So working out some pre-gens

3rd level 28 point buy. 2,700 gp equipment,
Anything goes. BUT...
1. I want to avoid any one pregen outshining the others.
2. Assume the players might be complete idiots (K.I.S.S).

So, I'm thinking:
Barbarian Two-Handed Weapon Dude.
Blaster Warlock (Unlimted Pew-Pew)
CoDzilla Cleric (Big Armor Guy with option to heal)
TWF Back-Stabbity Rogue

I need two more.

Or tell me why any of the top four are a bad idea and make another suggestion.

Oh, if anyone is wondering, I did finish Ox (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=934861) already.

Big Like Ox.
Quick Like Cat.
Brain Like Fish.

I would add a couple of sneaky characters - not sure which classes, but being able to split into an effective scouting team and a heavy hitting squad could be something the party is interested in doing.

font of inspiration factotum,
unarmed swordsage
utility wizard
defence based fighter type. (sheild specialisation, active sheild defence, dodge, karmic strike and later robiliars gambit). (check the sword and board handbook)

this adds the types of badass martial artist, batman (comic and old series) and "tank" to your list.
factotum is for players who love to do a bit of everything, lots of skill points, good at physical skills, good at fighting, can cast a spell or two, can heal.

edit, i am also running a very similar thing very soon where i have designed around 12 characters for the party to choose from, rather then one guy getting stuck with the healer again :smallmad:
(they are the lowest of low op, only reason i have a healer option, but all the characters i have made have tried to balance the field, mid op mundane's with low op casters).

Beguiler (PH2) is an Enchanter/Illusionist that can fill all the Rogue roles except dealing damage. Very easy to play because you spontaneously cast from a pre-set spell list. You can even print the spell list including spell descriptions (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?245446-Printable-Beguiler-spell-list) (does not include errata (https://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/er/20040125a) such as Legion of Sentinels attack and damage values).

Dragonfire Adept from Dragon Magic is like Warlock with a breath attack instead of EB. Include the feat Entangling Exhalation from Races of the Dragon and consider making him a Warforged with Adamantine Body. Be sure to include Endure Exposure so friendly fire won't be an issue.

I'd also include a Shapeshift Druid (PH2), preferably a Killoren (RotW) with the feat Magic of the Land (RotW).

I did this a while back too. It was a group of people assembled to defend a Dwarven Mining complex from some bugbears and a drow who was enslaving them.

Here is the setup I used. They are loosely level 4 and 5, but can be toned down to level 3. Message me if you want my home-made, simplified Character sheets:

1. Sneaky Support - Chaos Gnome Rogue1/Warlock3: Hideous Blow, Earthen Grasp, and Spiderwalk. He was once a Warlock following Vecna, but saw the light and repented. He went to Garl Glittergold to help shake off the vestiges of his past.
2. Sunder-Demolitionist - Dwarf Rogue5 (Demolitionist ACF, Dragon 338): Cleave and Improved Sunder Feats with Adamantium Miner's Heavy Pick. His ACF changes his sneak attack to effect items and constructs instead of people. So, he jumps in, sunders the weapon, cleaves into armor, then cleaves into the face.
My people loved this.
3. Weapons-Master - Dream Dwarf Monk4 (Ghurka Weapon Style Dragon 330, Wing Chun Kwin Style Dragon334)
4. Frog - Grippli Wild Defender 4 (Dragon 324)- A Ranger/Paladin hybrid. He was a lot like Frog from Chrono-Trigger. Give him a good sword.

Expanded:
5. Ex-Military Fighter - Dwarf Dungeoncrasher Fighter 4. Vexing Flanker and Cleave feats. This guy is ex-military, and when called beck to the fight, all his leadership drive kicks in. He's a hard hitter and uses tactics.
6. Silverhair Knight Cleric - Human Cleric 4. Uses Healer's + Silverhair Knight (Dragon 315) Spell list, openly follows the goddess Astrild. She is a florist by trade while secretly working to reform the Drow.
7. Knowledge-focused Duskblade - Tiefling Duskblade 4 - Has an Owl Familiar and uses Knowledge Devotion.
8. Robo-Dragon - Rogue Modron Warmage (or Dragon Disciple) 4 - When he left the hive, he short circuited and believes he is a dragon. The problem is, he's never met a dragon. But he knows they horde treasure and breathe fire.
