kyrian gives her a small smile from the other side. Hello.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi returns the smile and steps back from the door to allow him to come inside.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian enters. So I was hoping you could maybe teach me some more?

[AmberVael]

I guess I could. Verdandi gives a small sigh.

[Kyrian]

What's wrong Verdandi?

[AmberVael]

Its just... Verdandi shakes her head and goes towards the forge.

[Kyrian]

Just what? Kyrian follows her, raising an eyebrow.

[AmberVael]

Nothing. Verdandi stops in the doorway of the forge.

[Kyrian]

Sorry... Kyrian watches her.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi shakes her wings a little and walks into the forge.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian keeps a concerned eye on her and follows.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi goes over to the forge and puts her hand on her nearly finished sword. She looks down at it and stifles a sob.

[Kyrian]

Verdandi? Kyrian walks over and starts to touch her hand, but drops his short so that it rests near hers.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi gives a sob. I'm fine- I'm fine...

[Kyrian]

Kyrian looks at her in concern. I can't make you tell me what's going on. And I won't. But you know I'm here. I'll listen if you talk, and I'll be here, if I'm needed.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi puts her arms around herself and nods, crying silently.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian stands there, not knowing if he should even touch her shoulder. I could come another time if you want Verdandi...

[AmberVael]

Verdandi shakes her head. No, its okay, just give me... give me a moment...

[Kyrian]

I can do that... Kyrian nods.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi moves a little and sits down on a stool, wiping at her tears even as she cries more.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian pulls a handkerchief out of his coat and offers it.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi sniffs and takes it from him with a small smile.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian kneels down beside her and smiles up at her.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi wipes at her eyes, taking off a great deal of soot and sweat along with her tears.

[Kyrian]

I'm here for you. I know that I seriously have to be a broken record by now when I say that... Kyrian still smiles.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi smiles and nods, sobbing at the same time.

[Kyrian]

I was thinking...maybe I should just bring you a broken record player, you know, put it over there. That way I could stop saying it, and just let the record say it for me?

[AmberVael]

Verdandi laughs a little inbetween her tears.

[Kyrian]

There we go... Kyrian pulls a small record player out and grins.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi smiles and her tears slow as she dabs them away.

[Kyrian]

Now don't make me turn this on...I know how to use it...I think. Kyrian gives a small laugh.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi hands him back his very stained handerkerchief, smiling very slightly.

[Kyrian]

You can keep it if you'd rather? Kyrian puts the record player away.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi puts it on her worktable next to her nearly finished sword.

[Kyrian]

So, what shall I be learning tonight?

[AmberVael]

Maybe I shouldn't try to right now... Verdandi looks down at herself.

[Kyrian]

Yea...wouldn't want you teaching me how to hurt myself, I'm pretty good at doing that myself. Kyrian smiles. Can I get you anything?

[AmberVael]

Verdandi shakes her head.

[Kyrian]

Well, I think I'm going to get a drink from Trog's. Are you going to be ok?

[AmberVael]

Verdandi shivers. I don't know.

[Kyrian]

I could stay here if you'd rather?

[AmberVael]

Verdandi hesitates and then gives a small nod.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian gives her a small smile. So what did you have in mind tonight then?

[AmberVael]

I... I don't know. I've been working on my sword, but...

[Kyrian]

Kyrian looks at her. but?

[AmberVael]

I think I need to take a break. Its been a few days since I started...

[Kyrian]

So what would you like to do?

[AmberVael]

I... I guess... what would Aerin- no... no can't think of her- not now- I don't know...

[Kyrian]

Kyrian just watches her. Hey, we'll think of something.

[AmberVael]

I probably need to bathe before I do anything... I look terrible.

[Kyrian]

You still look beautiful... Kyrian looks at his feet. If you feel the need to bathe, I'm not going to stop you of course. I'll just wait here, unless you want me to go now.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi blushes a little. No, no, its fine. Make yourself at home. She goes straight from the forge to the bathroom.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian goes out to the living room and sits down on a couch as he waits.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi eventually comes out into the living room, her hair wet but clean. She is wearing a soft white tunic with black stitching and patters on it, along with black pants.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian gives her a small smile. Feel better?

[AmberVael]

I feel clean at least. Verdandi brushes back her hair with her hands, but as normal misses a lock of it.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian smiles. You missed one.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi sighs and leaves it how it is. Its not like I can fix it. She ties her hair back in a pony tail and sits down in one of the chairs, sighing in relief.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian looks around, awkwardly.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi notices his discomfort. Oh! I'm sorry- I just wasn't thinking- we were going to.. um... what was it we were going to do? She asks sheepishly.

[Kyrian]

I don't know...

[AmberVael]

Oh... I'm sorry... I'm not a very good hostess.. if you want to go somewhere else I'll understand. Verdandi looks down at her feet.

[Kyrian]

It's not that Verdandi.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi looks up, confused.

[Kyrian]

I don't know...Kyrian sighs.

[AmberVael]

Okay... well was there something you wanted to do? Verdandi asks timidly and shyly, obviously embarressed to have to ask this.

[Kyrian]

Just wanted to see how you were doing.

[AmberVael]

I'm... okay. Verdandi puts her arms around herself.

[Kyrian]

What's wrong?

[AmberVael]

Just the same. Verdandi looks like she is about to cry again.

[Kyrian]

Please don't cry... Kyrian sits back down on the couch.

[AmberVael]

I can't help it... its just... Verdandi shudders a little.

[Kyrian]

Verdandi...I may not know how it feels, I only know that I can be here for you when you need me.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi huddles on the chair, suppressing her tears.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian slides across the couch so he's closer to the chair Verdandi's in. Vera...

[AmberVael]

She twitches her wing out of her line of view so she can peer over her knees at him.

[Kyrian]

You'll get through this.

[AmberVael]

Even if I do, it doesn't help the pain I have now.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian sighs. I don't know what to say for that...

[AmberVael]

Verdandi remains as she is, sad, uncertain, and feeling very, very alone.

[Kyrian]

Is there anything I can do to help Verdandi? I hate seeing you like this...

[AmberVael]

I... I don't know. Verdandi looks at him with very sad eyes.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian puts his arms on the arm of the couch and lays his head on his hands. He gives her a small smile. Do I need to start up the broken record?

[AmberVael]

Verdandi gives a small smile, but she still looks close to tears.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian sits up, and leans out to lightly touch her arm, trying to comfort her.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi shivers a little and looks at him, giving a very small smile.

[Kyrian]

It's going to be ok...

[AmberVael]

I hope so. Verdandi uncurls slightly.

[Kyrian]

You will, I know it.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi smiles a little again, holding her wings close to herself.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian sits up. See, now we just need to install that broken record somewhere in here...

[AmberVael]

Verdandi's smile falters a little. I don't think its quite the same.

[Kyrian]

Oh, well, then...hmm...

[AmberVael]

Verdandi sighs and looks down, her wings drooping.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian looks at her. What?

[AmberVael]

I just wish they were back...

[Kyrian]

I know...I know...

[AmberVael]

Verdandi's eyes glimmer with tears and she looks up at Kyrian pleadingly.

[Kyrian]

Kyrian looks confused. What?

[AmberVael]
