Duskblade's Arcane Channeling and Energy Substitution

Can I channel an energy substituted spell? Like if I took energy substitution (cold) could I use arcane channeling to channel a cold version of shocking grasp?

Yes, but you need Rapid Metamagic, because Arcane Channeling requires its spell to be a standard action and duskblades are spontaneous casters.

Okay. What if I take arcane preparation and prep all my cold shocking grasp spells? I can channel my cold shocking grasps now as they're standard actions now right?

Sure. Other than the standard action clause, Arcane Channeling isn't picky when it comes to spells. You can even use spells you got from another class.

Since it's costing you a feat either way, why not just take rapid metamagic? Same outcome, but you don't need to prepare them for it to work, you can just do it on the fly. Of course, you need to be level 9 for rapid metamagic
