As the title suggests, I'd like to know if there's a way to steal an EX ability from a creature without 5 levels of Illithid Savant.

Manifest the Fusion power with your target, then kill yourself while fused and rebuild your body via Astral Seed. You'll rebuild the fused body, except without the Fusion power in effect, so there's no risk of it ending and separating you.

You can temporarily steal Ex abilities, among other things, by Shapechanging (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/shapechange.htm) (or using a Polymorph-based spell with Assume Supernatural Ability) into a Greater Doppelganger, Ethereal Doppelganger, or Mindstealer (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/mm/20030727a).

Manipulate Form on yourself to gain the Illithid Savant's ability.

True Mind Switch (or the Psionic Sandwich trick) will work as well, provided you yourself have no useful Ex abilities you'd like to keep.
