As you awake to the dawn of a new day, realisation hits you. This is it, the time has come for the Reaping of the 73rd Hunger Games. This has always been an unforgettable day throughout your life. For some reason, today has you feeling particularly nervous, dread filling your stomach.

You rise and dress smartly, wearing the best clothes you have. As you leave your house, you join the growing throng of people filing towards the reaping itself. Peacekeepers line the way, their immaculate white uniforms and faceless helmets keeping you from recognising any of them. Their presence presses in on you, reminding you of the harsh reality. Two children are going to their deaths. Not today, but because of the events set in motion on this day. The thought hangs over everyone like a smothering fog.

Just like all the other children in the district, you line up with those of the same age as you. Girls on one side, boys on the other. Your blood is taken by a peacekeeper at a desk, checking you in. The older children put on a brave face for the benefit of those that are younger, but everyone is afraid.

Standing on the stage, stationed between two bowls filled with names, is a very formally dressed woman, her hair tied back in a sharp bun. Her appearance almost reminds you of a school teacher. She looks out on the gathered children with a disapproving gaze...

Please post your character's general appearance and his/her mannerisms as the reaping takes place. How it goes down is completely up to you.

The sun's so damn bright.

Really feels like it shouldn't be, not a cloud in the sky and not a man or woman willing to appreciate it.
Well, thought Chester as the sun warm his upturned face, maybe one man. The matron who presides over these damn things is narking on about duty and expectation, **** her, just going to stand here and enjoy the sun.
The crowd goes silent as the matron pulls a name out of that bloody stupid bowl and calls a name. Don't care, just enjoying the sun, too nice to waste looking at some poor lass being dragged out to die.

She eeks it out, sobs a few times as she's escorted up, you can hear her feet dragging. She's standing there now, the sobbing is quiet as all hell but it's there.

All the ambient dies down again, matron must be picking the lad, you can hear the rustle of the paper and the clink of her ring against the side of the bowl. The lass is sobbing all the while, very quietly now.

"Chester Grinne!"

The suns so damn bright today.

The stern capital woman scans the assembled boys, searching for you in the crowd. You see that the display screens either side of her are also showing the group. You become aware of those standing near to you shuffling away from you slightly, and the camera picks up on this movement, homing in on where you're standing.

"Chester Grinne, come on up to the stage please."

The woman's tone is clipped, sounding less like a request and more like a statement. A flash of white in the corner of your eye catches your attention, Peacekeepers are beginning to filter into the crowd towards you. After all, the show must go on.

Chester closes his eyes and let's the warmth play across his face one last time.
"Aye hun, I'm coming" he mutters to himself as he sets out for the stage through the opening crowd, forcing a toothy smile onto his face all the while.
He damn well knew this'd be his day, he glances up at the girl on stage, still with her face downcast and pale as snow. He's out in the main walkway between the crowd's now, Peacekeepers surround him at a deceptive distance, helmets tilting back and forth from the ever-present crowd to himself. He takes another deep breath and steels himself, always a damn show he thinks, always a damn show.

He laughs quietly to himself as the Peacekeepers close in and begin firmly forcing him towards the stage. Make it a bloody pageant for all the bloody sheep he thinks, and so he laughs louder now, more assured, he raises his hand and waves at the crowd, laughs into the blank helmets of the Peacekeepers, mocks the faces in the crowd that turn away as to not meet his eyes and waves all the wilder, reveling in the sheer bloody stupidity of it all. The blow to the back of the head was less funny, as was the subsequent blow to the back of his knees which send him thumping into the dirt. The Peacekeepers interlock his now limp arms with their own and drag him forward up onto the stage, they shove him forwards and his head smacks against the metal decking. He tastes his blood as he's yanked upright to view the crowd. He keeps smiling, why not he asks himself as his vision blurs and the Matron finishes her bloody stupid speech, it's all so damn funny anyway. Just wish the girl would stop crying.

Chester's vision slowly clears, though the taste of blood remains in his mouth. Groggily, he becomes aware of his arm being raised and hears the Capital woman's voice as though it were coming from a long way off.

"District Three, I give you your tributes. Tempra and Chester!"

She waits for a moment and a smattering of half-hearted applause can be heard from the crowd, likely more as thanks for not being chosen than in support of their two newest Tributes. The stern woman gives Tempra and Chester each a look, placing each hand on one of the tribute's shoulders. Gently, but firmly, she turns them around. "Come on, then. We need to get you ready for the journey."

