so i'm currently playing a
NG conjuror2/masterspecialist4/malconvoker3/metaphysicalspellsher3/darkscholar3/thaumaturgist5//paragon human3/arcivist17
I get my planar cohort this level, I'm at a loss as to what to get for a planar cohort

and also where to take my character next

(gestalt rules, dragon mag, and 3rd party allowed as long as I own a copy, and its easier to ask what I don't own)

looking for some ideas, thanks in advance

If you want to keep using summons you're gonna have to take Cosmic Descryer to keep them relevant. You'll lose CL on that side so the other should probably be something with full casting progression. A dip into Contemplative for the Magic domain gets you into Dweomerkeeper, which is probably the best deal you'll get.

For the cohort a Planetar is pretty solid. Good melee, tough, full cleric casting, what more do you want?

At 40th level you kind of run low on options. Where it 20, would say Solars are they are pretty awesome but by 40th level not so much. Phanes are also pretty fun as well. Mostly by that point I think your binds will have to take class levels, be unique binds, or use some book I'm not aware of because most Outsiders plateau in the mid twenties/early thirties.

Contemplative sounds like a good dip on the archivist side of things, maybe sacred exorcist too
the only thing I don't like about cosmic descrier is the loss of casting levels

Once you've got 20/20 casting progression you can afford to lose caster levels a bit more, IIRC, especially as the higher level you get, the more ways you have to make up for it there are.

You only need one more level for the Archivist side to have full 20/20 casting progression if I recall my human paragon correctly, and you're only 2 or 3 from 20/20 on the wizard side, from what I can recall, though I'm not familiar with a couple of those Prestige Classes you're rocking.

More CL is still good, of course, but you can afford to lose a couple here and there every now and then, I think. But I'm not the strongest when it comes to remembering the Epic Rules.

20wiz/17arc but I have a CL of 41 in conjurations
Theurgic Specialist is kinda a broken feat in gestault

dark scholar http://dndtools.eu/classes/dark-scholar/

and metaphysical spellshaper is the 3 level incantrix from book of erotic fantasy

im assuming those 2 are the prcs your not familiar with Coidzor

Yeah, though apparently Malconvoker needs to be added to the list because I'd have sworn it sacrificed a level of casting at Malconvoker 1. :smallconfused:

The problem with summons in epic is that you need Cosmic Descryer or you don't need to bother using it at all in a few levels. Since your build is heavily focused on it that doesn't seem like something you want.
If you want to keep your CL up Hathran is a pretty good class for the other side. That it also offers free maximize, empower and a massive DC boost via free heighten to 20th is a nice bonus.

it does cost a level of casting, but the human paragon adds 2 level of casting, the way I spaced it out, I didn't loose any wizard casting

and the more I look at cosmic descryer the more I think that be the way to go in the future
