Quoting in a Sig

As you can see from my signature, I have a comment that I would like to quote. The trouble is that I can't figure out how to do so. I tried copying the quote I get when I quote in a post directly into my sig, and that didn't work. Then, as is evident, I attempted to just put quote tags around it. Even that didn't work. What am I doing wrong?

Copying the quote block from a reply window and pasting it into your Edit Signature box should work. It's how I got the quote currently in my sig there. What happened when you tried that?