Walking into the building behind the stage, she leads each tribute to a separate waiting room. A pair of Peacekeepers wait outside the entrance to your room, apparently there in case you got any ideas about leaving. Once you've been sat down in your room, you're left in peace.

You're welcome to describe any visitors you have prior to leaving for the capital, you've got full control over how it all happens. We'll move on to the journey to the Capital once you're ready

Chester feels himself thrown forwards through a set of doors, with his head spinning as it is he struggles to note even the most basic of details. As he sinks into the welcome darkness as lights flash behind his eyes he feels his hands clench against thick carpet. He gives into the pressure and collapses.

The steady thrum of an engine is the first thing that Chester becomes aware of after passing out. As he opens his eyes, he finds himself in unfamiliar surroundings. He's lying on a bed that's softer than anything he's ever experienced back in District 3. As the rest of the room comes into focus, he sees an incredibly luxurious suite. An oaken table stands proud against one wall, laden with various confectionaries and sweet treats. A half open door on another wall reveals a private bathroom. A second, closed, door sits against the third wall whilst a window displaying scenery flashing past occupies the bulk of the final wall. It would seem you've missed your chance for goodbyes and are now leaving District 3, possibly for good.

He opens his eyes slowly, unsticking them from the sleep that has collected, he feels his bile raise as the sun sends daggers into his skull. Why does it feel like a 16 week binge ended last night?

He sits up, holding his head as another sharp pain runs through it, he stumbles from the room trying to orientate himself, he finds himself in a another well made up hall, to the left he hears the low ****ter-clatter of cutlery and plates, to the right he opens the door and finds himself in a bathroom larger then his last house. He gratefully sinks down in front of the toilet and proceeds to vomit the stringy mess that's been his sustenance for the last day or two.

The Panem anthem can be heard through the toilet door, the noise muffled by distance. Once Chester musters the strength to investigate, he finds two of District 3's past victor's, Beetee and Wiress, sitting on a sofa alongside his fellow tribute. Noticing Chester entering, Wiress, taps Beetee on the shoulder and waves Chester over.

"Ah, you must be Chester, we're just watching the reapings, come join us."

Once the broadcast finishes, Beetee leans back in his chair and lets out a low whistle. "Looks like a tough year..." He sighs and turns the set off, "So... What are you two good at?"

If you want to play out any interactions with Beetee, Wiress and Tempra, you still can. Just do it at a different time stamp separated by a break.

The speeding train catches your attention as it suddenly begins to slow. For the last hour the train has been speeding along mountains and shooting through tunnels. Finally it comes out of a final tunnel and the sun shines down upon it. With it now slowing, the train track curves to the side and allows you to see in the distance the capital.

A gigantic metropolis, it is comprised of countless metal buildings that stretch into the sky towards the clouds. Never in your life have you seen such tall buildings. Scattered along the skyline are floating ships that hang in the sky.

The train continues to slow, and eventually closes into the city. People line the track, waving to you as the train enters the capital. The capital citizens are an odd bunch, all dressed in bright colors with bizarre hairstyles and some even have odd grafts on their bodies. The sheer number of them decorating the pristine streets is mind boggling to you.

Once the train stops, your chaperone takes you to a nearby building. There a team of highly trained capital employees take over cleaning you. They scrub you clean on a level you've never felt before, removing a layer of skin from your body, thoroughly washing your hair, waxing body hair, and picking any specks of dirt that may be under your nails.

The District 3 Chariot pulls away early on, taking the two tributes to an imposing skyscraper. The escort is standing patiently at the door, waving Chester and Tempra over. "Very good, you two. You both look smart. Now come along, time to take you to your apartment."

The woman leads the way to the elevator, the journey itself taking very little time. The doors open to reveal a luxurious apartment. Beetee and Wiress are already there, seated at an impressive table. Wiress is tinkering with some kind of mechanical device, though she looks up and smiles when the tributes enter. Beetee stands and smiles in greeting, "Welcome, you two looked good out there." He waves an arm to a corridor leading off from the main room, "You've got personal rooms through there, Ramone can show you who's is who's."

Tempra grins at this, apparently excited at the prospect, "I'll be back soon, then!"

She all but runs off to find her room, Beetee watches her go with a sad smile.
