I'm thinking about making a generalist wizard because I really really don't like banning entire schools.

I know there are various ways to increase the number of spells you get at level 1 and beyond by getting rid of your ability to specialize in magic and feats

Does anyone know an elf race that does not take a penalty to con?

these are the ones I know of :

Collegiate wizard (i think I spelled that wrong) FROM COMPLETE ARCANE

elven generalist from races of the wild and I can't really think of anymore

aerenal arcanist player's guide to Eberron

Other examples would be nice

Does anyone know of an elf race that does not have to breed in every possible environment? Seriously, look at all (http://ihititwithmyaxe.tumblr.com/post/9678117696/every-playable-race-in-3-5-d-d-without-a-level) of these subraces (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=1281.0). (Scroll down to Elves.)

Desert and Snow strike me as good choices; neither has a Con or Int penalty, both give a bonus to Dex, Desert penalizes Str while Snow penalizes Cha.

haha sorry my browser for some reason isn't letting me go to a lot of other sites so I had to ask here xD

Now I just need to get more options (preferably ones that all stack together) to give me more spells without a need to specialize! : D

Domain wizard (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/variantCharacterClasses.htm#wizardVariantDomainWiz ard). All the slots of specialization, without the specialization, and it stacks just fine with elven generalist.

What would you say is the best domain in terms of power? Conjuration? I mean in gets gate right?

The Easy Bake Wizard Handbook in my sig may be of some use.

Oh god you were the exact same guy who suggested all this stuff last time! Hi again! : D

That's exactly what I was looking for.

Conjuration is solid, mostly because all of the spells are reasonably worth preparing, rather than because of gate. Transmutation is also pretty good, a few mediocre options along with stuff like polymorph and haste. Really, you're looking for whatever domain gives you the most spells you're actually going to cast in a day.

Oh god I thought this stuff stacked with PrCs apparently they don't :(

So I want the domain that gives me spells I'll use the most?

I'm not sure what stuff you're referring to here. It looks like both domain wizard and elven generalist continue to provide their benefits if you PrC out, and the same probably applies to some other abilities.

So I want the domain that gives me spells I'll use the most?
Well, yeah. That tends to be the way of it. If you're just getting one really good spell, then you could replace that effect by just preparing that spell instead, so you're better off with a large quantity of good spells. 9th's are also generally less relevant than anything else, both because it makes up the smallest portion of most games, and because you're already breaking the game a bunch of ways by that point, and an extra gate isn't all that relevant by that point.

Oh I was reading something else and I guess it said elven generalist/etc didn't gain their benefits in PrCs so I just read it again and apparently I was wrong.

So everything is good.

An arctic sun elf equates to +2 Int and -2 Cha.

While a dragonborn fire elf equates to the same thing.

An arctic dragonborn grey elf equates to -2 Str, +2 Con, +2 Int, -2 Cha.

An arctic spark dragonborn grey elf equates to -2 Str, +2 Con, +2 Int, -2 Wis ...which is handled by taking Keen Intellect as a first level only feat.

Keen Intellect allows you to use your Intelligence modifier instead of your Wisdom modifier for Will saves, as well as Heal, Sense Motive, Spot and Survival skill checks.

Dragonborn can be found here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/iw/20060105b).

Arctic and Spark templates can be found in Dragon Magazine 306.
