<Insert Name Here>
Prerequisites: Ability to prepare 3rd level arcane spells, Spell Mastery with the chosen spell.
Benefit: Choose a spell that you know that is at most one level lower than the highest spell that you can cast. You may lose a spell of the same level to spontaneously cast this spell. You may not add and metamagic feats that alter the level of the spell to this spell when cast spontaneously.

What do you all think?

You may just want to keep the name simple, like 'Spontaneous Spell'.

Or go more obscure, 'Autoschediastic Spell'.

Yes, I have a stupidily large vocabulary some days. Can't spell, but I know the words! :smallcool:

Isn't that just the "Signature Spell" feat?

Depends on how you want to handle it:
Ridiculous: Mastery of Spell Mastery

Scientific: Arcane Singularity

Referential: Secret of Mana

Cosmic: Starscribed Magic

Underhanded: Trick Casting

Skillful: Magical Uniformity

I'm with "Spontaneous Spell," it seems good. However, should this not be in Homebrew?

"Ninja Spell" because it comes out of nowhere! Okay, or seriously, how about something lame like "Arcane Specialization"?

Sudden Inspiration. See, 'cause you suddenly have the spell? Like you were inspired to cast it?

I'll shut up now.

Probably should go in homebrew, I must have clicked on the wrong section.

Don't name it that because then the only spell I'll be able to put in it is Disintegrate.

I'm always wishing I had more of those prepared...

's OK. At another forum, the rule about posting something in the wrong place is that the offender must get smacked with a trout.

Actually, I instituted that rule.

On topic: I also wanted to say that I like the idea of the feat.

Innate Spell?

As Jacob said, this feat already has a name. It's Signature Spell, in Player's Guide to Faerun. No need for a new one.

Yeah, and Signiture Spell is actually superior. It requires Spell Mastery, and allows you to spontanously cast the spell as a Cleric spontanously Cures. No level drop, no metamagic restrictions. Works great with Arcane Thesis and Shadow magic builds.

Though I would argue that if spontanous casting is that important to you, you should just play a Sorcerer rather then wasting feats.

There does also exist a feat that burns one spell slot, but converts the spell into a spell-like ability. I forgot its name, but it was quite nifty.

As to this feat, it's a shame; this feat has another limitation that the other has, and might then be a Lesser Signature Spell.

I'd call it "Interesting idea, but No."

The Hierophant has something like that. They call it "Spell-Like Ability."

What about "Arcane Spontanety"?
