View Full Version : Practical optimization of high CR monsters

Hi Playground,
I'm DMing a gestalt game which has gone into the high levels (~16 when all is said and done). The players optimize slightly below the fringe of PO (no loops, no chaos shuffle, just very very large numbers). They're to the point where even if I take aspects of deities and optimize their feats/equipment, the aspects will get trashed. The climax of the campaign involves a trek into the Abyss, to take out a particular target associated with Graz'zt (which I have already designed). But they should be dealing with lots of things on the way, some associated with demons, and some not, since there are a lot of interested parties.

I'm not sure what to do, other than jack up the hit dice of everything. Again, they're not at the "fully fledged Emerald Legion" point... but what interesting stuff might the playground be able to cook up?
