Hi,

I'm a new player and I would like your opinion on the following things I try to do (playing edition 3.5)

1) My character is glass blower (background) and I would like to make a window that allow the person in the castle to see through spells like Obscuring Mist that could be in effect from the other side of the window, outside the castle. A maximum lenght of 20 ft is enough.

The Blinsight ability (http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Blindsight) seems to help to see though Obscuring Mist but it seems hard to grant it to glass. Maybe the part 'sensitivity to vibration' could be useful...

There are some magic items like Cloud Cloak (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/fw/20050311a) that just allows the user to have this capacity. I wonder if there a way to give this magic ability to the glass when I craft it. I use a forge and craft glass blower skill.

2) I would like to increase the hardness of the glass. I'll follow to real life process to obtain armoured glass but I would like to know if there are already ways to increase the hardness of materials in the game. The only thing I found is Hardening (http://dndtools.eu/spells/deities-and-demigods--39/hardening--992/) but the level required is too high.

Thanks a lot in advance for your time and suggestions.

Aside from Dwarvencraft which is basically paying a bit more and taking a bit more time ala Masterwork, and the Hardening spell, there's not that many options for increases the hardness of an object you make. There's probably some Tippyverse solution, but that might be more just making it out of Ice Assassin Psions.

Really though it sounds like you want homebrew OK'd by your DM to allow for reinforced glass to be created and have stats.

There might be some options for your window idea in the Stronghold Builder's Guide, since that does touch upon magical architecture.

If you are an artificer or have access to solid magic...

I recommend using stone windows (there are a number of ways to do this, from using the Stone Trap spell, to Sequester, to making existing stone invisible via invisibility sphere or that spell I forget specifically able to make invisible stone "windows"). Then you can use Hardening, Earthfast, (Greater) Arcane (Lock/Seal), (Greater) Sign of Sealing, etc.
