OK, I level up. How exactly do I level up my (improved) familiar? (He's a quasit). Is it just hit points, or do I add feats (if applicable).

(FYI: I need to level him up as though I went from level 7 to level 9.)

I'm just a bit shaky on this.

If you're talking about a standard Improved (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/feats.htm#improvedFamiliar) Familiar (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/classes/sorcererWizard.htm#familiars), then it's very simple:

You start with the standard beast - a Quasit (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/demon.htm#quasit), in your case. Set the familiar's HP to 1/2 yours (or it's own - base quasit with 13 hp in your case, whichever is higher... but if you have 27 HP or less at level 9, you're in trouble), set it's natural armor to it's own +5 (so +8 natural armor), set it's Int to 9 (regular Quasit's is higher - 10 - so it's actually stupider than normal, oh well), and add the various other abilities - Improved Evasion, Share Spells, Empathic Link, Deliver Touch Spells, Speak with Master, and Speak with Animals of it's Kind (Useless). It's only treated as having your hit dice, so it doesn't actually get feats and things. It uses your base saves (where they're higher) rather than it's own (however, it uses it's own ability modifiers, racial modifiers, equipment, et cetera). It uses your base skill ranks (where they're higher) rather than it's own (however, it uses it's own ability modifiers, racial modifiers, equipment, et cetera).

OK, thanks . . . that's pretty much what I expected. I was hoping to add some feats! :smallwink:
