===============================
Campaign Setting:

The game takes place in the homebrew world of Illystene. According to the archbishop, the god(s) have lost their patience with mortal kind and have given the world five years time to make themselves worthy and arrive at the Island of Light's Gate to receive their judgment and be sent to paradise.

The world now consists of two groups: "Pilgrims", those who are desparately trying to get to the island, and "Realists", those who are seeking to use this worldwide exodus to their advantage.

Each PC begins the campagin as a member of the "Redeemers," an organized Realist gorup of mercenaries who specialize in the careful extraction of Pilgrims throughout the world and delivering them to the Island. The group offers different packages to their customers ranging from elite silver dragon escort to a lowly walking stick with a "best wishes" sticker on it.

The PC's are bound to the company, forced to work off their debt before being "considered eligible for decommission."
==============================
The following is a list of key locations for this campaign. This is not a comprehensive list of all locations in the world of Illystne, and PC's are encouraged to contribute to the world through any means approved by the DM.

Redemption

Redemption is the central city for the Redeemers. It is nestled along the coast of the Brave Sea, which is an ideal location considering its close proximity to many booming cities across the waters to the west with its high population of Pilgrims. Redemption itself is a fairly large and homely city, influenced much by ancient Doran ideals and architecture.

Off the coast is Redemption Port. It is the main hub of the city, as it is where all newly arrived Pilgrims begin their journey to the Island.
The city itself is built upon the ancient Doran civilization, where many antiquated elevator system they used still exist. Many Pilgrims too poor to afford any Redeemer packages end up forming small communities deep underneath Redemption itself in a futile effort to survive and earn money for passage.

====================================

Shanwood Forest

Shanwood Forest is the vast forestland that covers the expanse between Redemption and the porttown of Viridas Tuun. It is filled to the brim with dangerous monsters. Pilgrims who cannot afford more elaborate Redeemer packages must cross through this forest without escort or transportation. Not many make it to Viridas Tuun...alive.

====================================

Viridas Tuun

Viridas Tuun is a high-life port town; it is on the coast of the Ordeal Sea the final body of water that surrounds the Island of Light's Gate. It is apparently said that all Pilgrims come to Viridas Tuun, hoping to buy passage on a ship to the island. The city was created and expanded by those who eventually lingered there.

====================================

Ordeal Sea

This body of water surrounds the Island of Light's gate, where the Archbishop of Light and her clergy reside. The island itself is nestled in the middle of the sea, while Viridas Tuun borders it from the west.
Dangerous storms, seemingly neverending, loom to the far northeern and southern reaches, preventing explorers from charting additional land. Along with perils experienced by Pilgrims thus far, these threats contribute to the chillingly small number of Pilgrims who make it to the island.

Rumors have circulated of a band of pirates who rule these waters, eagerly capturing any vessels they find in order to use them for forced labor. What exactly that is for, though, is uncertain.

===================================

Island of Light's Fate

This island is the ultimate goal for every Pilgrim, although no one has ever arrived at the island and returned to the main cities to describe it in detail. Only through divination and preaching about the upcoming cataclysm has the Archbishop reached out to the people of Illystene in a hope to save as many souls as she can. Little else is known about the island. Whether it is a small landmass, or a sprawling archipelago, is unknown.
