As you awake to the dawn of a new day, realisation hits you. This is it, the time has come for the Reaping of the 73rd Hunger Games. This has always been an unforgettable day throughout your life. For some reason, today has you feeling particularly nervous, dread filling your stomach.

You rise and dress smartly, wearing the best clothes you have. As you leave your house, you join the growing throng of people filing towards the reaping itself. Peacekeepers line the way, their immaculate white uniforms and faceless helmets keeping you from recognising any of them. Their presence presses in on you, reminding you of the harsh reality. Two children are going to their deaths. Not today, but because of the events set in motion on this day. The thought hangs over everyone like a smothering fog.

Just like all the other children in the district, you line up with those of the same age as you. Girls on one side, boys on the other. Your blood is taken by a peacekeeper at a desk, checking you in. The older children put on a brave face for the benefit of those that are younger, but everyone is afraid.

Standing on the stage, stationed between two bowls filled with names, is an overweight, balding man. He wears an ill-fitting suit and is smiling broadly at the assembling children...

Please post your character's general appearance and his/her mannerisms as the reaping takes place. How it goes down is completely up to you.

Kijin is just standing there looking kind of annoyed at the fact that she has just been forced in to a crowd of people she obviously has no affection for. Only paying half attention at the people on the stage she is more interested in the sky above her or anything else to take her mind off the fact that she is here.

Up on the stage, the balding Capital man gives an almost imperceptible nod, signalling the beginning of the event. He walks over to the reaping bowl filled with girls names. Without much pomp or celebration, he pulls out a slip of paper. "The first tribute for District 10 will be... Miss Kijin!"

Sighs of relief are let out by the crowd surrounding Kijin, even as her own chest feels constricted. She becomes aware of the girls nearest to her moving away from her slightly, doing their best to not look her in the eyes. The screens either side of the stage show the camera's searching the assembled children, looking for the latest offering from District 10.

As Kijin slowly realizes what was said, she walks slowly up to the stage looking for a way to escape.

Casting about for an escape route, Kjinn thinks she might be able to make a break for it once she reaches the stage. Unfortunately, by this point Peacekeeper's are accompanying her on her walk. They're not directly next to her, but chances are they could catch her if she tried to run. On top of that, the camera's have turned to focus on her at this point, tracking her movements.

"Ah..." The man on stage has to look at the slip of paper again briefly, "Kjinn, there you are. Come on up to the stage. No need to be shy."

Kijin walks slowly to the stage her eyes darting back and forth still looking for an escape route. Finding none she just stands there with an air of defience.

Once Kijin is on stage, the Capital man walks over to the second bowl. "And the boys..."

He dips a hand in, again not bothering to draw out the spectacle, he simply pulls out a slip. Opening it up, he reads "Kevin Beck!"

Again, the ripple of relief. Shuffling near the back of the boys draws Kijin's attention to where Kevin must be standing. Before long, a stunned human boy is left standing in an opening in the crowd. "Ah, Keven, come on up lad."

When it becomes clear that Kevin isn't going to make it up on his own, Peacekeepers move into the crowd to 'help' him to the stage. As he doesn't resist, little force is used to get him to the stage. Instead, he's escorted between four of the white clothed men. Once on stage, Kijin feels her arm lifted, and sees the Capital man doing the same with Kevin. "District 10, your tributes. Kijin and Kevin Beck!"

There's a weak smattering of applause as the two tributes are lead inside the hall of justice. Once inside, the Capital man explains "You'll have a chance to say goodbye to your families and friends, of course, and I'll see you on the train."

He leads Kijin to her room first, a pair of peacekeepers stand outside. Nobody waits inside and the room is occupied solely by a few bare chairs.

You have free control over any NPC's you wish to introduce at this time. You can use this time to roleplay any goodbyes to friends or families you wanted to make. We'll move onto the train once you're ready.

Im going to be a bit lame here to move the story along.

With no one to say bye to Kijin just waits till the peace keepers comeback.

