Hey, do orb spells work through an anti-magic field? What about if the spell has no SR and by[passes it like orb of force?

Many but not All spells with "Orb" in the title pass through an antimagic field unimpeded The check is Conjuration school, instaneous duration. If both those criteria are met then antimagic feild does not affect them. These spells are also useful since as SR: no spells they also bypass the infinite spell resistance of a magic immune creature.

Any spell that's a Conjuration (Creation) (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicOverview/spellDescriptions.htm#creation) with a duration of instantaneous will ignore an antimagic field. You can only cast them into the AMF from outside of it, you still cannot cast any spells including those if you're standing within the AMF's effect.

Also note that AMF does not block line of effect for spells, if you're on one side of the AMF and your target is on the other side of it (or standing in an unaffected space such as via Mastery of Shaping or Extraordinary Spell Aim) and neither of you are standing inside of the AMF's effect, you can cast any spell you want on them.

If you want a spell that does block an orb of fire (and no other orbs, though orb of fire is the main one), then you might be interested in fire ward (SpC, 94). It's a spell that actually stops magical and non-magical fire alike, so it'd work fine here. Also worth note, as a universal orb stopper, is friendly fire (EoE, 27), which just deflects anything with a ranged (touch) attack roll. It's a fantastic little piece of spellcraft.

Don't forget about Ray Deflection in SC, which makes all ranged touch attacks of any kind automatically miss you, regardless of what kind of buffs the attacker is using. Even deities can't hit you with ranged touch attacks when you have that active.

The Orb of Force will work perfectly fine against a golem with 'spell immunity' that is projecting an antimagic field, provided it is cast from without the field into the field.
