Its what it says on the tin. I'm looking for a homebrew that gives me the chance to play as a sworldwielding beast without being left behind by, say, my buddie's druid or breaking the entire game.

Any suggestions?

Try this. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?356108-Momentum-A-martial-class-project-(WIP-PEACH)) It can only actually be played for a few levels at the moment, but by the time you get to high levels there may be enough stuff for it.

Hmm... that looks really interesting actually. I've also been looking around and two other classes came to me: the Bellator, from the mythic Xefas, and the the War-Marked, by I dont know who.

Ziegander's got something like a dozen different fighter fixes, many of them quite good. Worth a look (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?60676-The-Homebrewer-s-Extended-Signature/page4&p=11599640#post11599640). Jiriku's got a pretty big, fancy fix (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?194834-3-5-Fighter-Remix-Doin-it-old-school)himself. A whole crapload collected here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?236469-Commonly-Corrected-Classes-Compendium). And I'll put forth my own fix (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?276280-GitP-Fighter-Fix-18343-3-Ziegander-Grod-Tag-Team-Action!) as well.

Pretty much inevitable. (And besides, my 'brew is clearly the best solution)

Best I've seen is Warrior's Way (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?192596-The-Warrior-s-Way-Rebalancing-Blade-and-Bow).

My self-promotion is so shameless I'll even point out that other self-promoters promote me. Because I'm meta like that. :smallcool:

Is there a particular type of fighter you want to play or do you know anything about the campaign you'll play in? Because there are so many different fighter fixes on this board, we can even offer customized suggestions for your game and playstyle (naturally you will love mine the best though).

Warblade is the best replacement for a fighter.
I second this for the simple reason that it is the official "fix", that is accepted at most gaming tables (and those that don't accept ToB are not likely to accept homebrew either). Learning ToB also opens the door to the monk fix (swordsage) and the paladin fix (Crusader).

Unless of course, you are already familiar with the Warblade and want something else, in which case the others above (and maybe below) me have plenty of suggestions.

...

What? Were you expecting shameless self-promotion in this post too? :smalltongue:

For what it's worth, Realm of Chaos' spin on the fighter (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?140278-My-Spin-on-the-Fighter-%28warning-quite-long%29) was the most fun I had playing with fighter fixes. It does require you keep track of your mastery points which fluctuate pretty wildly. But once you get the hang of it, it's a lot of fun with a lot of options. Though I would bump up their skill points per level, but that's just me.

Competing with a druid is pretty much impossible without becoming a T1 caster yourself. You could find some homebrew, but if it's going to have "I swear it's not magic! I do it with my sword!" as flavor, you might as well make a gish. For example, Swiftblade (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/prc/20070327) is a very good gish class.

Not really, your one brew is more caster then munflop

but ya, The easiest and most official fix is take the warblade, delete the fighter.

In fact, retroactively. With a moon.

delete the fighter.

Well, why don't you just Iron Heart Surge the fighter?

Well, why don't you just Iron Heart Surge the fighter?

because Iron Heart Surge doesnt take several inevitable minutes during which the moon is crashing

It's our pleasure! If you have any questions about it, feel free to message me or post on the fighter thread. I do try to be semi-prompt with responses.

AWW.. I never saw this thread until now :(

I would have also recommend Jiriku's fighter as it fully captures what I have always felt the fighter is a base line of abilities and then you get to pick exactly how you want to customize you guy ( ya know commandin fighting style/watchful fighting style)

only thing his is missing is an archery focus style

but yeah Grod basically hit the nail on the hea dand mine would have been a literal word for word os what he did with a little summary of the class as how I saw them LOL
