It seems that in OOTS, there is visual changes when a barbarian rage.

And I don't recall any comic where we could have seen Belkar raging.

Did I miss something ?

Those are nods to the Incredible Hulk.

Belkar says "Halfling rage jump attack" here:

which may mean he's raging in order to boost the height of his jump.

Ooh, I always thought he said 'ranger'.

Belkar also uses (or attempts to use) a "Halfling rage att-" against Malack here (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0869.html).

Oh !

I didn't know...

So the color changing is more a Thog-thing than a Rage-thing

Pretty much.

Yeah, I think Thog is the only Barbarian we see raging like that.

It seems that way. Of course, it's also a very short list of barbarians that we've seen in combat. The only other one I know is Kraagor, and that's one panel in a Start of Darkness flashback. Even then, he looks the same as his regular appearance -- no Hulk-mode color scheme here.

Kraagor was who I was thinking of. It would be nice if we had more data points, though.

Actually, we have several data points from Belkar. But, I need more!

how thog's pants turn purple?

The first couple times I read strip 387, I didn't get the joke that I just quoted. The third time .... :head-slap:!

It's not that Thog's pants change colors, it's that Thog is wearing purple pants (or loincloths) under his outer wear. That way when he "goes green" he can quick change into a more stylish ensemble.

I am quite sure that in his "SEXY SHOELESS GOD OF WAR" Strip, he is raging. Just the look on his face and the fact that he gets hit often (lower AC from raging) are huge points to it
Sorry, I am not sure how to make links with this forum...
Edit: found some way

Despite the "halfing rage jump attack"-like clues, in my opinion Belkar is still never gone in barbarian rage. It could actually be, since it would fit his character to use it just to achieve the bonuses it grants whenever he wants them. But that would not fit his grandeur, nor the Giant's one. I have the personal and so subjective feeling that he will rage just once and probably right before his own death, but in some marvellous and (his sub)plot relevant way.

Speaking of Belkar's "Sexy Shoeless God of War" moment, why does he not get XP for the goblins? Too many people involved in the army?

I think the CR of the goblins is too low for him to get XP from defeating them.

The ironic thing is that Durkon has (if he wants them) better Rages. And more of them per day. And this would be the case even in comparison to a same-level Barbarian. The only disadvantage is that it takes him two standard actions (or some clerical metamagic) to enter a Rage.

(If I ever want to play another 3.xE barbarian, the class will probably be Cleric. Yeah, I can refluff that easily enough as, oh, calling on the spirits of my ancestors to strengthen and heal me. Occasionally I might even ask them to come to the aid of my wounded allies.)

Hey now, that sort of tier nonsense about how CoDzilla totally whips (or rather hammers) same level barbarians and fighters belongs in some powergaming D&D thread :smalltongue:

You do realize that my post was a direct quote from strip 387, don't you?