After a minute or two of nobody arriving, the Peacekeeper's enter the room and escort Kijin to the train. Once at the train, the peacekeepers herd her like cattle into a car before closing the door behind. She finds herself in a very fancy car, filled with fancy decorations and metal gadgets that's she's never seen before. In the center of the car is a fine wooden table, filled with all kinds of food.

The only person in the car is one of the district's former Victors, Victoria Penra. In her late 20's, she is a long blonde haired woman who seems to have aged roughly despite her wealthy life style. She sits in a comfortable chair with a glass of scotch. Without getting up, she gives a greeting nod to Kijin. "Victoria Penra, at your service." She says sarcastically. "I'm afraid you and the other tribute will have to share me. The old man is sick, so for the moment I'm all 10 has to offer as a mentor."

Well thats reassuring. Kijin says with as much sarcasm as she can muster. She wanders around the room looking for anything she might be able to use to get the door open, while blatantly ignoring what is said next.

Cyclopean appears to have gone missing, so for now I'm taking control of him. If he returns soon he can retake control, otherwise I'll make him into an NPC.

Kijin's unable to find any obvious way to get out of the train. As she walks around, the door she entered through opens again. "-and here we are my boy! This is where you'll be spending the next day or so."

The capital man walked in, escorting the other tribute, Kevin, in with him. "This is Victoria, and, ah, you've already met your fellow tribute!"

Kevin pays little attention to the two, instead opting to head further into the train, closing the door quietly behind him. Seeing this, Victoria tuts to herself but says nothing. Sitting at the table, the man pours himself a drink, "I hope Victoria's not been telling you tall tales, my dear."

Before Kijin gets a chance to respond, the screen on the wall flicks on and the Panem anthem blares out. "Time for the round up, then..." Victoria mutters, she glances over at the escort, "Horus, go find the other kid, would you?". She sits forwards in her chair, paying closer attention than Kijin might have expected to the programme. The escort, Horus, gets up from his chair with a grumble, going off to find Kevin. He returns as Claudius and Caesar are reviewing District 3, Kevin in tow. Horus returns to his drink, leaving the tributes and mentor to watch the proceedings in silence.

Once the programme ends, Victoria gives out a long sigh. Saying nothing, she pours herself another drink.

Rolling her eyes at Kijin's comment, Victoria starts to down her drink. Horus, on the other hand, seems aghast. "Young lady, what you have just witnessed is one of the most important parts of these games! Without Caesar and Claudius' efforts, the people of Panem would have no idea who had been selected for the honour of participating until the day before they begin!"

Victoria shakes her head at this, "She'll have plenty of time to see the tributes during their training, Horus. Leave me to worry about finding these two people to sponsor them..." Her tone sounds resigned, as though she's done this many times before.

I'm giving Kevin's player a last chance to post by giving him the link to the parade thread. Hopefully he'll reappear, and if he does I'll give the two of you a joint IC after the Parade finishes. If he doesn't, he'll become an NPC instead. Either way...

The speeding train catches your attention as it suddenly begins to slow. For the last hour the train has been speeding along mountains and shooting through tunnels. Finally it comes out of a final tunnel and the sun shines down upon it. With it now slowing, the train track curves to the side and allows you to see in the distance the capital.

A gigantic metropolis, it is comprised of countless metal buildings that stretch into the sky towards the clouds. Never in your life have you seen such tall buildings. Scattered along the skyline are floating ships that hang in the sky.

The train continues to slow, and eventually closes into the city. People line the track, waving to you as the train enters the capital. The capital citizens are an odd bunch, all dressed in bright colors with bizarre hairstyles and some even have odd grafts on their bodies. The sheer number of them decorating the pristine streets is mind boggling to you.

Once the train stops, your chaperone takes you to a nearby building. There a team of highly trained capital employees take over cleaning you. They scrub you clean on a level you've never felt before, removing a layer of skin from your body, thoroughly washing your hair, waxing body hair, and picking any specks of dirt that may be under your nails.
