If the AH ( Arcane hierophant had a Ape companion and he was able to make his own armor could it be possible to give the ape leather armor,
The Ape would have a INT of 9 and have 9 HD if I had to I could buy the light armor feat.

Also would that be the case for a straight up Druid animal companion with leather armor or studded leather armor?

Sure, all kinds of monsters and animals can wear armor (or barding), magic items and purpose built weapons... although they might need help putting them on.

And if it's just leather or masterwork studded, you don't even need a feat for it. The only drawback to wearing armor you're not proficient in is that you take its ACP as a penalty to a bunch of different rolls... But leather and masterwork studded both have an ACP of 0.

... YOU'RE A DRUID! Cast Luminous Armor. Problem solved.

Chronos is right about ACP, though.
