Hello all-

Is it possible to make it so that an illusion spell is falsely identified as a spell from another school? So, a wizard who casts Identify sees an abjuration spell instead of an illusion spell?

I know about the feat False Theurgy. However, it only applies to the spell casting, not the spell itself.

Thanks!

Magic Aura (or Nystul's Magic Aura if you're sticking to D&D) could do it to an object. If your illusion is cast upon an object and then you hit it with MA, you should be able to mask the illusion as whatever you want. There's nothing about it working on a free-standing magical effect like a phantasm, though, so assume that it can't be done that way without GM approval.

Generally, Nystul's Magic Aura (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/magicAura.htm) can do this for items.

For people, Nondetection (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/nondetection.htm) is the preferred solution.

Though not RAW, I've had this come up before. We just made opposed spellcraft checks.

Don't forget the Misdirection (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/misdirection.htm) spell, which can be used to disguise auras carried by either objects or creatures. Of course, this spell requires a decoy object bearing the magic aura (or alignment aura) that you want the subject to appear to carry.
